How Do You Think We Stay So Happy?*Final Thoughts & Farewells* 10/7 p100

Hi! Delinquent trip partner here. Sorry you've been feeling abandoned, MEK. Personally I think this TR is far from a dud, but I may be a bit biased! Thank you :worship: for taking on the responsibility of a TR. I know it's a lot of work. I really appreciate it and have enjoyed reliving our trip.

Thanks C. I am really glad you are still updating. I just love reading about what you guys were doing and I love seeing all your pics!!!! I'm glad you brought your camera because you got some really nice ones!!!! Thanks for posting.

The fine art of noodling. I am looking forward to some more practice next month. Just stick with it. You'll get it. :upsidedow

Maybe it will be warm enough for me to practice at Hilton Head next month! I will think of you guys noodling away!

I don't remember feeling rushed at all and we were able to walk out, toward our private entrance/exit, through a very nearly empty park. A near perfect evening! :)

That really was delightful. I think the ritas had already gone to my head because I don't remember too many details. :rolleyes1

First of all, I have to say that I cannot use a pool noodle for that it was intended at ALL. My mom, however, is great at it, and can hang out on one for hours. Me, not so much. I find trying to keep track of it a bit stressful and would rather just float.

Phew.....Well I'm glad I'm not the only one! :rotfl2:That's exactly how I felt. Maybe I have too much ADD for a noodle. Yup, that must be it. No patience!

Your night at EPCOT sounds like it was pretty much perfect. The ritas look great. I'll have to try one sometime. A drink in Disney that actually packs a punch...that sounds good.

.

It really is a REAL drink! I'm not a big fan of those drinks that are full of sugar and calories and have little alcohol. I need to FORGET I am drinking 500 calories in one glass and tequila has that effect. :rolleyes1

Dinner looked great, too. Can't wait 'till Max is old enough and we can do dinner during Illuminations like that. Great update.

You will love that! And it will be here soon! :thumbsup2 It is fun when your kids start to enjoy going out to eat.

Love the cute Vera but oh no on your AP nearly expiring. Yay on enjoying The Ditch - your drink sure looks great! :cool1:

I hope you have the Ditch on your list! Yup - my AP expired the Vera - Tracy gave that to me. She rocks!

Mmm I love shrimp so those tacos sound tempting.

.

They were very yummy! Two :thumbsup2:thumbsup2up!

Thanks for sharing the flag pics - it sure is a hard day for some today and can't believe it has been 10 years.

You're welcome. I'm glad you liked them.

I hope you have a wonderful trip. I figure you might be getting up soon and getting ready to go!!!!!! ENJOY!!!!

LOL, I don't think your TR is turning into a dud!

I think I was just having a dud of a day on Saturday.

I love noodles for the pool! I've never used one in a Disney pool, though! Maybe if I ever stay at BC again, I'll remember to get one!

Well, you need to hang out with Tracy, Melissa, Jen, and Christine because they are pretty much pros!!!!

Yay I'm glad you finally went to the Ditch (why do you call it that again???)! :thumbsup2 This is the 2nd time in 2 days I've seen that jalapeno margarita mentioned and I kind of want to try it...but I don't like spicy hot things! We'll see if I'm brave enough (in 18 days!!! :dance3:)!

18 days!!!!! :woohoo: That's soon!!!!!! I don't like spicy things either, but I promise you its not super spicy. It's refreshing. There was one little hint of spice at the bottom of the glass, otherwise NADA!

I forget why Ellen calls its the Ditch, but I started doing the same thing. I think I just like the name better than the Cave.

Dinner looks like it was great and I LOVE being one of the last ones to leave Epcot! It's so peaceful, walking around WS with pretty much no one around. I always wonder how long you can wander the park before getting kicked out? :rolleyes1

It was wonderful walking out through our private entrance and being the last to leave. It was a wonderful last night for Cynthia and I (Tracy and Christine still had another night).

I"m still here and still reading!!!! This ain't no dud!!!! Love the flag pictures!

.
 Thanks Sheree! I'm so glad you like the flag pictures!

