First some backstory on the title: the DC’s are DH-Dave (me), DW-Darla, DD-Dana (6), and our last name is the same as a famous album/song from 1988 by NWA, ‘Straight Outta ________’, I’m sure you can figure it out, but it starts with a ‘C’.

So I have been mulling over doing a TR after our excursion, no biggy, right? Then the thought of writing up a PTR came across my brain waves. Then one day (a couple days ago) my DD from the back seat says, “Hey Dad, our initials are DC right, your DC, momma is DC, I’m DC, and we are going on the Disney Cruise and that is DC?! Right? DING! Light comes on, “That would be a great title for a TR!” So here it is….The DC’s On The DC – Triple D’s First Cruise and Lil D’s First Trip To The World

First, let’s start with some introductions.

Myself – Dave aka Grooovertoo: I’ve been a huge Disney fan from my youth, but nobody ever understood it. It all started whenever I visited my Grandma (DG) in Kansas who had this Disneyland Picture Souvenir book. First thing I would do, every time was go straight to that book and look through it for hours and dream (sidenote: when my DG passed in ’89 my mom presented me with this treasured book and I have since shared it with my DD). Finally my parents gave in to my persistence and took me to DL in ’81. My next visit was not until my Honeymoon and my first visit to WDW. Since then, the Magic was always there but it didn’t truly strike again until one day at a Chucky Cheese in Amarillo of all places, while looking at their pathetic animatronics and observing my DD staring aimlessly at them, it came to me….I’ve got to take my DD to DLR for her birthday, plus it was the year of Celebrations where she got in for free on her Birthday (Win/Win). Well, we had a wonderful time, there for 4 nights and 3 days in the parks. We were able to ride an Earthquake the first night with a couple rumbles the next few days, fall in love with In-N-Out, and discover that SOARIN is well worth it. I drink my coffee from a MM mug and that pretty much says it all, but then again it is decaf.

DW – Darla: upon her graduation from High School visited DL for the first time in 1986. This had always been a dream of hers and she did it on her own. She likes Disney, but she is not as big a nut about it as me.

DD – Dana: what can you say, she just turned 6 and she is our life. She loves to act, play with animals and loves all things Disney. She has a bit of SID (Sensory Integration Dysfunction) which you would think would be trying for the Parks, but she really shined at DLR and was not affected by it too much. We put some ear protectors in and she was good to go.

For years I’ve dreamed of taking a cruise and spending a few days in the World and now I get to complete that dream.

I love planning this vacation and appreciate all that the DISDads and the DISboards have to offer.

So the plan is to set sail on the Dream on October 9th 2011 for 4 nights and then spend 4 nights at CBR taking in MNSSHP while there. This will be our first cruise ever so that more than anything has me, how should I say….worried. I think I have the basic itinerary down though, I’ve listed it below:

SEA
Saturday, October 8th – Fly from DIA to MCO, staying at the Hyatt Regency that night.
Sunday, October 9th – Set sail
Monday, October 10th – Nassau
Tuesday, October 11th – Castaway Cay
Wednesday, October 12th – Day At Sea
LAND
Thursday, October 13th – Back on land, CBR and MNSSHP
Friday, October 14th- AK
Saturday, October 15th – MK
Sunday, October 16th – EP
Monday, October 17 – Leave

Through the next few weeks I’ll go more in depth with each days plans and figure it all out as I go along.

Well, as of today, all has been paid for:

Cruise - check
WDW/CBR after Cruise - check
WDW Park Hopper Tickets - check
MNSSHP - check
Airfare - check

What am I forgetting?:confused3 Since this is our first cruise and only our second trip to the world...I just feel like I'm forgetting something, but maybe that is okay, since we still have 4 months from now.

My biggest concern is that we are still waiting for my DW's birth certificate to come in. She was born in El Salvador (her parents were U.S. missionaries) so we have a ton of copies, but nothing official. We had to send off some special forms to D.C. so hopefully the officials there are finding something. I guess if all else fails, she can't go?:rotfl: Yea, right!!!

First trips are always exciting!

DH and I would love to go on a cruise... talked about it for our 10th anniversary, but that was 3 years ago, LOL! Maybe we'll take a DC for our 15th ;)

Hey, thanks for stopping by, We dreamed about it for years too. Same deal, we thought maybe for our 10th, how about the 15th?? So, we settled on our 17th, (even though it will be 2 months later) but either way we are doing it.

Just stopping by to say Hi, so umm... HI! Saw you reply to one of my posts on the cruise thread (we're on the same cruise and I have a daughter that is 5).

Looks like a lot of fun. I've never done a cruise myself, but I look forward to seeing how it works out for you. I think a Disney cruise coupled with some park days would be a great way to experience one though.

HI back!:wave2: Yes, she can't wait, she keeps asking me how many kids her age will be on the cruise and she is really looking forward to making new friends. I have her helping me out with the FE gifts too, including her in that makes her feel really involved and a part of the planning. I also think that her knowing that little people her age will be in the kids areas makes it easier for her to look forward to the cruise.

Yes, thanks, I've always dreamed of doing it this way and it just works out great that my DD is on fall break then (plus a little cheaper and less crowded), plus she is a nut for Halloween and how could you not go to the world during the fall and not take part in MNSSHP.

Well we got DW Birth Abroad Birth Certificate FedEx'ed the other day. That is the coolest looking certificate I have ever seen. Along the right hand side it has this very cool 3D strip and when you hold the cert up to the light it has a U.S Seal glowing through. So, I guess she can go on the cruise now :rotfl:

I'm also glad I ordered my WDW PH tickets a month ago before they raised their rates. I love it when a plan comes together.

Plus, TouringPlans just downgraded the parks for 2 of the days during our stay. :cool1:

Getting cranked up, sitting at 106 days out as of now and 15 weeks!!

Trying to come up with some good FE ideas for the Adults on the cruise. I think we have the kids items done (thank you Target $ section). That will be my next task, to scourer the boards for ideas.

Got all checked in this morning. Still not real sure about what to do in Nassau. Might just stay on the boat.

Thinking about doing the Stingray Adventure though on Castaway Cay, if anything for the DD who just loves wildllife.

DCL has still not supplied a cabin to us yet, we shall see. From what I've read it could be 45 days out now.

Did I mention that we finally received our cabin number? We will be in #5044 on the port side. I was notified last Friday by our stellar TA (prattpak)!! I’m finalizing our cruise and then the next thing to do is hammer out our tour of the World. We also received our FE last week as well. Now all we have to do is decorate it. We are going with one pocket for us and another for DD (she wanted her own pocket, so of course gets one). Now to just come up with a good FE gifts to give out? We have a few ideas, we shall see.

We're doing the 4 night on Oct 30 - also our first cruise.
If you could have your TR done before we leave so I can learn from any of your mistakes, that would be great. :thumbsup2

We mulled over just staying on the ship, but it would be the kids' first time in another country so we decided we had to get off and do something. We settled on the Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter (Similar to the one at Atlantis, but less expensive and it sounds like you get more dolphin time).

AHHHH a challenge!!!?!!! I shall try to live up to the DisDads and complete my TR in due time, i.e. when life allows. I need to look into the Dolphin Encounter, I should probably post my plans some time soon, but we are thinking of getting over to Atlantis at least, we've (DW and I have always wanted to see it). Just trying to hammer it all out. Goodness knows after your trip, I think you're going to be just a weeeee bit busy for the next 7, 8 months to 18 years?
