Hi Natalie!

Here!!! (As I sit at our regular pizza place waiting for our take out order on our way home from our Anniversary trip!!!)

Hey silly lady...I just knew you'd pop in to get on page 1

Day 1) Sunday Oct. 16th
On our way…

It actually wasn’t that hard to get up at 3:00 am…I am pretty sure I was already awake prior to the alarm going off. It was pretty dark out, but I quickly got cleaned up, and then had a yogurt, banana, and cup of OJ in the kitchen and said good-bye to you all on the DIS…while Matt took a shower. I was glad that NR didn’t hear us and wake up.

We got the last minute toiletries and other times in the suitcases and then I broke the clip to latch the garment bag (whoops), so Matt tied it shut. I got all the suitcases out by the front door and then said good bye to my Mom just after 4 am.

I loaded up the bags into the back of Matt’s car, as he ran back in as he almost forgot his sunglass clip and extra contacts. We were on the road about 4:25 am…a bit behind schedule, but we had no traffic all the way to my Sister and BIL’s house. I drove, I can’t remember what we talked about in the car, but were happy to be on our way. As I arrived to their house, I guess my BIL was sitting on their front stoop and he was wondering who this “drunk” was turning around in the neighbor’s drive.

He took the wheel and got us to the airport 5:15 am.

It was pretty empty and had no line thru security or any issues. We had our first experience w/ the body scan too. Matt almost had some difficulty raising his left arm above his head. We also noticed a family sitting to the side having all their bags checked through.

Once we were situated we headed down to our gate and the plane was scheduled to leave on time! The gate area was already pretty full, but we took 2 seats near a group of elderly ladies. This group of ladies kept having more arrive via wheelchairs too. I felt like we were part of some private party, but also was worried w/ all these wheelchairs and a lot of children on our flight meant early and pre boarding how were we going to get two seats together?

Matt grabbed us some drinks (3 btw and it was just over $10) and we ate some muffins I brought from home. As Matt went to use the restroom, I chatted w/ one of these ladies about where they were going (a cruise).

Boarding began about 20 minutes to 7 am and I was even more nervous now…

As B group was called we got in line w/ the some 13 people between us and I kept my fingers crossed it would work out. Once I got on the plane I was just about to pass the 2nd row and I saw that nice lady I was chatting w/ and said “Have a wonderful trip” when she says to me “Where’s your husband?...here you two sit here by me

THANK YOU! :worship:

I couldn’t believe our luck…it pays to be nice I tell you and the first bit of MAGIC occurred for this trip!

The flight took off right on time at 7:05 am and was a pleasant flight. We both tried to rest a bit, I also read and journaled. We watched part of a movie on Matt’s laptop…a Halloween one but of course! Jack Sparrow err I mean Johnny Depp in Sleepy Hollow.

We arrived early to Orlando (SWEET!) at 10:10 am. After a quick rest stop (which I by passed the first one and went to the 2nd one we saw, no line)

we made into the mini-monorail

(Matt wondered why I took this pix and I said I need something for travel day in the TR)

And were on the DME bus by 10:50 am after a short wait for the bus. Boy it was packed down there, a ton of guests arriving today. Our bus was packed full!

We got to WDW property that some 28 minutes later, and had a fun bus driver telling jokes and having fun w/ the guests. In particular some children up front wearing Yankees hats. They were staying at the Poly and he joked he’d let them off first since that would be the only thing they would finish first at. ;)

He also asked us non newbies if the first timers (which mostly the whole bus were) if they would get any rest…you know what Matt and I yelled “NONE”

I was able to catch the edge of the Welcome Sign:

CR for BLT was going to be the last stop after Poly, GF and WL and we were getting anxious so decided to jump bus at the Poly. I needed a restroom (I should have kept track how many I actually went into) and then we hopped on the monorail and went around to CR. Here’s our first look at MK and BLT:

Did we beat the bus? Who knows, but we were enjoying ourselves.

Check-in went super smooth w/ hardly anyone there. As we checked in, I was checking my BLT room #/view cheat sheet:

And doing a little “even # chant/dance” I wonder if it worked I couldn’t wait to receive the room ready text!

We received our two Anniversary pins

I wonder how much fun they would have?

No room was ready for us, so we checked our carry-ons w/ bell services out front and then headed up to the Contempo Café to grab some food…our first Disney food of the trip. "Happy Anniversary" "Thank you" this was one of many exchanges to come for our happy pins...

We flaked a bit at those ordering screens, but then remembered the drill.

For our first meal we had:

100_1416.jpg

Matt (um nice face) a hot turkey sandwich w/ fries and a soda, He said it was pretty good, but the cheese was a bit sweeter than he thought it would be.

And I had my new usual the turkey BLT w/ fries and a sprite which I later refilled w/ lemonade and poured into my water bottle. Mine was good, but needed less turkey and more bacon.

Our first meal grand total was $24.88

From there we headed to the Magic Kingdom for the first time on this trip!

Up NEXT: meeting Mickey, my new boyfriend…

Joining in!! Glad your trip down went smooth! I laughed at you guys "abandoning bus" and monorailing from the Poly...that's SO something I would do!

Can't wait to hear more :goodvibes

Woo hoo for easy travels and a great check in!! It sounds like you had a pretty smooth day so far! I love that you jumped off ME and took the monorail!

Yay! The report has started! :thumbsup2

The early morning flights are a killer but it is so nice to arrive early enough to actually get some touring in. :thumbsup2 Looks like a nice start to the trip. Like the PP pics, good idea to wait for those.

Can't wait to hear about MK and the room. ;)

You guys look so happy to be together in WDW! What a blessing it was to go on that trip together right before Matt's surgery, huh? I will say a prayer for him for a great recovery. :) I get sad just thinking about you going on your trip without him! It will all work out in the end, though.

It was probably good that you were running a bit behind schedule. The SW counter at Midway doesn't open until 430am. :confused3 It was VERY hectic for our flight. We've always made it to the gate with plenty of time to spare but this time I was able to use the rest room, get us some McD's quickly and by the time we were done scarfing it down it was time to board! :scared1: Didn't help that Greg's carry-on got flagged and TSA had to go through it. It ended up being my Nasal Spray (prescribed) that I forgot to take out to go through the scanner. :rolleyes1

Here for this! We are celebrating our one year anniversary in January in Disney, so I like seeing anniversary trip TRs. :)

Yay! Glad you started your TR! It will be fun to read yours and remember where I was on those same days:goodvibes

Love your hugging picture in front of the castle!!

YAY! You started! You two look so cute and relaxed. Very nice.

Travel day sounds smooth so far. 3 am is so early! The only time it's ok to wake up that early is if you are headed to Disney!

thats hilarious that you got off at the Poly and took the monorail around. I bet you did beat the bus there for sure

Those ordering screens at Contempo take some getting used to :headache:

Yay I need a new trip report to read and this looks like a good one! I'm joining in :) I am excited to hear about BLT because it is our home resort too but we haven't stayed there yet! (but we will be on our Christmas trip ) Yay so excited! It sounds like you guys had a wonderful time! I can't wait to hear all about it. :wizard:

Great start!! :cool1: You guys look so happy! Sounds like you might have had the same ME driver who drove us back to the airport yesterday. He was so funny & was making Yankee's comments too.
