NEWS FLASH: You must be 4YO to go to Disney! Oct '11 PTR, 10/24 WE'RE BACK! p 18

I know Caden will LOVE the Jedi training. I am also making sure to set aside $$ for a build your own lightsaber for him. He has a lightsaber at his dad's house but not one at mine. All little boys need lightsabers, right?

Of course they do! DS has a store bought one and a double sided one he made at Downtown Disney. We actually all have store bought ones. DH, DS and DD got theirs for Christmas one year and I just bought one for myself one day that I found on clearance or something. It was a different color than theirs and hey you can never have too many. :rotfl:

One of my favorite memories is when DS had a friend spend the night and DH got all the lightsabers and started to walk out the back door. The boys were so confused and asking what he was doing with those. They ended up dueling in the dark for at least half an hour.

On the agenda for today....DAY 3 plans!

Day 3 - EPCOT - Monday, October 17

Everything sounds good. I'm planning more this time. There are so many rides we've missed and this is my fourth try at World Showcase. Fourth times a charm right? I wish I had thought of Maelstrom fast passes when we ate at Akershus last time. I think I spent too much time just chatting on the community boards and didn't learn enough about the rides. :rotfl:

Have you looked at the special maps you can order lately? They added all the street acts as favorite choices. I was excited to order mine the other day with the street acts all listed. It said I might not get them in time which didn't make sense because I think it said 2-4 weeks and our trip is over 16 weeks away. :sad2:

Great Epcot plans! :thumbsup2 I love World Showcase, I could just wander around and not even do anything and be perfectly happy! :thumbsup2 Illuminations is so amazing, I can't wait to see it again, I listen to the music almost every day!

I think your plans are great. I am a fan of the Future World morning/World Showcase evening split. I am planning on getting Jack a passport for the same reason, I really want to spend some time in the WS, without him throwing a fit. I am hoping to get Jack some time in Innoventions this time as well. Since it's just me and him, we will be skipping Mission:Space. I am not sure about Test Track. I am not a fan, but I feel like Jack should get to experience everything he is tall enough for :lmao:

Since this will be our 2nd park day in a row with all day touring I think Caden will be content to just chill in the stroller for a bit. If not, or if he's cranky, we can always take a break and go back to the resort for a rest/nap before returning for our 6:50 ADR. I hope we don't have to leave the park, but it's always an option.

I know what you mean about letting the little ones experience all that they are tall enough for. I don't want to force him to ride anything he doesn't want to, but I want him to enjoy all the fun stuff WDW has to offer.

Hi! :wave2: Joining in...love all your plans so far!

Sorry I'm so behind on my comments. :rolleyes1 Life gets in the way! ;)

Anyway, a belated :welcome: to you! Thanks for joining in....more updates to come!

I have tried really hard to force myself to learn as much about ALL the rides (and shows) as possible. I want to be well prepared....and of course I am self-proclaimed OCD so everything must be perfect! Right? :rolleyes1

The last set of maps I ordered was back in January or February, so I think my 6 months has passed and I can order more now! That's great that they have added the street acts as favorites. I will definitely need to go check that out! Thanks!

The last time I was ay WDW (2006) I was with 3 guys and we didn't really explore WS at all. Go figure! :rolleyes1 The time before that I was just a teenager and didn't care about WS. I am totally looking forward to just wandering around and taking in all the details.

Just joining in! We are taking our first October trip to the world this year and I'm soooo excited! MNSSHP and Food & Wine....

:welcome:! Glad to have you on board. Sorry for the delayed welcome...I have somewhat neglected my PTR. :yo-yo: I'm back now so be watching for more updates!

I know what you mean!! I have been stressing out about whether Jack will get to that magic number of 40 inches. He seems so tall to me, and he seems like he is getting taller everyday, but when I measure him, he's just not there yet. I finally realized there is no reason to stress about something I can't change, it's not like we won't have a good time regardless! It's Disney World after all!!

I guess the first thing I should address is my absence....YEAH, I got NOTHING! :confused3 Life got in the way and I disappeared for a few, but I'm back now!

Of course, since I've been absent I haven't updated my PTR. Well, yesterday I was here, responded to some posts, settled in and typed my post. The ENTIRE thing was typed and all I had to do was change the font, color, etc. Instead of selecting all the text I accidentally closed my internet browser...subsequently DELETING my entire post! :badpc: I was so mad  that I just turned my computer off and walked away! I was NOT in the mood to type it all again. Sooooo....here I am today to try this again! ;) Fingers crossed I don't so something silly again! :goodvibes

Up next on the PTR is Day 4. Here goes nothing.....