I hope to convince my family to eat at La Hacienda for Illuminations some night, but only two of the four of us are into mexican food.

Hmmmm.....that's a bit of a dilema. I guess they will really have to scan the menu and see if there is something they like. It is a cool place. I look forward to eating there in December. I know Denny and Nick will like it. they love Mexican - authentic and not so authentic.

I don't really think noodles were intended to sit on, but to go under your arms, or to hang on to and kick. That being said, I recently took a water aerobics class where they had us use them for a seahorse. I learned you have to put most of it up behind you to balance out your front ;)

Good tip! Now I will be prepared when I meet up with the girls again for F&W next year!!!!! I have a whole year to practice that tip. Cool!!!!

Mary Ellen, I meant to say that I don't think your report is a dud, either. I think alot of back to school stuff has distracted everyone for the past week, as well as holidays and vacations, but things will settle down again. Nice pics, Christine!

I know. Like I said in an earlier post - I think I just got social media overload and there were a couple things with some of my FB home friends that annoyed me and I let it spill over. I said I was going to cut back on networking, but I have been on FB more than ever tonight. I know its hard to keep up on all my subbed threads if I don't work on it everyday.

Certainly sounds like a lovely evening at Epcot! Mexico is one of my favourite pavillions. Its just so pretty, especially at night. The new restaurant sounds nice - and so do those ritas! ;)

It really is gorgeous at night. I love it there. That's why I put it on our first night in December. I know Nick loves it there and Denny, well he pretty much likes everything so he's easy. Plus I know he will love the ritas!

Mary Ellen I totally get what you mean about social networking overload!!!! Some days I feel like I have spent most of my day on here when I should be doing other things. I'm having a break during our trip by not going anywhere near the Internet and then busying myself with supply work afterwards!

I always leave my computer home when I travel anymore, but I make up for it with my phone. I love the ability to keep connected to so many people but there are times when it just feels surreal. It is bad when you start to let things slide, which I am sure we have all done.

Seems like you are missing Brian so am sending positive thoughts and hugs your way my friend  I'm going to send you a f/book request though feel free to leave it hanging until you are ready to return to the social networking world :goodvibes

Thank you!!!! I really appreciate the hugs! I was very excited to get your friend request today. I can't wait to follow along if you post about your trip. It's going to be wonderful!

Mary Ellen-I totally agree about the social networking overload. Never felt that way until I got facebook a few weeks ago. It is truly addictive.

It really is. It seems that anytime I have a free minute I am checking it at work. I even found myself checking it at church yesterday. Sheesh! I mean - that's bad. I feel like a kid.

Too funny about the art of noodling. My son is an expert on it.

Kids - they can do anything. But I am still impressed by my co-travelers skills in this department!

Wow, those margartias look fabulous. I love a good margarita but have to watch with my band now. It can make me very drunk with just a little bit! :scared1: My husband says I am a cheap date!

Wow, those shrimp tacos look fabulous. I want to eat there some time. We tried San Angel Inn the last trip.
Well - than these ritas might not be for you because they are STRONG! But Oh So Good! Cheap date - :lmao: your DH must love that!

The shrimp tacos were very good. It was a very fun, very tasty meal!

Loved you flag pictures!

Thank you. Glad you liked them.

I haven't abandoned you!! Lots of things going on here...back to working six days a week, major flooding in my area (my house is fine...way up high on a hill) last week so many roads/bridges closed. My 5 minute commute has turned into at least a half hour each way because of damage to one of the major bridges I crossed daily. It is so sad to see so much destruction and debris in front of people's homes that lost so much, some everything.

Oh Tracy I know you have been terribly busy because you are not even on FB, well - except for that birthday hurricane or tornado or whatever the heck that was. :rotfl: Then your post of the animals drowning was so so so disturbing. So glad your house is OK. It must be awful to be so inconvienced by the floods and to see other people's property be destroyed. It's terrible. You DO need a vacation.

