We stuck to the food that didn't look dry and that we know we love. We enjoyed what we ate, except for the tomato basil soup. It tasted more like a tomato sauce then a soup. Grumpy decided it would make a great salsa for his quesadilla, lol!

Glad you enjoyed the pumpkin funnel cake. I wonder if they will keep it permanently or just seasonally?

It will be an ambulatory EEG. Trying to figure out what exactly the staring is. He is not sure if he is falling asleep with his eyes open, seizing or something else. He said the EEG should shed some light.

Hopefully the EEG gives you some answers. That's the kind of EEG I keep trying to get for Grace, but her neurologist doesn't like them. He'd rather her keep doing the 24 hour inpatient EEGs that never show anything because she sits on the hospital bed all day watching TV. Her seizures are brought on by fatigue and being over stimulated/frustrated which isn't going to happen in the hospital, but will happen in normal day-to-day life at school.

I hope you can get Grace the tests she needs. I got a call yesterday from the EEG place. It's going to be a video EEG. The doc didn't tell me that. The scheduler said the cord doesn't reach far. This should be interesting. There will be a list of things he may and may not do. The only things the scheduler told me was that he can't talk on a cell phone or get wet. She said the technician will go over all the other details the day they do this. She said to allow 2 hours to get him hooked up and an hour to take it off. Yikes!

Then allow another couple hours for baths and hair washing afterwards! If the glue they use for this test is anything like what they use for the 24 hour inpatient ones, it will take a lot of shampoo and several washings and then a lot of brushing to get the glue out of his hair. The first time Grace had the 24 hour EEG I had the girls scheduled for Christmas pictures the next day. I'd made that appointment long before I had the EEG date. Good thing I had Santa hats for them to wear or it would have looked like Grace had a lot of "snow" in her hair in those photos!

Oh no!! LOL! Thanks for the warning. I bet the Santa hats were cute on the pictures!

Miss you too! Sorry we couldn't get together today. Appreciate all the prayers and good thoughts!

It didn't feel like homework. Actually it felt better keeping an eye on our spending. I think we spent less than what we normally do because we were aware of it.

I hope so too! The diary isn't a souvenir. We have to mail it back to Disney. We have never really paid attention to our spending at Disney. I kept it with us and wrote as we went along. It's crazy that a QS meal for a family of 4 is hard to do under $55. The only meals that were under was the one where Grumpy and I ate soup instead of a meal or shared an entree. We love clam chowder and Fri night they had clam chowder. He and I shared a muffeleta because we didn't know if we'd like it. It was filling, even eating only half. And we had plenty of room left for dessert!

Oh okay. More of an adventure than a chore. I hope they figure out what is causing this and are able to solve it.

The lunch buffet at the Pepper Market at CSR on Friday was disappointing compared to our first experience with it on Monday. On Monday, the food was covered with lids. On Friday, the lids were off and much of the hot food looked dried out, especially the chicken at the grill station.

I had chicken quesadillas, seasoned red potatoes, ceasar salad, and icecream. The quesadillas were excellent! The guacamole is my favorite, so the two together were heaven to me.

I really wish they would have churros at lunch time. I love vanilla icecream, a churro and honey. Instead, I had vanilla icecream with honey. The cinnamon gives it that extra umph making it incredible.

Alba was our server. She was ok. David, the server we had on Monday, was much more attentive.

We paid by credit card. The bill was $72 with the tip for the 4 of us. The register receipt for credit card payment listed the recommended tip for 18% or 20%. Dh felt obligated to tip.

We went into Panchitos window shopping. Anakin wanted to look at their pin book. He made one pin trade.

The sun was shining bright and based on the weather forcast this was our best day to swim so we headed back to the resort. Anakin was so excited to go back to the room and put on his swim suit and try the water slide!

Up next, will we be able to get in the room?

Oh that's sad about your lunch. I am not really fond of the buffets at DLR and WBG loves them. It's the little things like the peanut butter and jelly pizza that he loves. Silly man.

Thanks. We are hoping to find out what this spacing out is. The neuro said it didn't sound like seizure. He thought maybe he is sleeping? But with his eyes opened?! Doc said it's possible.