Day 4 - Rest/Break Day - Tuesday, October 18

Alright, I know it says break/rest day up above. I can hear the moans and groans now.....BORING! Everyone thinking that just STOP RIGHT THERE! I promise there's more to it than just resting. I'll even throw in a few pictures to spice it up a bit!

Seeing as I am the Disney fanatic of the group, if it were solely up to me we'd go to WDW for 14+ days and be in a park EVERY DAY! But alas, I don't think Caden and my grandparents can handle that and I would like to keep my boyfriend! So instead, we'll have 2 park touring days, a break day (THIS DAY) 2 more park touring days and then 1 more day before departure. For our break day there isn't really a plan (well except for the evil plan I have...bwahahaha)!

Since we plan to make rope drop for all of our park days this will be one of our only days to sleep in so that's what we'll do. Once we're all up we will head down to the All Star Movies Food Court for breakfast.

ASMoFoodCourt.jpg

After breakfast it will be time for a little fun in the sun at the Fantasia pool. Caden really likes Fantasia (specifically Sorcerer Mickey) so I think he's gonna LOVE  the pool!

ASMoPool.jpg

Not sure how much time we'll spend at the pool initially, but I want to spend some time at Downtown Disney this day also. I have a few specific things/places in mind that I want to accomplish/visit. Definite stops will include:

DSCN2199.jpg

WorldofDisneyStore.jpg

LegoStore.jpg

I know Caden will be in heaven in the Lego Store :cloud9: and I'll be sure to set aside some $$ for him to spend here. I also want him to do the Build Your Own LightSaber :darth:. (That's in Once Upon A Toy, right?). As far as lunch goes it will be Counter Service but it's a toss up where...either Earl or Wolfgang Puck Express. I have always wanted to try the Wolfgang Puck place, but I have read some awesome reviews for Earl here on the DIS so I'm undecided! :confused3. I have both menus printed so I guess we'll see what we're in the mood for when hunger strikes. :rotfl2:

I'm not 100% sure yet but I might have a small surprise up my sleeve for Wayne and Caden at Downtown Disney! I think we might take a trip up in the tethered balloon Characters in Flight.

Characters_in_Flight2_medium.jpg

I think they would both enjoy it and I know I would too! Has anyone done this? Was it fun? Worth the money? Great view or just okay? Great photo op? HELP! I need feedback on this one!

After exploring Downtown Disney we'll head back to the resort for a little R&R or perhaps some more pool time before dinner. Since we aren't doing a park this day we'll actually be able to get cleaned up for dinner so we'll probably get dressed up a little (think sundress, khakis, polos) and hopefully get some nice family photos.

We'll be heading over to 'Ohana at the Poly for dinner. Our ADR is for 6:30. I can't wait to enjoy all the delicious food at 'Ohana. The menu looks spectacular! Mmmmmmmm! After dinner we'll play it by ear. We might take a stroll on the Poly beach or maybe play a little mini golf at Fantasia Gardens or Winter Summerland. (Has anyone been to either? Both? Is one or the other better (easier) for young kids?)

Whatever we decide to do (or not do) after dinner we'll try to make it a somewhat early night. After all we have a BIG day the next day! Can anyone guess which park will be up next? :rolleyes1 I want to make sure we are all well rested...myself included!

As you can see....our rest day isn't really much of a rest day, but it's a little more low key with a lot less walking. :woohoo: Did I leave anything out? Any places at Downtown Disney that I should add to the "not to be missed" list? The last time I was there was 2006 and I know quite a bit has changed. For one, I was the only girl on a trip with 3 guys so they weren't much up for shopping! :sad2: I know that Pleasure Island is now no more and several shops have closed and several have been added! What are your recommendations?

I hope in the next couple days I will have a chance to add another short update. I have some fun stuff to share! So stay tuned! :happytv:

P.S. - I'm not sure if I still have many readers (I know I was absent too....whoopsie). Please chime in and let me know if you're still here. Of course, I think I would still be writing even without readers....this is so much fun! :thumbsup2

finally catching up again on this 4th of July weekend!

love your Epcot day. it looks doable and a stroller for your DS is a good idea for WS. Mine is 3.5 and he managed to ride TT and Soarin last December (he had just turned 3). He was tall enough, but then again, he's tall (always been like 90th percentile). he loved both.