On a happier note....I have enjoyed catching up on the TR and reminiscing about the Ditch...La Hacienda...margaritas..... :goodvibes I think I have had all but the avocado rita at the Ditch. I love avocados and guacamole but I don't know how that will translate into a drink. Guess I will just have to find out. Mmmmm and I loved the blueberry mango from La Hacienda. That was delicious. I think I had the fish tacos too and I remember sharing the chorizo/peppers which were all delicious. I really enjoyed this meal....love Mexican food :goodvibes

Yes - you MUST find out. I have heard so many good things about the avocado rita I have to try it. That blueberry mango rita was amazing. The whole dinner was soooooooo good. Can't wait to go back!!!!

Loved your photo shoot coming back from HS. You left no stone unturned and really captured everything. Enjoyed your flag photos also and video also

Okay...back to work now!!!

Tracy

Thanks!!!! Glad you got a chance to see the flags and the video. I did have fun taking pictures of the YC and BC. The best part is I forgot I took all those.

Cynthia - Your pictures are wonderful and I am going to comment on your entire post tomorrow. But first I have to say or ask??? Did you take that first picture inside RnR???? With your new camera????? I love it! You are brave. I have never taken any pics in there.

Cynthia thanks for sharing the photos of the Yacht club. We have never been there so it's something I need to put on the list for someday.

Thanks! I  the YC, hands down still my favorite resort.

Great photos, Cynthia.

Does the Beach Club not have balconies at all? Or is it like the Poly, where some floors don't have balconies?

Well I misspoke. The difference is that the YC has 100% FULL balconies. At the BC, only some of the rooms have full, the others have those juliet balconies that aren't worth hardly anything. Better than nothing I guess but more of a tease than anything.

I did take it, but with my phone. I might be brave but I'm not crazy! And I did get yelled at.

:rotfl:

So I needed a little break from the trip reports yesterday. Seems I found myself in social networking overload!!!!! I kind of got bummed out about the fact that I post on several people's TR and FB pages repeatedly and I never get so much as a "like" from them on anything I post. I know it is totally immature to feel that way, so I knew I needed a reprieve for a day! I needed to "get a life", so to speak.

I think that's entirely reasonable. And, no, I actually don't think its immature to feel that way. :rotfl: We all put ourselves out there and its frustrating when people don't respond and you respond to them. Imagine if that were happening in real time, you'd feel like you were having a completely one sided conversation with someone who was ignoring you. Not pleasant.

It's weird, because I feel like I have alot more free time since Brian left for school, so I've channeled it into more social networking time and I think I may be a bit addicted. :scared1: Maybe that's why I was a FB resistor for awhile. Plus I don't get the people who have an account on FB and just "lurk". What's up with that? It's a little creepy!

During the hurricane (that really wasn't), when we were hunkered down at my mom's, I was without wireless for twenty four hours and it really bothered me. That was a tad disturbing.

And I loved being able to hear your voice...that was so cool! One of the more amazing things about technology.

Great pictures, Cynthia. Love the shots of the YC. We so enjoyed our BC stay and the YC looked lovely, as well. I just love those resorts :cloud9: and am looking forward to returning.

I just started your trip report and so far I'm loving all the pics and wow a ladies only trip...that sounds like so much fun :woohoo:

Now, as we debated a little earlier, the afternoon seems a wee bit fuzzy for all. After my shopping I am sure we had pool time. Though my noodling abilities were not documented they did not rival Melissa’s. I did flip off the noodle once, soaking my sunglasses but other than that…did ok. Except when some random person tried to borrow mine and I said no. Not nice of me but…we were leaving soon and I didn’t want to deal with asking for it back. Of course, after all that I forgot it at the pool anyway so donated it to someone else. I guess it was the way they asked. It’d be one thing if it had been floating, by itself, in the pool. But to walk over to someone’s lounge chair and ask to borrow a personal item is just well…something I wouldn’t do.

I wouldn't do that either! Just wouldn't. So, again, I am glad I am not the only one who can't operate a noodle. I hate when my sunglasses get wet.

Can't believe you walked back into Epcot to get those pics. Wowsa girl. I just remember it being really hot that day. Really like middle of summer hot!

We also debated whether I took my drink with me as Mary Ellen says she did, or if I went to Soarin' first as we headed into Epcot later, or not. All I know is I was not carrying my cup, or my camera, using only my fabulous little wristlet from Tracy. My question for Mary Ellen is...if you didn't bring your camera (which I know you didn't) and only brought the wristlet...what did you clip your mug to? That's what's got me all confused. Well that and I'm easily confused in general.

You probably didn't take you cup, but I did. Keeping track of it was no problem for me, being an experienced sherpa and all! ;) I didn't clip it to anything - just carried it.

Once at the ditch, I did get there somehow, this time I think I went for the classic, but am not sure. All I know is we all were a little sad we’d rushed to check in, only to wait 45 minutes. It was our choice to wait, for a window but, it would have been nice to have gotten a to go drink had we realized how long it would be. Part of the reason it was so long is there was a bachelorette party in front of us. Or a pre wedding girls only dinner with the girls ranging from maybe 12-60 all in matching, tees with special names on the back (mother of the bride, bridesmaid, etc). Though they were in a separate room I do think getting them set up may have added to our delay. They seemed to be having fun.

You also had your margarita prepared in a different way. I do remember that. It came seperated by ingredients, I think. Please explain that, because I found it intriquing at the time, but I don't have any pictures of how it was served. I do remember you were convinced you got "more" rita that way.

I remember the bridal party now. Too cute! They did all have t-shirts! Caitlin - are you reading - you need pre wedding T-shirts! Darn, I wish I had had my camera because I am sure they would have posed.

Heading back the dreaded packing awaited us. We had a little rum left and somehow decided that having a rum and coke, after our 2 margaritas, while we packed, would ease the pain. It might have eased the pain at the moment but let me tell you, it definitely didn’t help my packing abilities. I ended up having to redo the whole darn thing the next morning as I was definitely maxing out my magical bag. While I love getting mugs from trips, they do take up space in the carryon which means what was there, has to squish into the checked bag somehow. :rotfl:

Just for the record - I did NOT finish my rum and coke! But I still felt a tad hung over the next day. I do remember you fighting with your suitcase. Again, why or why did I not photodocument your struggles with your magical bag. I just couldn't, for the life of me, figure how you were going to get all your sandals back in there. I remember thinking at the time "Look's whose bag is magical now - the one that's already packed -!" :rotfl2: (Sorry - I am actually cracking myself up because I never said it at the time).:rolleyes1

Still - your bag is pretty magical. :thumbsup2 In many ways! I will admit!

Great pictures Christine! I forgot about the server. He WAS charming. And he knew it. :rotfl:

I don't remember feeling rushed at all either, it was just perfect all around. It's a one credit location.

I don't remember our server - darn that tequila!!!!! I totally remember our cute server the next day! :rolleyes1

I haven't had a chance to look at the video but hope to tonight while Evan and Jeff are at the M's/Yankee's game. I was up WAY too late last night watching various shows about the new 9/11 memorial and wow. My eyes hurt from tearing so much!

FB is a funny thing. Good and bad things. I mean I just found out my cousin is engaged. Not just engaged but a date SET and I didn't even know she was dating. This is someone who came to my house for Thanksgiving and Xmas dinner! Whaaa? And folks that I'm not close to will post a lot on my wall, but others I'm far closer to, not. Niether here nor there but I think like anything it is personality, time and life dependent. I can not be on there for a couple of days in a row and miss wishing someone a happy birthday (and then feel really bad).

Or just whine about evan's backpack and not bother taking first day of school pics and posting them.

:rotfl:

I "liked" your AP post today!!!

All the 9/11 ceremonies and commentary were so very sad, but so very necessary as part of the healing process.

Yes - FB is funny like that. I have a home friend that I always comment on his posts and completely cheered him on when he did an open mic night, so I can't believe he wouldn't take the time to view my video. IMHO, You just do that stuff for a fellow amatuer musician. I will admit, I was hurt, but I'll get over it. :goodvibes

I figured saying goodbye to my AP was post worthy. Booze, Disney, kids, and animals - that's what the people of facebook want!

