Favorite Tip?

I think that the best ride to go to in Animal Kingdom first is Kilimanjaro Safari!:bitelip:

My top tips.....
Fastpasses can be used later in the day (after your return time) - so don't panic about being there right on time - so this allows you to plan out the rides you want for later in the day.
Hmmm ....:confused3 Am I reading this right, I understand you can use your fastpass even if the time on it is expired?

The time on the fast pass is the soonest time you can use it. It's good for the rest of the day.

On every fast pass there are 3 times. The two big print times are the times you are supposed to return between i.e. 3:10 and 4:10. However, of those two, only the start time matters. You can use a fast pass any time after the start time.

There is a 3rd time on the fast pass. It's at the bottom in small print. That is the next time you can GET a fast pass. In Disneyland (and I assume it's the same in WDW) that time is usually 2 hours from the time you picked up the fast pass OR the start time of the fast pass, which ever is earlier.

So a big thing to do in HS is get there at rope drop, run to TSM and get a fast pass, ride it (if you want) because by the time you get off, you'll probably be ready to get another fast pass. You can hold onto the TSM fast pass and run over to RnR or ToT and pick up a fast pass there. Saving them both for later in the day.

At Disneyland, I would go to SM at opening, get a FP which would be for around 30-45 minutes later, ride it, then fo ride the Matterhorn. By the time I was done, I was able to get another fast pass for SM. Which I could give to my friend who wouldn't get to the park until 11 or so. This allowed us to ride it together and by the time he got there, I was able to get another fast pass for something else and he was able to get his first.

Also, I believe the 4 parks (MK, HS, AK, Epcot) run on their own fast pass system, so you can get a fast pass in one park and get another one in another park before your time from the first park is ready. The only thing you have to keep in mind is that the park tickets you are using to get a fast pass MUST have been used at the front gate to get in. So, you can't take your family's tickets, go to the park without them, and get fast passes.

Now for a tip: Everyone has been talking about "body glide" but I can't seem to find it in the stores around me. HOWEVER, I did find that BandAid makes an anti-friction stick that works wonders - CVS was carrying it. It's kinda small and meant to be used on the feet mostly, but it works on other parts of the body very well.

Just ran across this thread. Early on someone asked where they could find Body Glide. We get it from Dick's Sporting Goods. Never used it for foot blisters but it works great for chafing on the inner thighs. After alot of walking especially after a water ride my boys would always start to chafe. I used to feel so sorry for them at the end of the day and week. No more chafing with Body Glide. This stuff is amazing.

yes you are correct. We do this alot it allows us to get other stuff done and not be on to strict of a schedule.

Just another question, The fast pass I have says like Valid between 1130-1230, so I was assuming that it expired at 1230. I mean if I can still use the fast passes all day regardless of the time that would be great . Like if it said valid between 1130-1230 I could return at say 300 with that FP thats what you guys are saying right?

Exactly :thumbsup2

Mail stuff to yourself- put a big box together of all non perishable foods and ship it down 3 days ahead. Package is waiting with bell services. Huge time and money saver.

Moleskin- way better than bandaids.

Embrace your inner tourist.

Plan, plan, plan. My friends and family used to make fun of me because I start planning my disney trips 1 year in advance. By the time we go I have spreadsheets detailing what parks we will visit each day, what attractions we will see in what order, what we plan to fast pass and what parades/fireworks we want to see. I think this is especially important at parks like DHS where it is really not as much about wait time as it is about show times. I have been doing this for years and I can usually see everything I want to see(we do go in late September so the lines are short) during the week without exhausting everyone. We still take long breaks in the afternoon and usually visit one park in the morning and a different in the evening.

Having said all this I never get upset if we decide to change some of the plans on the fly(although we usually have the most fun when we stick to the schedule). Disney is about having fun and sometimes you have to go with the flow.

Anther benifit is that I enjoy planning the trip almost as much as going on the trip. Since we visit Disney atleast once a year I am always planning a trip!

Is "my boys" a euphamism or what? :rotfl:

9 times out of 10, at least 1 person in your party wil get blisters. Pack multiple sized band-aids and Advil. I thought I was ready for Disney World when I was running 2-3 miles a day. BOY!!! Was I wrong.

Some IcyHot and Tums wouldn't be a bad idea either. If going in the warm weather, aloe lotion for the inevitable sun burn.

Band-Aid makes a product called blister block....it is a must for Disney blisters along with moisture wicking socks. The blister block is similar
to the body glide.

Awesome tips... haven't been to disney yet but hopefully I'll come back with some!!:thumbsup2

My best tip would be to make sure everyone you're with knows and understands what they're getting themselves into in regards to certain rides and attractions. My mother didn't expect the height of the first row of Soarin and had a panic attack throughout the ride, despite our family's warnings beforehand. This is especially important when you have kids in tow! :thumbsup2

I appreciate everyone's replies with such great tips. I know that others will greatly benefit from your efforts!

If you have anymore, please add them when you have time.

I have always used just an anti-perspirant/deodorant stick like "Sure"...I use it where ever I think I need it...wear ever chaffing might occur. I received this tip for "stick deodorant" here on The Disboards !:thumbsup2