I plan to do the passport for him in WS too and he enjoyed the kidcot stations too- those are fun for the little guys. Or buying him a little treat in each country- like a small piece of candy or something. We've also taken pics in the hats in the stores at each country, something else fun to do.

we are doing dinner at Teppan Edo as well- our first time there!

Your "rest" day looks like my type of rest day. LOL! We LOVE Earle at DTD. I haven't tried WGP yet, but people rave about it too, especially for a great use of the dining plan. We pay out of pocket and Earle is a lot of food and a great deal! We eat there twice a trip if we can, we just love the sandwiches. Don't let the long line scare you either, it is always that way and moves really fast.

We love the lego store too and I can't wait to check out the newly expanded store and creations outside! The light sabers are at Once Upon a Toy. We plan to get another one this trip. DH got one our first trip when DS was barely 2, he just now has started really playing with it and knows what Stars wars is now. So we will probably do it again more for him this time (last time was more for DH, lol). If Caden is into cars, the Ridemarkerz place is cool too- it is at the other end of the DTD area, near the movie theatre. WE checked it out last year, but DS wasn't all that into it yet (he is obsessed with trash cans and that is all he cared about there, looking at the trash cans). He isn't a huge car nut, but we checked it out since DH is a huge car nut. We might try it again in a few years. It is a build your own remote control car. they have all kinds, including lightning mcqueen.

I'm still here!

I disappeared for a little while too. Life just gets in the way sometimes. It really ticks me off too. I need at least once a week to prop up my phone and watch Ricky's Inside the Magic show while I dis. My computer can't handle playing youtube while I do other stuff. :rotfl:

I feel your pain with losing the entire post. I did that once. ONCE! Now I type it all out on Word, hit save and then cut and paste. Sometimes the dis goes down right when I hit the submit button since I tend to post late at night and it has saved me some serious headaches. That first time was painful though. It was a big update on my one and only trip report. Made me depressed and I abandoned the report for a couple of weeks. :headache:

I love your day of rest. I don't think I could handle an entire day of resting at the resort when at Disney. Our resting is just scheduled for half a day.

Take care and try not to disappear again. :goodvibes

Caden is already almost 43" tall. It's possible he might even hit 44" before we leave. We'll have to see! :goodvibes

I like the idea of taking pictures in different hats in the shops in WS. How fun! I'm just overall looking forward to exploring WS!

I might have to go post over on the dining board for suggestions/recommendations on why people like Earle or WGP. IDK! :confused3

Glad you're still here! :woohoo:

I think my jaw literally hit the floor when I lost that post. I was so mad at myself. I am definitely MUCH more conscious of what I am doing now! ;)

Part of me is not really happy about taking a full rest day at the resort, but I think it will be best for everyone and we will be rejuvenated for the next day. That's really what I am most concerned about!

I don't think I will be disappearing again....at least I hope not. I am working on another update, but it requires me to take some pics and upload so it might be a couple more days! :thumbsup2

caught back up...how did I miss a post in there too  :guilty:

On the agenda for today....DAY 3 plans!

Day 3 - EPCOT - Monday, October 17

I have added YOU to my tour plan for EP this day! :cool1: this will make a for a great Dismeet day! I'll PM you

I don't really have a PLAN for World Showcase touring {GASP} but I have never leisurely toured WS so that is my goal. I will DEFINITELY bring a stroller for Caden for this day because I know he will NOT want to walk through WS while I explore. I hope to have a Passport for him so he is not TOO bored the second half of the day! ;)

I wouldn't worry...we don't over plan our WS touring either I try to soak in the countries and let my eyes, ears, and tummy lead me ;) to help plan for the live entertainment this is great tool:

http://wdwent.com/

I'm TOTALLY open for suggestions here....what are your favorite street performers, mini shows, etc to see in WS?

I like to jot down on my tour card which ones I'd like to catch and if we are there great :thumbsup2 I personally like Sergio the Itlaian juggler...our DD Bekah was chosen to be his assistant during our '09 trip...a wonderful memory but he is very entertaning!

the Karmel kitchen in Germany has delectable treats always worth a stop...the water fish/koi ponds in Japan are fun to see and there is always a Kim Possible Mission :thumbsup2

Day 4 - Rest/Break Day - Tuesday, October 18

Alright, I know it says break/rest day up above. I can hear the moans and groans now.....BORING! Everyone thinking that just STOP RIGHT THERE! I promise there's more to it than just resting. Not sure how much time we'll spend at the pool initially, but I want to spend some time at Downtown Disney this day also. I have a few specific things/places in mind that I want to accomplish/visit.