Mary Ellen I enjoyed your misadventures with the noodle. I've never been good with those things either. Your last night did sound great. We love Mexican food. I have yet to try the new place. Thanks for sharing the flag pictures, it was the perfect compliment to remembering 9-11.

.

I am glad to know there is a whole contingent of people who can't noodle!!!!! But I promise you, I WILL learn!

Our last night was totally fun and I'm so glad you liked my flag pics!

Christine lovely twilight photos. I love this time of the day at Epcot too.

I agree - they are lovely!

Cynthia thanks for sharing the photos of the Yacht club. We have never been there so it's something I need to put on the list for someday.

YC and the Poly are the two resorts that make me wish I wasn't DVC. It's not like I can't stay there, but now that I added DVC points I am sure all my stays will be in DVC resorts. Although, I would love to stay at the YC - so pretty.

Great photos, Cynthia.

Does the Beach Club not have balconies at all? Or is it like the Poly, where some floors don't have balconies?

I thought they all had balconies, but maybe there are some rooms that don't. I am sure Christine, our BC expert, knows the answer to that question.

Thanks Tina! I guess at least we are brave enough to put ourselves out there, because some people don't. I have one friend, who I love dearly, who only uses FB to lurk so she knows every little thing that is going on. :confused3

I guess its very easy to get caught up in self promotion and popularity with the FB thing. I guess I just like people to know I am reading and I am interested in what they have to say.

I
During the hurricane (that really wasn't), when we were hunkered down at my mom's, I was without wireless for twenty four hours and it really bothered me. That was a tad disturbing.

And I loved being able to hear your voice...that was so cool! One of the more amazing things about technology.

I was completely prepared to loss my internet, but never did. That is what I love about playing the flute and guitar. I can completely immerse myself in that and it requires no electricity (well - except to see the music )

If you heard my voice in real life you would quickly find that my speaking voice is very, very different from my singing voice. It's strange how that happens.

I am always a little stunned when I hear a DISer talk for the first time because its never how I expect them to sound. Its a neat experience!

Great pictures, Cynthia. Love the shots of the YC. We so enjoyed our BC stay and the YC looked lovely, as well. I just love those resorts :cloud9: and am looking forward to returning.

I hope you do get back there soon, but I know your CSR trip is going to be fabulous! I really want to get back to CSR with my camera! Such a lovely resort!

I just started your trip report and so far I'm loving all the pics and wow a ladies only trip...that sounds like so much fun :woohoo:

:wave2:Welcome Valentinobear! Am I crazy or is the Welcome similie really missing?????? Anyway - welcome to our TR and welcome to the DIS. I hope you love the boards as much as I do. :thumbsup2

I'm still here!!! I still love this TR!!

I completely and totally get the whole social networking overload thing. It's both fun and frustrating - I agree. But I love reading your TR's, and I hope you'll continue to share your great photos and stories with everyone! I'll totally be following along, making a bunch of slightly-out-of-place references to why Epcot is awesome!

Mary Ellen!! I love this TR, hope it goes on for awhile. I do feel like I read it in spurts (I get the alerts on my phone and while I'm waiting at a Dr's office for my job I check them, but then when I go to reply I feel like nothing makes sense)
I wanted to post a message to you anyways, I have a weird request and figured you might be able to help me. But let me respond to the question you asked me before I forget. HAHA this is kind of like a TR where the end is like a cliffhanger and you can't wait to see what happens next. lol Ahh I had my chance to write a TR, maybe next time I will.

WOW I am way off course. lol Anyways, yes we went to the concert on 9/11. It was at an outdoor venue, which how I've never been there in my whole life is beyond me, but most concerts I go to are at a different venue. Anyways when a concert is outside, there doesn't seem to be any ummm rules. Meaning anything goes and there really isn't a maximum capacity either. One of the bands (My Chemical Romance) did make a hint of mention that the day was in fact 9/11, but I don't think anyone could really hear him. The other band, Blink 182, they didn't say anything. It just was a rowdy crowd. I have some interesting pics. lol

And if you were my FB friend, I would message you! lol So we need to do that. Ok now for my FAVOR. Waaaayyy early on in the TR one of your trip-mates bought perfume that had one of the notes in it that was dark chocolate. I remember reading at the time and thinking ooh I want to google that it sounds heavenly. Do you have any idea which perfume it was? I was thinking about it the other day again and it was driving me nuts.

