Hi! Hope this is the right spot for this post..My DML just informed DH that his cousin who is a CM may be able to get us a discount on our upcomimg trip in Dec. Now she tells us:confused3 and what kind of discount idk...We have a standard room booked at WL for 12/6-12/11 including 4 day passes and the DDP.(soooo sad our week was blocked out of FD:sad1:) Anyone know what types of discounts CM's have gotten for family members ? Is it just on the room or passes too?Are there any special rules or things that you cant include like the DDP or certain hotels or rooms that arent included if you use a CM discount? Does the CM have to be present at the time of check in or at the entry to a park? What if she can get us the discount but WL has no rooms available..can we use our current ressie and just adjust or do we have to change hotels? Had my heart set on WL at christmas.Hope this makes sense.Thank you!

We're not supposed to discuss discounts with anyone but the CM. The discount available can vary, and might not be available at all resorts. You're currently booked on a package, it would have to be cancelled and rebooked. CM discounts are room only reservations. They sometimes offer us the dining plan at a discounted rate, but not always.

Room-only CM discounts are generally 50% off the rack rack.

if you have your heart set on a specific resort, and you are married to using the dining plan, and you are happy w/the tickets you have, you are likely better off just sticking with what you have. although i have access to discounts, it is not always the easiest or the best to actually use them... they sound good on paper, but for us, they don't always add value to our vacation... we tend to spend much more on food if we are not on the DDP, we are limited in resort/type of room, etc... not always worth it!

perhaps you can meet your cousin for a meal or something and enjoy a discount that way... personally, for a trip in 3 mos, i would likely turn down a discount (i know it sounds crazy, but i could not bear the thought of re-doing all my ressies and planning and such)...

I'm not sure who your source is, but mine is a high-level manager at the WL who told me this last month. Perhaps the discount varies:confused3

Exactly, the discount does vary. I book cast reservations. Also, not every cm is eligible for friends and family and there is a limit to how many friends and family reservations that an eligible cm can book in a year.

I would agree with this. My dh works for an airline and disney gives us great discounts on rooms, but no dining plan etc. If we book really early we have a great selection at 3 months out it would most likely be slim pickings. We always try to switch to another discount to get the dxdp. We have Aps this year and its the same situation. You have to be really flexible with your resort choices. Since we are going 4 times this year I have no problem being flexible. If it was a once a year trip I would rather go without the discount and get exactly what I want.

:thumbsup2

I have had a cm who is a family friend book me rooms in the past
I am not going into what they do for Disney but the rooms were at select resorts for each level and 5% lower then the military discount
So I think for deluxe that would be 35% off
As mentioned above though, I know they have a limit per yr they can book

The CM oes not have to check in with you but they do have to go to the front desk before you check in and show their ID.

Quick question, would you be able to book a CM discounted room with the free dining promo?

Unfortunately no... discounts cannot be 'stacked' so if you get one, that's all you get... and, quite often the CM discounts do not even allow you to add paid dining... so if you have your heart set on the DDP, a CM discount leaves you out of luck...

i'm curious what the OP decided!!

More often than not, we can get a discounted DP. At a really good discount. But it's not always a given.

I'm hoping one will be offered soon. We are going at the end of this month and would love to be able to add a discounted DP to our reservation.

i've been eligible for a cm discount for nearly 5 years and have never had the option of adding DDP neither at full price nor discount... i, too, would love it if it happened!!!

Thanks for the responses! I was asking because my SIL's sister is a CM, in the college program and she (SIL) is saying they got the free dining promo and room discount using her sister's CM discount. I was wondering if this was true, because everything I have read on here says, no.
