Next, we decided to hit up the Cove Cafe as I wanted a coffee drink. I ended up getting the Caramel Latte Frappe (so good!). I was given a card where after 5 drinks, I get one free! Just four more left, haha!

We want back to our room briefly to change our of our swimsuits before heading out again to complete the Midship Detective Agency game.

By now it was about 3:30, so we relaxed in the room for a little bit before starting to get ready for the evening’s festivities. At about 5:30, I went out on the verandah. It looked like the wind was starting to pick up!

file-1295.jpg

Yesterday, they said to expect showers today in the Navigator. In today’s Navigator, it said sunny for today and showers for tomorrow (Castaway Cay!). Does this mean a storm is coming in? Ruh roh!

Stay tuned for our second evening aboard the Disney Dream!

Another great update with fabulous pictures! I am still not a fan of the NCL Epic...it just doesn't do anything for me.

Your day staying onboard sounds like it was a great idea!

What gorgeous pictures you got. The ones in Meridian are just so cool!
We saw the Epic in port when we were there as well...and I took a bunch of pictures...then lost that stupid SD card...luckily I mostly used my SLR for pictures, so the ones lost weren't the "most important " ones, but I am still mad at myself.
I think the Epic looks neat, myself. We are thinking of doing a spring cruise next year, and we are considering her as an option...along with some Princess ships and of course, DCL.

It would seem the pictures just keep getting better. Thanks Kevin!!
Did you enjoy the Detective agency game? Is this something adluts like as well as the kids>

Great thread! :thumbsup2

Makes me really look forward to our 3 day cruise in February.

More great pictures. I am looking forward to the Golden Mickey show even more now. Looks like so much fun. I cannot wait until we go.

It definitely was! We had such a relaxing day and I got to take some great pictures! :)

Love all of the pictures!!

Thanks!

Thank you! I wasn't expected those pictures when we walked into Meridian...it was a lovely surprise!

I'm intrigued by the larger ships (like the Epic, Oasis, etc.)...maybe someday I'll get on one of those!

Joining in, albeit a bit late! I love the pics!

Never to late to join! Welcome! :)

We actually really enjoy the Midship Detective Agency. It's fun, unique each time, and it's a GREAT way to explore the ship! It's very interactive, too!

You're going to love it!

I absolutely love that show! I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but boy do I enjoy it!

I hope to have another update in the next day or two! :)

Beautiful pictures! Can you share what type of camera you are using....maybe even the camera settings for the shows.....any special photo editing? Really beautiful pictures!

Thank you! I use a Nikon D3100 Digital SLR camera. I switch between the 18-55mm lens and the 55-200mm lens depending on what I'm shooting (I use the 55-200mm lens for the shows so I can get a better zoom).

For the majority of the time, I just use the "Auto" mode. And believe it or not, I'm still quite a novice with the camera, so after reading a couple of books I bought with the camera, I learned that using the "Shutter Priority" mode would be best for shows. That allows me to manually select the shutter speed. I select 1/120 s for the shutter speed and I change the ISO setting to 800. This produces the shots I get of the shows with no flash required! All of it is still a little confusing to me, but I'm starting to understand it little by little. Hopefully this helps and I gave the right information! ;)

P.S. I do NO photo editing! I can see how time consuming it can get, so I haven't gotten into that area yet, haha.

Fantastic pictures. I love what you got in the Golden Mickeys. Mine turned out so-so. I have a Nikon d3000 so I am going to try to remember your advice on camera settings for next trip. If I can just stop the blurring, I can fix lighting on my computer.

Keep it coming!

DAY 2 - November 18th, 2011 - Nassau, Bahamas (Part 5)

After relaxing a little bit and then getting ready for the evening, we went down to the Walt Disney Theatre at about 5:30 for “Villains Tonight!” The doors opened at 5:45 and in we went to get our seats. The show then promptly started at 6:15. Well, Rachel started talking at 6:15 at least. The show didn’t start for another 5-7 minutes or so. Now, this show is one of my very least favorites (right there with Toy Story the Musical), but I enjoy the costumes and some of the unique versions of the songs. Other than that, the show does nothing for me. I especially don’t care for the humor, though I must say, this Hades annoyed me the least out of all the ones I’ve seen.