I am all about the rest day...it really is a great idea! every trip we have taken has included a full non park rest=down time day...you need it :thumbsup2 we usually hanfg at the resort, have a good meal and have done the DTD marketplace shopping thing too.

We've also taken pics in the hats in the stores at each country, something else fun to do.

:thumbsup2 great great idea...i have done this on various trips over the yrs too w/ my kids...they get a kick out of it and makes for some great scrapbook layouts ;)

Hello! Just found your PTR. I have a 4 yr old lil man too! We told him he couldn't go back to WDW until his little brother was born-He was born in Feb and you better believe after about day 2 DS was saying when are we going to WDW cause baby brother is here! I guess that was bad planning on our part! :)

Your DS will have so much fun! (and you too of course!) You will love watching your DS experience WDW. I still get teared up when I watch the video of DSs first trip down Main St USA!

I HATE when I have my post (or most of it) done and I lose it!!! :headache: I've done the same thing and closed the computer and came back later. :)

Your "easy" day looks great. That sounds like an "easy" day I would do. :thumbsup2 We really want to go up in the balloon as well. It'll be a short trip for us so I'm not sure if we'll make it to Downtown Disney. I really like that area though. World of Disney is my favorite store. :lovestruc

I have so many threads I'm following I seem to always miss something, somewhere. ;)

Someone else told me about the Karmel Kitchen...OMG that totally has MY name all over it! :thumbsup2

I LOVE  DTD Marketplace so I think this will be a fun day, even though we'll be out of the parks!

:thumbsup2 great great idea...i have done this on various trips over the yrs too w/ my kids...they get a kick out of it and makes for some great scrapbook layouts ;)

I love to scrapbook, so I'll definitely be looking for opportunities and photo ops for fun layouts.

:welcome: aboard! Glad to have you here reading along. Isn't it funny the things we tell our kiddos and the way that they interpret them? :lmao: Just the other day, I told my son if he was good that we would do something "special". My idea of special was taking him to the park or something. His response was "I want to go to Disney World!" :rotfl: He hasn't even ever been to WDW and already I've turned him into a Disney Nut like me! :thumbsup2 Mission Accomplished!

I HATE when I have my post (or most of it) done and I lose it!!! :headache: I've done the same thing and closed the computer and came back later. :)

I love technology but sometimes I just HATE it! :badpc:

I think our easy day will be loads of fun! I'm pumped! I hope we can make it up in the balloon...we'll see. Good luck to you making it up as well.
:goodvibes

Time for another update! This is a FUN one!

I had hoped to get this up a few days ago but this update is heavy on pics and I just haven't had time to take all the pictures and get them uploaded. I know I still have a few more days worth of trip details but I'll get back to that later! ;)

Over the last couple months I've been doing some Disney shopping. Whenever I have a little extra cash or find an amazing deal I pick something up. I didn't think that I had bought very many things. I have a box that I have been keeping my purchases in. When I opened it this evening and started pulling things out it was like clowns emerging from a tiny car at the circus! :scared1: OMG...where and when did I get all this stuff? I think maybe it multiplied in the box...like Gremlins in water!

For our trip I wanted to be sure that Caden had a new Disney shirt or 2, so awhile back I picked up this Pirate shirt at the Disney store:
P1100566.jpg

It's a little hard to read in the picture. It says: Never Trust a Smiling Pirate! pirate:

Then just last week I got this on Clearance at the Disney Store. I thought it would be a good shirt for Caden to wear on our DHS day.
P1100564.jpg

I was excited that Caden was going to have 2 new shirts to wear while in Disney. Well.....I COMPLETELY forgot that last year before Toy Story 3 came out I bought Caden 2 Toy Story tees in sizes that he could wear this year. :rolleyes1 Now Caden has 4 new shirts to wear while in Disney! Here's the Toy Story ones:
P1100565.jpg

P1100567.jpg

Of course...I couldn't let Caden be the only one with cute new shirts for Disney. So I did what any good mommy does...I bought shirts for myself too! :lmao: They both came from the Disney Store and I LOVE them!
P1100570.jpg

P1100571.jpg

As much as I wanted Wayne to have a shirt or 2 as well I was pretty sure that he would be uncooperative and a Disney grump. A few weeks back we happened to be at Target and they had their "vintage style" men's T-shirts on sale for $8 and Wayne decided he wanted THIS shirt:
P1100572.jpg

Woooohooo: I knew we were headed in the right direction now. I told Wayne that since Animal was a Muppet and there is a Muppets ride at DHS that he now had a shirt for our first park day! He just rolled his eyes at me.

Well, since he had agreed to wear a character shirt I figured I would take it upon myself to buy him another one. Hehe! I thought this shirt was appropriate for the attitude he was giving me about character shirts.
P1100569.jpg

When I brought it home he actually said "I really like that shirt. It fits me well." At least he's a good sport about it!

I have just two more purchases (and a litte Disney Magic) to share tonight. Then you'll have to keep your eye out for the rest of my goodies in a future post.

Last week when I picked up the Agent P shirt and the Grumpy shirt I let Caden pick out a Vinylmation. I mentioned back on my Day 1 plans that I had picked up a Vinylmation for Caden's Welcome Package (Kaa from The Jungle Book: Villians Series). I wanted him to know what the Vinylmations were. I showed them to him at the Disney Store and let him choose what series he wanted. He chose Villians and this is what he got:
P1100545.jpg

It's the Old Hag from Snow White! He was really excited about it and put it on the shelf in his room!

My last purchase is one with a little Disney Magic and Pixie Dust. On one of my trips to the Disney Store a few weeks back, one of the things I was considering purchasing was one of the aluminum water bottles. They were priced around $10 I think and I was trying to be frugal...:rotfl: so I decided NOT to buy one. I got to the checkout counter with my other purchases and noticed behind the counter they had the aluminum water bottles with the neoprene "bottle koozie" with carrying strap for $6 with a $25 purchase. Unfortunatley, I didn't have $25 in purchases. :sad2: I asked the cashier if the bottles were only with a purchase or how much they were regularly (I was simply curious since they had the cover included). He said "You can get it for $6...I've had enough people say no to the offer today!" :scared1: Yeeehaaaa....how AWESOME! I was really excited and could feel the Disney Magic. pixiedust: Here's the bottle:
P1100549.jpg

And here it is outside of the cover:
P1100551.jpg

I think it's just adorable...and for $6 it was a steal!

Thanks for stopping by for another update. Let me know what you think of my obsession/purchases! Stay tuned for more!

love all the shirts! that pirate one is so cute!!! i will have to look for it at our disney outlet this week. We have that white toy story one too!

your shirts are too cute as well.

my DH is the same way, he isn't into the disney shirts. however, last trip, i bought him a mickey shirt, pretty plain, grey shirt with mickey and WDW on it. he wore it! I think he didn't mind since he knew DS would love it. Amazing what they will do for the kiddos!

that bottle is awesome!!!! i hope they have those at ours too. I think i am going to call in sick on thursday to go with mom and family to our local outlet mall about 20 mins away. They have a new legoland imagination center and new aquarium opening, plus they have a disney outlet and rainforest cafe, so i totally get my little disney fix there. they always have a ton of great shirts too, including a lot of DL and WDW outcasts. can't wait to go now after seeing your big score of purchases!! :thumbsup2

Sounds like a little piece of heaven and a perfect Disney fix. I wish we had an outlet store nearby...that would be AWESOME!! Of course, chances are good I would spend more money there because of the deals! :rotfl:

I hope you guys have fun. I'll be looking forward to hearing what you score!

I am just joining, and have caught up on your PTR, I love the water bottle with the strap!!! WTG on that deal. Loving all your planning. I am also planning a trip (over thanksgiving) I just started my Disney tote and I always end up with sooo much stuff I forgot I had.

****A little tip for you....Stock up on glow sticks and/or Disney themed flashlights or glowing light saber from the dollar stores for your little boy to have during the night parades...Disney sells them but NOT cheap. PS don't forget the batteries if the flashlight/saber needs them...batteries are NOT cheap either

Great score on the water bottle! I picked up some t-shirts for DS at Target over the weekend. They had some disney ones that were on sale for $4. DH asked why I was buying them ahead of time (I got 3) and I said because buying just one in WDW would still be more expensive than buying all 3 right now! He stopped rolling his eyes at me when I said that ;)

I love the t-shirts you got too!

Well Hello! :welcome: Thanks for joining in and catching up! I think the best part about the water bottle was the pixie dust that went along with it! The clerk totally made my day.

I know what you mean about the glow sticks...I thought of that thankfully! My boyfriend used to be a DJ and he has boxes of glow sticks and glow necklaces. Saves me a bundle. I also have a few special goodies I scored online, but more on those later ;)

P.S. - I'm heading over to check out your PTR as soon as I'm done here!

Sometimes the boys are a little slow on the uptake. :rotfl2: Even though I've bought a bunch of stuff already I know I'm still saving a bundle by not buying it all in Disney.