I guess I hit it 50/50. We had an excellent lunch there on Monday and I'd classify Friday's lunch experience as average.

I understand about those little things! When I was a kid casseroles were all that for me! We always had a meat, potato, veggie and dessert type supper. The family of 8 kids across the street had casseroles every day. Every now and then my friend and I would switch homes. Mac and cheese with hot dogs were my favorite!! She loved being able to eat meat not touching anything else, lol! It was a win-win for us!

After eating lunch at the Pepper Market at CSR, we headed back to the room. The plan was to quick change into swim suits and hit the pool. That plan changed quickly when we got to our room and none of the keys would open the door.

Standing outside our room, I called the resort operator to see if we were at the right room, 1107. Thought maybe the wrong room number was written down. But it was the right room, she transferred the call to the front desk. The cm at the front desk said she'd send a runner with new keys for us.

10 minutes later, a runner arrives without keys and a maintenance guy arrives to fix the door. Runner opens the door and uses the phone to see if we actually belong in this room. He determines this is our room. Tells Anakin he can keep the keys as souvenirs and lets us in as he goes and runs for new keys.

We told the maintanance guy what happened. He still checks the door anyway. Tells us the door works fine, it's our keys. Which we knew.

Runner comes back, gives us new keys. Asks for old keys back. Anakin was ready to cry at having to give back his souvenirs. Runner says he can keep them and tells us to make sure we only use the new keys.

All in all, this took close to an hour to resolve. In that time the boys decided they wanted to go fishing instead of swimming.

Our room at POFQ was awesome!! The queen size beds are great! In fact, it seemed we had more room in the bed there than at home! (The head board looks too small for the queen size mattress though). The beds were lower off the ground than a standard room. Anakin was able to get up on the bed himself!! At CSR, he needed a boost or a chair to step up to the bed. There was nothing but space under the bed. Most of the other beds at Disney resorts have a box frame around the bottom of the bed.

We were placed in a handicap room. The bathroom was HUGE!! It was different from a regular room in that there was only 1 sink, extra handrails, and a higher toilet. I’m not sure if the built in shelves are in the regular bathrooms or not. The divider between the bedroom was a sliding door like at CSR, instead of the curtain in the regular rooms. The safe was also located in the bathroom. The sink area was dead center of the bathroom.

There was no place to put our luggage other than the bathroom. We kept Anakin’s wheelchair behind the room door. There was plenty of room there.

The armoire was very nice and pretty. I loved the dark wood in the room.

2011-12-09-12034.jpg

Usually we stick our luggage under the hanging rack in the room, but with the armoire there was no other hanging rack. There was just the exact amount of space for the 2 small suitcases under the sink. The large suitcase didn’t fit. So we put it in front of the safe in the bathroom.

The flat screen tv was nice too, as was the dresser it sat on. The refrigerator was on the right hand side, the drawers were on the left. There was a small 4 cup coffee maker, glasses and paper cups on a tray. At CSR there were actual coffee mugs. Either way, didn’t much matter as we are not coffee drinkers. (Though I am told that coffee tastes different out of paper.) I was surprised though that the individual paper cups were not wrapped.

I loved the colors and pattern of the bed spread and shower curtain. We had a fun time looking for hidden Mickeys.

sorry your lunch wasn't the same as the first time!
and for all the issues with your keys!
your room was different than ours....we had the double sinks with shelf underneath and the closet rod, must be due to the bathroom part being bigger...no armoire or those cut out shelfs, but looks like everything else was the same....i don't like the wdw coffee, so bring my own instant, splenda and liquid creamers...our cups weren't wrapped either :confused3

I was trying to remember your room, but my memory from October wasn't as clear as I expected. I forgot about the shelf under your sink. That was definately not here. The sink my have been lower too possibly.

I'm trying to think if our cups at POP were wrapped or not. I think they were, but they weren't insulated. There's no coffee maker at POP.

Kinda looks like you were put in a part HC room, normally there aren't rails by the toilet like that. That's interesting!! Glad things got fixed with the room keys, that has to be quite a pain waiting on THEM!

It was an inconvenience, but we were very thankful for the runner bringing the keys to us. We were able to unpack the car and bring our luggage in the room, which is why the door is ajar in the pictures. (Otherwise, we would have had to walk down to the main building. Wait in the check-in line, then wait for new keys, and walk back to the room.)

We were productive while we waited. Anakin watched Good Luck, Charlie! I took pictures. Goofy and Grumpy brought in the luggage. Boy did I over pack...AGAIN!! I really should be getting better at this!

I always overpack too. You never know when you're gonna need that ONE thing that you never use!! The one time you don't bring it, you'll need it!!! Especially with dealing with Anakin for you, and Tyler for me. Gotta be prepared for everything!!

Lisa, have lots of fun at DL!!!

Nice update. Sorry for the hassle with the keys for the room.

You posted the most "updated" pictures of the new decor that I've seen thus far at POFQ. Glad you liked your room.

Ahh, bless his heart. Thanks for the idea about the hall light switch. It's right outside the bathroom!! That's the next habit we will have to work on!

When he was going to a psychologist, she did more harm than good. She gave him homework of trying to desensitize him by having him flush the toilet multiple times a day. All it did was stress him out more and he began to have accidents, which he hadn't done since potty training days.

But it was during that time that we discovered the light switches were just as much a problem as the toilet flushing. I drew him a diagram of the lights and fan so he'd know which light to turn on. Unfortunately, from bathroom to bathroom (we have 3) it's not the same. It was too hard to remember, and he was too anxious to think clearly at the switch when we left the diagram there.

What he is doing now, is coming to get us when he has to go to the bathroom. He will walk behind us, until WE turn on the light. Then once the light is on, he wants his privacy! It's reduced his stress and there are no accidents.

Toilet flushing is another biggie. He will not flush the toilet. He is too scared. Even if I am in the bathroom with him and I flush the toilet he will run. He has hit his head twice on the door knob because of fleeing and not being aware of his surroundings. There is a rug at the bath tub. If he stand on that with bare feet, he can handle the toilet flush. But not standing on the ceramic tile. I don't understand that. But if I am going to flush and he is still in the bathroom, I tell him to stand on the rug because I'm going to flush. I guess the feel of the rug on his bare feet distracts him enough to handle the flush?

Bathrooms at Disney can be a disaster. We carry post-it notes to keep the toilet from flushing on him. Companion bathrooms work much better since there are no neighboring toilets flushing.

For the vaccuum cleaner and the garbage disposal, we have to tell him when we are turning it on. He will go sit on the couch (his refuge) until we stop using it. Again, maybe the feel of the couch fabric on his skin distracts him?

Airplanes and helicopters send him under the kitchen table.

I'm open to any advice that will help him to tolerate these noises better! So keep it coming.

Lurkers, you too. If something has worked for you or your child, please let me know.

I came over here from the POFQ thread and decided to snoop around a bit and get to know you and your family better. This post caught my eye. I have to say that I have NO experience with special needs kids personally, so either my comment here is totally naive or I'm giving you an "outside the box" viewpoint.

It seems that sounds really bother your son. I remember reading once that some autistic children (and I don't know if that is your son's issue because I haven't read everything, just randomly looking at posts) have hearing that is so sensitive that that they even hear the blood moving through their veins. They never know what it is to experience silence. Sounds outside their body are so much louder to them than to us. Now, in terms of your son, what would happen if he used earplugs to muffle the loud noises? Or some other sound muffling device? I'm wondering too if he can actually feel the vibration of sounds, which would be why he would want to stand on a rug or snuggle in upholstered furniture.

Like I said, maybe my question is total naivety on my part. Personally, I don't like noise in general. My computer volume is always at 4%, the TV is as low as I can get it and still hear it. A balloon popping will totally unnerve me. (Just found out recently that my sister will not even stay in the same room where there is a balloon.) So, not liking loud noises is something I can understand to a very limited degree. And I do feel things like the helicopters flying over or large trucks rumbling by, but I assume everyone feels this?

I could be wrong, but I think the decor is to reflect that old southern charm.

Probably why I like it! :lmao::lmao:

I am hoping they get to the bottom of what is going on with JJ and the staring...very frustrating/worrisome! Also sorry to read of the key hassle. Praying for good things for you and for you to have an amazing weekend!:grouphug:
