To pay for refillable mugs or not ?

We will be there with free dining for 4 days. I dont know if I should get the refillable mugs for 2 adults and 1 child or not. They are so expensive, but I know my adult daughter will fill her mug several times a day. During our last trip I usually only filled mine at night. My grand daughter will drink maybe 2 mugs filled a day. Free dining gives you a drink with your meals and we could purchase them as a snack. The mugs are great to take home, then again they cost what 13.00 or 14.00 ? How much are they now anyway. I could just get 2 mugs and share with my grand daughter? What do you think would be the best thing to do ?

we always get 2 mugs when we go. DH and I use them in the morning for coffee at least twice, the kids use them in the afternoon for drinks by the pool so we definitely get our money's worth out of them. I won't buy one for each of us; I see no problem with sharing the mugs within a family.

We spent 10 days at AKV & BCV last month. Mugs were $13.99 each.

I would get at least one. I think they make a great souvenir. I also think if you are going to fill up at least 6 or 7 times, they are worth it.

We purchased 3 last month, btw.

We've never bought them. Always carry our water with us for when we get thirsty waiting in the hot lines. We have always gone to WDW in the summer so only wanted to drink soda/pop during our meals. DH is a bigger pop drinker than I am but also only wanted water in the heat. We have our coffee in the room while getting ready.
I agree with others it depends on how much use you would get out of it. If we went in cooler months we would consider buying them. In cooler weather hot chocolate at night would nice too.

We considered buying the mugs on our last trip, but because we were drinking soda at both lunch and dinner with the dining plan (we would normally get soda at one meal and have water at the other) and don't drink coffee, we decided against it.

We don't drink soda, but we do drink coffee. I, however, cannot stand Disney coffee, so a mug was useless for me. DH liked the coffee and knew he would have some every day, so he bought the mug. It was well worth it, just for him, just for that stay!

So if someone's going to use it, get it for them. I personally wouldn't share; it either works for you or it doesn't, and if it doesn't, IMO, don't buy it.

Sometimes we buy mugs...sometimes we don't. This last trip we took DS13 and DS7. DH did not plan on buying mugs. Upon our arrival at the resort/food court, I told DH...I would hate to buy drinks and then LATER decide we want mugs. Buying right then would offer the maximum value on the mugs. He decided we'd go ahead and buy them. We REALLY enjoyed the mugs! If you are going to hang out at the resort at all, they are such a great thing to have with you. Our mornings were cool (mid-Feb) so we would take mugs of hot tea with cream and sugar with us in the car as we would go to the parks. We would stop on our way back and get iced tea or iced coffee for our nap/swim time (usually multiple drinks during or after swim time). Then, we would rinse our mugs and always keep them in the car with us. We'd stop at the lobby (PORFQ) and food court after the parks at night and pick up another mug of coffee, tea or cocoa. I don't know why it always seemed like such a treat, but our boys just think it is such a special thing.

1.) How much time will you spend at your resort, it's food court and it's pool?

2.) What's the weather like during your trip? We have found that we receive the most value during times of temperature extremes...hot or cool/cold weather.

One reason I love the quick service dining plan is because the mugs are included. We get coffee in the morning, soda/iced tea later, and sometimes a hot chocolate treat at night. I'd have no problem sharing the mug with a family member; sometimes we just bring 1 or 2 to the park so we can drink on the way and fill up again on the way back to our room.

Well we plan on spending half a day at the resort is about it but, we will eat there in the mornings and we usually like to have snacks and drinks after we get back from the parks. So I'm guessing we should get a couple anyway.

We always buy them for everyone one of us. The kids love having their own and it's really not that expensive if you think about it. We send one adult down every morning to get coffee or soda or juice and then when we return from the parks for a break we ave a drink and a snack an at night we fill up again.

We have only done this so I was unaware they are not included in a resort stay!:confused3

I love them for at home as well! I always know which is mine in a hockey crowd!!

We usually get at least one mug. We like to have it as a souvie. Often my DD and I just share as we both drink the same thing and are quite happy to share one during a meal and then get a refill, to go, as we leave the food court.

I would get a couple for all reasons previously mentioned. We get them every time (last time inc. with our QSDP) and enjoying using them when we get home (we take them along to those night time softball games/practices along with a coffee butler-nice and hot!) For us they are are fairly inexpensive souvenir and we don't really buy many souvenirs. Of course, they were a better souvenir when each resort had their own.;) We have ones from AKL, CBR, POFQ, POR, POP, and the more generic ones as well.

I saw go for it! (at least 2 of them)

They are only included with the quick service plan :(

No...also the deluxe plan.

Next year all the plans will include a mug.

I am curious to find the answer to this. I thought I had read that the mugs were included with the dining plan. We just went 6/30 to 7/7 and had free dining. We upgraded to the plan that has one TS, one CS and a snack and when I asked if we got a mug, we were told no. So we bought five:scared1: Were we given the wrong information??

Currently, 2011, only the QSDP and DxDDP include a mug. The DDP which is what you describe does not include a mug. You did need to purchase them if you wanted them.

Next year, 2012, all the plans will include a mug.

every year we always buy mugs for each one of us. one member in our party is also a heavy coffee drinker and does not mind disney coffee. they usually drank at least 2 mugs worth every morning .

usually our counter service meals are at the resort. so during our counter service meals we use the refillable mugs (i usually get iced tea or lemonade). we then get a bottled water, milk, or juice with our meal and save it for either breakfast in the room the next am or for the parks. before the parks we always make a trip to our food court and i make everyone drink a mug worths of water, iced tea or lemonade(no soda). we fill them up with ice water for the parks.

the mugs kept the water cold for hours. between the bottled water we had saved, the water in our mugs, and our drinks from our sit down meals (usually in the parks), we never had to buy drinks or spend snack credits on water. when we ran out of water i would just go to counterservice places and ask for cups of ice water. i then would pour the water in our mugs since they are insulated.

when we got back from the parks we would always stop and fill them with drinks several times an evening (especially when we were by the pool).we must have filled them at least 5x a day. when you consider that one drink would have cost anywhere from $2-3 and change, the mugs really are a bargain. look forward to having them with our dining plan next year since we use them so heavily. :)