But enough about all that. How about some pictures!

Once the show ended, we made our way alllll the way up top and aft to dine at Palo! Tonight we were supposed to dine at Animator’s Palate according to our rotation, so we were bummed about missing it (it’s our favorite on the Dream...mainly for the menu). When we boarded yesterday, we contemplated changing our Palo reservation, but knowing we’d be back on the Dream in three weeks eating in all the main dining rooms, we decided we would keep our Palo reservation as it was.

We were seated as soon as we checked in (at about 7:25...our reservation was for 7:30). It wasn’t a window table, but in the next row. (A window table didn’t really matter, though, as it was pitch black out, haha).

file-315.jpg

file-1773.jpg

Now I must ask for forgiveness. I don’t recall our server’s name. However, our previous Palo server on the Dream was working and I remembered him (Lazslo)! After our server informed Lazslo he served us previously, he came over and said he remembered us. Who knows if it was true or not, but it was still nice he stopped by nonetheless.

Anyway, before all this, we were brought the bread selection by a random server.

file-2484.jpg

Then our server came over and asked if we dined at Palo before. We tell him that we had, many times, and we spared him having to give the spiel. We knew what we wanted, haha! So, he took our order and got a couple of soft drinks for us.

After that, he brought over the antipasto cart and made up a plate for us.

file-1933.jpg

Shortly after that, our first dishes arrived. The “quattro formaggi” pizza and the mushroom risotto.

file-1695.jpg

After finishing that, our palate cleanser arrived.

file-1151.jpg

Within 10 minutes or so, our server came back and asked if he even needed to ask “the question.” Of course we knew what we meant (if we wanted souffles or not...they ask before the main course since they prepare it so you get it in a timely fashion after your entree). So, we say “YES!” He asked how many, and of course we replied with two! Then, our main dishes arrived! We both got the signature Palo beef tenderloin.

file-1483.jpg

Upon completing the entree, we asked to see the dessert menu as there might be more we wanted for dessert in addition to the souffle. Well, we decided we did indeed want more, haha. So, we got the souffle, panna cotta, and the tiramisu!

At this point, I also snapped a picture of the Christmas decorations hanging at the top of the windows:

We paid, added extra gratuity, and were shortly on our way out. Not before taking a few more pictures, though! These are of the chandelier as you enter the restaurant.

DAY 2 - November 18th, 2011 - Nassau, Bahamas (Part 8)

And so, at about 8:50, we were leaving the restaurant. I wanted to go out on the open deck to get some night pictures. We were literally blown away. It was so incredibly windy out! Like, it was almost hard to walk, windy! Would the fireworks and Club Pirate happen later? We sure didn’t want to find out. One, it was super windy. Two, it would probably be crowded with people pushing everywhere (we’ve experienced this before, and a lot more of it recently on the ships, unfortunately. Not every time, but it’s getting more frequent). So, we decided we’d rather not deal with the weather AND pushy people tonight and decided to skip the Pirate festivities (if they even were to occur). We experienced ALL the Pirate Night festivities on our last Dream cruise which is was why we were so quick to decide to skip them this time. It’s actually all very good, though! Maybe we’ll watch them again on our December Dream cruise!

At about 9:45 we were making our way back to the room. We put on a movie (I believe the “Smurfs”?) and relaxed before falling asleep. I think I heard fireworks, but it could have been someone’s verandah door making the noise. Who knows...all I know is that we were comfortably laying in bed and relaxing! Ahhh...the good life, haha.

I’m not sure what time we exactly fell asleep, but it was probably by 11:00. Tomorrow is CASTAWAY CAY! Stay tuned!

More gorgeous photos. I still have 11 months before i go again...but you are getting me excited once again. :worship:
