ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

The excitement is killing me. I feel like a little kid counting down the days. Can't wait till our 1st Poly stay!! If anyone has been in later September and can speak to the weather I would appreciate it. I am a little bit worried ~ Thank you all for a great thread on the Poly!

We've been the past three Septembers and I believe it has rained for a total of 3-4 hours in the 21 days that we've been there. We usually arrive right around the 19th. It's beautiful, hot to mild, humid, but not too bad. It's our favorite time of year!

Hello! Do all rooms of all three floors in the Hawaii building have patios/balconies? I've stay on the first floor and had a nice patio. Do the
2nd and 3rd floors both have full balconies?

Thanks!

No, 2nd floor has a false balcony, a rolling window/door, no balcony. 3rd has a full balcony

Me too! We are coming in the 22nd. I know the heat seems unbearable right now, but yesterday I felt that infinitessimal slight change in the weather that tells me fall is on it's way! September at WDW will be glorious!

We were there last yr Sept 10-19th and it rained once, down poured so bad it flooded Tommorrowland in about 12 mins then it stopped for the night (they were able to do parade and Wishes) and that was the only rain we saw the entire trip..

Hoping this trip will be that great!

SO EXCITED! Yay for the passholder discount for the fall!! We were going to do a one night before our week long package at the Poly but it was SO expensive that we decided to stay in one room at the BWI. HOWEVER.... thanks to the Passholder discount that was released we are now staying in the Poly for one night! We got to book TPV CL which is the same room we are in for our package so hopefully we get the same room for 8 nights!!! :yay: I can't imagine they would move us! Anyone had experience with this? :confused3

We love late September. Doesn't usually rain too long. Less crowded. See you there!!

Highly unlikely that you would be asked to move if it is the same level of service for which you paid in your package. Congratulations on the get! :cool1:

This is super reassuring since I've never been in September and have been dreading the head and humidity. We usually go in March/April, June, or October. I'm so excited to be there in just over a month.

Congrats, I love a good deal, happy for you!:cool1:

When does the volcano pool close for the night ? I have stayed at CSR and I think the life guards were off duty at 9 or 10 but you could still swim after they left. Are the rules the same at the Poly ?

Yes, you can still swim after the lifeguards have left the volcano pool but the slide is closed.

Well, DH said I could book it...a getaway at the Poly this fall! Woot!!! And Aulani next spring! Double woot!!!!

Question about the cabanas - I am interested in getting one and someone mentioned getting food from a menu. By ANY chance, would I be able to order the shrimp, broccoli, potstickers, and bread pudding they serve at Ohanas (after 4 of course)? Or the sushi from the sushi bar? This will determine whether or not I book dinner the same night. Thank you!!!

You can get food from room service and Kona. Now... IF you book the premium cabana, I would almost bet they could get something from Ohana for you. No guarantees but if you get the "butler" for the day that is definitely a possibility!

Hi Guys!! I am falling in love with the Poly! We have only ever eaten there. BUT........in 77 more sleeps, we will finally be staying there for 12 nights for the first time!!!!!! Yay! So, all the Poly regulars and faithful, please keep listing tips, tricks, must-dos, must-knows, etc. I can't wait to be able to contribute my own! But, for now...I look forward to hearing from all of you!

I actually was considering the premium cabana but I don't like the location :scared1: I like the other cabanas because I can see the pool and the slide and keep an eye on the kids. I trust the lifeguards but hey, I'm a mom :)

DH is getting double good hubby bonus points for agreeing to this trip!! We went in May so I can't believe I got him to agree to go this fall. He's feeling very guilty over missing our 10 year anniversary. But I did tell him this is a relaxing trip - sleeping in, cabanas, water activities, and just a bit of the parks thrown in. I'm still astonished he agreed though.

The cabanas are definitely a bonus! I LOVED having one in May! :goodvibes We are getting one in November, pending the weather is good!

Glad to hear this...we will be checking in on Sep 19th :yay:

2 more sleeps until I leave for FL, and only 5 more sleeps until I am at the POLY!:banana::banana::banana:

I have much to do tomorrow, it's not even funny, but I don't even really care. I am just so excited to finally be going! :yay:
