Is there a way to find out what the opening day prices were on the last Med Cruise offerings?
Just trying to get an idea of prices.
Thanks!
I can tell you about OUR situation. The 2011 cruises got a little messed up. When they were first released (my confirmation that I printed out from DU is dated 9/28/09) the entire summer was 10 & 11 night cruises. We initially booked a 10 night August Med in one of the Cat 10A SPH cabins WITH a 10% rebooking discount. 3 people (2A, 1 C who would be 14 at sailing). The price for us was $5,590.98. This was cruise only. No insurance or transfers. Just the discounted total price. (A balcony cabin was initially running somewhere around $1,200 more than that.)
A few weeks after they were released
DCL put all of the cruises starting with July 30 on hold & stopped selling them. Our TA with DU suggested that if we wanted to preserve our Cat 10A SPH cabin that we might want to switch to the last 10 nighter being offered in July. July was a more expensive month & wasn't as good for us to travel BUT "our" SPH cabin was still available so we flipped until we could learn what was happening. None of the prices had increased yet - everything was still the same as opening day. "Our" cabin was now $5,986.98 ($396 more). This confirmation is dated 11-15-09. Finally DCL released the 7 night cruises (after several weeks of no word on anything).
We sat on the July 20 cruise mulling it over until late January. We wanted to add time on land before & after the cruise and the longer cruises would make that more difficult then we had a large financial hit with a $7K car repair (DH's engine blew) so we decided that both economically and time wise we'd be better off going back to an August vacation. August is a better month for us and we decided that we could more easily sandwich a 7 night cruise with more time in Europe than we could a 10 night. The prices still had not changed and we were STILL able to get our Cat 10A SPH cabin. My confirmation is dated 2-2-10 and the price on this one was $3,981.51 after our discount.
THEN in June they slashed their prices on the balcony cabins (but not on the inside ones). SOOO we upgraded to a Cat 5C for a discounted total of $4,377.51. We got an additional $100 OBC from DU for going from an inside cabin to a balcony so the "net" increase in price was only $296!! I felt THAT $300 more was well worth it to go from a SPH cabin to a clear plexiglass balcony. Sometime in August 2010 they raised the prices on the balcony cabins back up to what they HAD been and then some. I think they were back to being about $1,200 more than we paid. They then sat at those prices from Aug. 2010-2011 until we cruised.
It seems like DCL is always a little higher the first time they do ANY new itinerary and a little less whenever they repeat it. I wouldn't be surprised if they DO offer Eastern Meds that the first year they go would be higher than these prices. I would anticipate 10-15% higher.