OK that's the big request. Hope you had a good day, and look forward to 'talking' to you soon!

Yay! Mary Ellen finally got her Ditch Rita!!! :woohoo: Still sad you missed out on that with us last May....

You guys had a perfect table for dinner! Do they pipe the music in during Illuminations?

I can sit on a noodle, takes me a minute to get my balance, but once I do I can sit like that for a long time. Keep practicing ME, you'll get it :thumbsup2

So glad you're still following along! I continued to follow up this trip report with another. I think I am going to start it soon and just segway from Williamsburg to Hilton Head to Disney. Oh, I have plenty of trips in my queue! In fact, that's going to be my title - or at least something like that.

Mary Ellen!! I love this TR, hope it goes on for awhile. I do feel like I read it in spurts (I get the alerts on my phone and while I'm waiting at a Dr's office for my job I check them, but then when I go to reply I feel like nothing makes sense)

Oh - you definitely should write a TR.

I can't DIS at all on my phone. Too small. Too frustrating.

Sounds like a cool concert. Glad you got some great pictures - of the bands and the rowdy crowd! :rotfl: It surprises me when people don't even acknowledge 9/11. I don't understand it.

I hope we can get this FB thing figured out. I know that my phone is sometimes slow so maybe I didn't get your request yet. My FB keeps getting slower and slower. I wonder if my phone needs to reboot or something.

I will ask Melissa and Tracy about the perfumes they purchased.

Yay! Mary Ellen finally got her Ditch Rita!!! :woohoo: Still sad you missed out on that with us last May....

Can you believe it took that long? :rotfl: Ridiculous! I thought it was never going to happen!

You guys had a perfect table for dinner! Do they pipe the music in during Illuminations?

It was a great table. I don't remember them playing the music, but then again I was just a tad buzzed by that point! :rolleyes1

I can sit on a noodle, takes me a minute to get my balance, but once I do I can sit like that for a long time. Keep practicing ME, you'll get it :thumbsup2

Michelle - I need A LOT of practice!!!!! But now I have a goal so by F&W of 2012 I WILL be noodling with the best of them. :rotfl:

Mary Ellen,

This trip reports is certainly no dud! I have been lurking for quite some time and just for you, I'll come out of lurkdom! It's great to read about a girls trip and so amazing that you all met here on the DIS. Great posts from everyone and definately some new things (drinks) to consider for our next trip.

Welcome!!!!!!
Chattadisser Christine and welcome to the DIS! Thanks so much for coming out of lurkdom and saying hello!!!!! I see you have a trip in a month!!! :woohoo:Soooooooooo many DISers are going around that time! I am so jealous of all of you! I hope you continue to follow our TR!

Mary Ellen, I am still here. Just lurking, because life has not handed me a box of chocolates lately and i have been down in the dumps....:sad2:

Still loving the trip report. so great to read all about the fun and see the pictures.....
Thank You.

KIM

I was wondering where/when you bought the whisk for "a certain someone"! Now I can publically thank you for my wonderful Mickey whisk, which I actually use almost daily! THANKS, Cynthia!

Finally- FINALLY a trip to the Ditch!! Don't you just love that place?

The Hacienda looks like a fabulous place to eat, and I'm glad you gals waited for a window. What a a perfect way to round out your time.

Your pictures of the topiaries were amazing! Someday, I'll make it back to F&G- no time soon, but someday. I could spend days at EPCOT during those weeks.

:cloud9:

I was a bit behind and boo, now it's your last moments! :sad1: And MEK, this report is far from being a dud, I've enjoyed it!!!! :goodvibes

Glad to hear La Hacidenda was a hit with everyone - I agree! I tried it in May--very good stuff! Joe is anxious to try it after my review too, so we will end up back there sooner than later!
