Disney done differently, (BOG dining updates pages 202 and 203)

I always overpack too. You never know when you're gonna need that ONE thing that you never use!! The one time you don't bring it, you'll need it!!! Especially with dealing with Anakin for you, and Tyler for me. Gotta be prepared for everything!!

Lisa, have lots of fun at DL!!!

I think I brought everything but the kitchen sink! All of us were prepared for everything! I had winter clothing and summer clothing. We only wore pants the one night. It was shorts the rest of the time.

Nice update. Sorry for the hassle with the keys for the room.

You posted the most "updated" pictures of the new decor that I've seen thus far at POFQ. Glad you liked your room.

Thanks. I still prefer the rooms at CSR over POFQ. We had the most storage space for our luggage at POP surprisingly. They fit with room to spare between the bed closest to the bathroom and the wall.

I loved how small FQ is. When we were doing things just at FQ, we didn't need to bring the wheel chair. Only needed that when we walked over to riverside, though we drove from FQ to Riverside twice. Our building was the furthest away from Riverside.

I came over here from the POFQ thread and decided to snoop around a bit and get to know you and your family better. This post caught my eye. I have to say that I have NO experience with special needs kids personally, so either my comment here is totally naive or I'm giving you an "outside the box" viewpoint.

It seems that sounds really bother your son. I remember reading once that some autistic children (and I don't know if that is your son's issue because I haven't read everything, just randomly looking at posts) have hearing that is so sensitive that that they even hear the blood moving through their veins. They never know what it is to experience silence. Sounds outside their body are so much louder to them than to us. Now, in terms of your son, what would happen if he used earplugs to muffle the loud noises? Or some other sound muffling device? I'm wondering too if he can actually feel the vibration of sounds, which would be why he would want to stand on a rug or snuggle in upholstered furniture.

Like I said, maybe my question is total naivety on my part. Personally, I don't like noise in general. My computer volume is always at 4%, the TV is as low as I can get it and still hear it. A balloon popping will totally unnerve me. (Just found out recently that my sister will not even stay in the same room where there is a balloon.) So, not liking loud noises is something I can understand to a very limited degree. And I do feel things like the helicopters flying over or large trucks rumbling by, but I assume everyone feels this?

:welcome: Thanks for coming over here, nice to have you here!

You bring up a great point. He does have ear muffs to reduce sound. Maybe we'll have to buy an extra pair and leave them in the bathroom.

I never thought about the feeling vibration. Our glass sliding door sometimes vibrates from the helicopters and air planes. Maybe he does pick up the vibration in advance too? I do know that loud noises are painful to him.

He also seems more sensitive to sounds after seizures. His last seizure was 8 days ago. He hasn't been running from sounds, though he does put his hands over his ears from time to time.

Probably why I like it! :lmao::lmao:

I am hoping they get to the bottom of what is going on with JJ and the staring...very frustrating/worrisome! Also sorry to read of the key hassle. Praying for good things for you and for you to have an amazing weekend!:grouphug:

Now that the 48 hour video EEG was ordered, he hasn't had any of these episodes. The last one was a week ago Thursday and it lasted about 5 minutes.

We had the key thing happen to us the first time we stayed at CBR. That happened after driving 18 hours straight from PA to FL on Thanksgiving day. We were so tired and it took us hours to get it straightened out, and we were stuck outside in the hallway. So this time it went much smoother. At least we were in a room and able to unpack the car.

Thanks for the prayers, we appreciate it!

Anakin went for basketball evaluation today for the non-competitive league. He did ok last year, but I think this may be his last year. The other children are not special needs and they all run circles around him. Hoping to find somewhere else for next year. We found a special needs baseball league, looking into that for the fall.

Once we got our room keys, the guys headed out to go fishing at POR. I was a bit behind them because I went back to the room to get the bag with our swim suits.

I got a text from them that the last fishing rod rental is at 1:30pm. I think when we visited Lisa there in Oct. it closed at 4:30pm. The boys were disappointed, and made sure we planned on fishing the next day for sure. It was suppose to rain on Saturday, so I added weather permitting.

Even though I had the swim gear with me, we headed back to the room to change. With the room set up, the guys changed in the bedroom and I changed in the bathroom. Getting ready in the morning, changing into swim suits in the daytime, and pjs at night were the only time we missed not having that separate changing area.

Grumpy didn't want to swim, so just the three of us went swimming. The pool is so cute. Just perfect for Anakin who loves swimming.

