Could the Dream Turn the Grump into a Believer? Charleston Update 10/13

Oh Yeah - I didn't interrupt. I would have hated to leave that cabana, too. Last on the ship???? Cute souvies!

What an amazing day at Castaway Cay! So relaxing and fun Michelle. That's what vacation should be like! I bet Don really enjoyed it! Hopefully this turned him into a believer! ;)

Wow, your update is making it really hard to avoid rationalizing getting a cabana for our cruise. And making me really sad that this will be our first cruise that isn't a double dip - CC is the best version of heaven on earth I have ever experienced

That cabana was just perfect and we are double dipping next summer. I don't know how I will stand it if we don't find someone to share a cabana with BOTH days!!!
It was perfect being there with you, Don, and the boys! Such a wonderful day!:goodvibes

WOW! Castaway Cay looks great! And the cabana looks fantastic. Glad that you and wigd could share and make it work. Definitely food for thought for anyone wanting to take a cruise there.

And what's that I spy?? :magnify:

Didja finally get a drink (okay, it might have been self-service, but it was a drink nevertheless)? :rotfl:

I am in love with your Castaway Cay day! That cabana looks awesome!!! What a great set up for a day at the beach!!! Just gorgeous and so relaxing! Yeay for Don helping to make a Mickey head! That's great!!! :thumbsup2

Woo hoo for your great day on CC! :cool1: I so hope our 2 days there are as nice. As you might remember, we have never had a beautiful day there, 2 overcast days & missed the island entirely the last time we cruised.

That cabana looked so nice. Couldn't justify the cost with 2 of us but pretty swanky.

Loved the boys pic with Hook & Smee.

I agree Castaway Cay is heaven. :cloud9: And I will hopefully be enjoying a 2 nice days there soon. :beach:

Love the update! Castaway Cay looks so wonderful :cloud9: Our first cruise will be a double dip, I have been daydreaming about that place for six months, and still have six months to go  That water looks so beautiful and clear. Glad you got out to snorkle. Sounds like such a fun day :)

The Castawy Cay day was the biggest high point for me on our cruise this past summer! It looks like the cabanas are awesome -- I can't really justify the expense for my next cruise, since I'm going solo, but maybe one of these days...

Castaway Cay seems like heaven on earth. Toes in the sand and a drink in your hand, :thumbsup2

Even your grump is coming around. HeHeHe

So much fun! That cabana looks fabulous! I think it must have been nice having a place to hang out like that, I agree! looks like everyone had a great day and a fun time on CCay... We were convinced the double dip was the only way to go when we booked it for our boys. Made the trip perfect. I love CCAY!!! AND the Konk Koolers!!!! :thumbsup2 Nice souvies, too.. especially the beach towel!

Your pics of CC are GORGEOUS!! What a beautiful day you had, lucky, lucky you! I will be there for the third time this May- hope we have sunny skies like that all day (although the other two CC visits I have mad eit rained for only part of the day, and we still managed to enjoy ourselves!).

Very glad your Grump was enjoying making that Mickey in the sand! :goodvibes

I had to reread what you posted to make sure I got that right---Don actually made a Mickey head in the sand!!! Maybe there is hope yet!

Castaway Cay is just gorgeous. I can't wait to try it some day.

The cabana looks wonderful. How great that you had your own beach as well!

Love the snorkeling pictures. How neat!

You are killing me with this update! CC looks better and better every time I see it.

Loved the cabana! You and Anita look so relaxed and happy sitting there in the water. That is my very favorite thing to do at the beach. I always pull my chair down to the water and let the waves lap over my feet. Pure bliss! :cloud9:

How odd about the cabana service. I'm surprised by that. Disney service is usually top notch and I would think it would be even better for the people who rent the cabanas considering the cost. :confused3

Does the cabana have a bathroom? If it does then I'm sold, with three little ones I'm always in the bathroom and they never have to go at the same time. And when they poop out they can nap.

Michelle - please don't hate me for interrupting your posts (if I do), but this was too much fun to read and I have to go upstairs and practice music now.

I did vote for meMom - I hope she's back in the lead. Go meMom! :cool1:

I think this is the first time I've seen the cabanas and that truly looks like the way to go, but why no service?

Are you going on the cruise again this summer with Anita and Jen. I really wanted to go but adding on those DVC points used up my cruise money.

That's OK - I'll get there and when I do I want a cabana!

The snorkeling looks like so much fun. Nice underwater pictures from the Disney grump. Nice Mickey too! ;)

I'm not sure why our call wasn't answered :confused3 We never tried it again, so maybe it was just a fluke.

I wish I could cruise again next summer with them, but there is just no way. Justin paid for missing baseball, I guess coaches don't see the value in family time. :sad2: Anyway, I just can't do that to him again.

The cabana was awesome! Don't know how I'll ever go back to CC without one!

Oh Yeah - I didn't interrupt. I would have hated to leave that cabana, too. Last on the ship???? Cute souvies!

Nope, no interruption :thumbsup2

We were not the last on the ship, that might have been Wigd & Shocker!

What an amazing day at Castaway Cay! So relaxing and fun Michelle. That's what vacation should be like! I bet Don really enjoyed it! Hopefully this turned him into a believer! ;)

It really was a perfect day. Don enjoyed the day a lot :thumbsup2

I voted. Good Luck!

Thanks for voting! She came up a few votes short, but since the contest was so close they are giving out 2 prizes, so she'll get the books for her classroom anyway :woohoo:

This isn't going to help you avoid rationalizing, BUT when you are splitting the cost of the cabana, it really is quite affordable. We figured up what we would have spent on drinks, floats, tubes, snorkeling equipment, etc. and realized that it only 'cost' us about $100 to have the great cabana and an almost empty beach - definitely worth it! And you'd be splitting it 3 ways........ :rolleyes1

OH, and let's not forget - the nice shady area with the ceiling fan to get James out of the sun when you need to - I know, not helping

That cabana was just perfect and we are double dipping next summer. I don't know how I will stand it if we don't find someone to share a cabana with BOTH days!!!
It was perfect being there with you, Don, and the boys! Such a wonderful day!:goodvibes

The share is really the way to go, it is totally worth the price if you can split it with someone - so glad we had you guys to share it with too, it was a great day :goodvibes

I don't want to hear about your double dipping cruise next summer, I'm jealous - I need a pouting smilie to insert here ;)

Didja finally get a drink (okay, it might have been self-service, but it was a drink nevertheless)? :rotfl:

Yep, sharing made the big price tag doable :thumbsup2

I did finally get a drink - wish I would have had a pitcher of them though, it was yummy!

I am in love with your Castaway Cay day! That cabana looks awesome!!! What a great set up for a day at the beach!!! Just gorgeous and so relaxing! Yeay for Don helping to make a Mickey head! That's great!!! :thumbsup2

I could go for a cabana on a CC beach right about now :cloud9:

I don't think we would splurge for a cabana if it were just Don and I either, especially since they have the adults only area.

Fingers crossed that you get a sunny, beautiful day!!

Wow, those cabanas are super nice! What a great way to enjoy the island.

Yes it was a great way to enjoy the island!

It was a great day, I totally did not want to leave! The cabana was nice enough I think I could have just stayed there until the next cruise ship came through.....