The pool water was FREEZING!!!! You know it's cold when you have an entire pool to yourself!! There were people lounging on the deck, but very few swimmers. I asked if the heater was broken, and the life guard insisted it's working. The air temp was 74 degrees and the water felt sooooooo much colder than the air.

The pool actitivities were going on while we were in the pool. Anakin wasn't interested in participating until after he swam. He donned his goggles and swam all around the pool. He loved the water slide, but said he likes the jaguar slide better because it's longer. It was so nice not having people around the slide. He could take his time going up the stairs.

We met friends, who are snow birds, at the food court for supper. We had a nice time hanging with them. They brought a birthday card with a gift certificate to Bass Pro for Grumpy. It was burning a hole in his pocket the whole time we ate.

Our dinner bill was only $23.09 for all 4 of us with our Tables in Wonderland discount. Grumpy and I were still full from lunch. We each just got a cup of clam chowder. Anakin got a kid's pizza meal. Goofy got a quesadilla. Grumpy and I got dessert. He got a double scoop of icecream and I got 3 beignets which I shared with Goofy.

Our friends wanted to see our room. We showed it to them. They wanted to head over to the Poly for a dole whip and they were hoping to catch Wishes from the beach. After they left, Grumpy and Goofy headed to Bass Pro while Anakin and I hung out in the room.

I am thrilled to hear that Anakin hasn't had a seizure recently.

That pool area is so cute. I was looking at pictures of the new pool area at the Disneyland Hotel and it makes me really want to stay there. There is nothing like cute pool theming to bring out the kid in me.princess:

I bet it's a great pool! But the Disneyland Hotel can't come close to the deal you got at your hotel!!

Pools are important for us.

Grumpy learned to swim without floaties at All Star Movies years and years ago. My parents were watching him while Goofy and I went to the DVC presentation at the Boardwalk. We came back from that to learn he could swim on his own completely! He was playing tag with another child. That child could swim and he just kept up!

No you're right about that but I did get a stellar offer for the resort hotels. I got a pin in the mail the other day for 35% off. It kind of makes me wonder what kind of deals I could get with an AP. But free still beats it.:rotfl:

How fun that Grumpy learned at All Star Movies. That is a fun memory to have.

Brrr...but that gives me hope seeing you in the pool that we may get some pool time at BWV next week! :) Goo saw the picture of the slide and now wants to stay there when we go...UGH I can't win...everything else I am doing on this trip is for them...the only thing I am doing is staying at the BW!

I remembered when I stayed at POR there was not a lot of "vanity" area space to store luggage or anything. I think I stored my suitcase right where you stored the wheelchair.

Thinking about and praying for you!~ I am happy JJ is doing well; however WHY is it when the monitors are on that nothing happens...so frustrating, I know!:hug::hug:

Anakin looks like he is having a great time on the slide.

He had a blast and didn't mind the cold water at all!

35% is good!! You're right, free is better!! Are you going to get an AP? I know you were thinking about it at one point.

The boardwalk pool is great, as long as you can get past the creepy clown at the end of the slide. When you ride the slide you don't see him. That was the first Disney resort water slide I had ever tried. We stayed at the BWV the first year the resort opened.

Thanks for the prayers. No monitors til after Christmas. Dec 27-29.

I am still considering the AP. I figure that they are that much cheaper for me. It's a win-win!

TOTALLY Missed commenting on the awesome pics, LOVED the pool! I must have misunderstood, I thought JJ had a monitor on and it didn't show any activity for 48 hours...or are you saying there will be a second one after Christmas?

The neuro ordered the 48 hour video EEG because he had 2 staring "spells" in one week, with the last one lasting 5 minutes of him not responding. This EEG will be Dec 27-29.

He is ready to go back and swim there again. We checked rates for May, nothing was available at FQ and CSR was too expensive, though it was only $10 more than ASMo. So swimming will have to be at a water park, our pool isn't heated and it's way too cold at 50-some degrees.

Hey Michelle- great update! The POFQ room is nice! So sorry you had the whole key incident, what a total pain! and bummer on the rod rentals for fishing too- that seems so early to stop them.

Sending prayers and good thoughts for the EEG!!!

You guys and your campfires...need to come west and we will give Anakin a campfire in the mountains with all the smores he wants! Thinking of you guys next week and praying for Anakin to have a smooth EEG! Can't wait til we get to meet up if all goes well!

Full size beds versus queen beds. What did you think of the mattresses at POFQ compared to CSR?
