I will never go to WDW pushing a stroller! - Nov/Dec 2011 PTR, Final? Itinerary 11/18

Hi! Your trip sounds like a lot of fun. Disney with a toddler is an interesting experience. I never wanted to be the people pushing the stroller, either, but once it came down to being the people with the stroller or not going to Disney for several years, it was an easy choice.

I had something similar happen when I booked our Oct. trip. I booked with a pin code over the phone with DRC and was told there were no standard view rooms available at CBR. I called back the next morning and there were standard view rooms available. Maybe it's some sort of Disney scheme, to claim standard view rooms are unavailable with the pin discount. :rotfl:

Lucky getting a PIN code! We've never (to my knowledge) gotten one! Good job convincing your DW!:thumbsup2

I've only stayed one night at the Wilderness Lodge (Down on the DVC end), but it's an awesome hotel! You're going to love it!
Well, it is on Disney property, so yeah, I'm pretty sure I'll love it.

Yeah, I always thought the whole stroller thing looked like a pain, but an opportunity to visit Disney arose, and who am I to say no to that?
Good point about Disney blocking off standard rooms from the pin. I kind of hoped that was the case. It was only $100 more for the upgrade to Woods View for the week anyway, so it didn't bother me much. I guess that they probably counted on me having that attitude though. :rolleyes1

I'm pretty sure I've gotten them before and had no idea what it was. Some time on the DIS filled me in on the details and when this mailer came I was all over it.:rotfl2:

WL is a beautiful resort. The lobby really takes your breath away... It is huge inside there!

I think the standard views are booked to the pin code rate. I would call the crowds at that time of year moderate. You should be OK. :thumbsup2

Well, honestly, I've only been during the summer before... and 1 of those times was over the 4th of July. One positive thing is that it can't be much more crowded than what I'm used to.

"its a small world" is on Disney property, too. I'm just sayin'...
:lmao::rotfl2:

HEY! :headache:

I'll take Madison & Evan on IASW any time you don't want to be subjected to the music and the little people. ::yes::
I like some IASW... in moderation. Definitely a classic, but there's something about that song.:rolleyes1
I only ride it 1 time per trip so that I'll have time to digest the music and get it out of my head.:scared1:

Pictures? Did someone say they didn't have pictures? Here's a few just to whet your appetite for the WL...

:thumbsup2+1 THANK YOU! For all the crap I give you, you're really not such a bad guy.:rotfl2:

I can't wait to get there. I love the pool and the lobby. They just look like great places to spend some time taking in the sights. I might have to use phone pictures for the TR though, because if DW wants to take pictures of something else she tends to just erase pictures from the memory cards that she doesn't need. My need/want for a picture is insignificant.

I could grab her old 4 megapixel Canon when we go on our trip, but I think my phone is 3.2 megapixel so probably no point in dragging that old thing around.

Woohoo! I got a point! :woohoo:

And I'm not a bad guy. Just misunderstood. And covered in crap, apparently.

Rule #1: Take lots of pictures! Rule #2: First, learn rule #1. Or get a bigger memory card.

popcorn:: Made it here for the ride.

oh and Mark if you feel like posting pics on my tr for me go right ahead.

Just when I thought I was going to be sitting on a beach for a week, our good friends at Disney sent us a pin code for a 40% discount on stays at a Deluxe Resort.:woohoo:

Pin code?! Lucky guy! :worship: I've been trying for awhile to get one of those (ordering DVDs, saving reservations on-line, etc) without success. Any tricks?

I've just pretty much done what you do. If I get bored from time to time, I'll hop online and go through the reservation process just to price different resorts and see if I can work something out... so yeah, it resulted in saving quite a few reservations online. I always order the new DVD every year too. My main advice is to just look closely at the address label when you get something in the mail from them, because it might not be blatantly obvious that there is a pin code on there.

Rule #3: Buy your extra memory card before you leave for WDW!
Yeah... she'd lose it though. :rotfl2: DW is the photographer in the family. She has the camera and she's always taking the pictures. I'll get something done somehow. I'll probably be getting a new phone before our trip... any advice on the best available camera in a phone?:confused3

Well I'm late to the party - but at least I'm here on page 3, and not like page 33!! :rotfl:

Sounds great so far - and wow - Mark really came through adding in some beautiful pictures. And as others have said already - you'll love the Lodge. It is so choice! Such a great place to sit back and relax.....

Thank you Stopher, I know you've got a lot going on... I'm just glad you could stop by!

Yeah, Mark really added a touch of class to the place. It was pictures similar to those that helped me talk DW into this trip.

A Quick mini-update

Ok, I really wanted to talk a little bit about my past trips to Disney World, because I've never done a Trip Report before and this is my PTR so I can. :lmao: I'm not going to do that until I can get to my parents' house and remember to grab some pictures so I can scan them. I want to bring the 80's back for a little while. :rotfl2:

I've been reading several TR's from the December time frame lately trying to get some ideas for our trip. I've seen some very good pictures of the Osborne Lights as well as the Castle and MVMCP. I have to say that I can't wait to see everything decorated for Christmas. I've only ever been in the summer, and ever since I saw the special that was on HGTV about the work that goes into landscaping and decorating for the Christmas season, I knew I'd have to make it there to see it myself.

I think at this point we're almost definitely going to be going to MVMCP one night while we're there. I want to try to do CP also, because I know DW would absolutely love it. The question will be whether DS can handle it, but he typically does well sitting through things so we'll see. I think if we do it, we'll probably go with the dinner reservation... I know I don't want to try to get him to wait in line and then have to sit through the show.

That's all I've got for now, thanks for reading!

If you do try to do CP, I'd recommend bringing several cookies along, just in case. :rotfl: Carter always did better for us in a show if he had a bag of cookies to munch on. And maybe allow for some serious playtime between dinner and the CP, since that's a lot of sitting for a toddler.

I'm looking forward to your pictures from the 80s! :thumbsup2

Oh, we never leave home without snacks. One thing I know for sure is that we definitely have an eater.

Reply transitiioned into a mini-update:

DS has always been a bit of a picky eater and will only eat about 3 or 4 different baby/toddler foods. We've been trying to expand his taste and ability to eat different textures, so lately we've been letting him eat a mixture of his food and table food. He seems to be more willing to try new things when he sees us eat them. We were at a basketball game this weekend and he ate a whole cheeseburger... I'm not talking skinny little nothing McDonald's type cheeseburger. This was the type of burger that most older kids probably wouldn't finish. My 13 1/2 month old DEVOURED it. He is definitely my kid.:lmao:

Kind of makes me wonder though... I know Disney meals are fairly big, but we went with the regular dining plan last time and I didn't have any trouble eating everything they put in front of me. I'm thinking we might end up having to buy a few kids meals when we go to QS meals. We were planning to do a few TS meals out of pocket, so I think we'll be looking at buffets since he'd be able to eat what he wants free that way. It might make it harder to find a place to stick Le Cellier and a couple of other places I want to try into the plans though.

I am joining in the fun! I am actually about to start my own PTR, and yours is definitely going to be entertaining. My youngest brother is not much a WDW fanatic either, and must be convinced to go. Same with my stepmom actually. I just will never understand these people.

I know, it just doesn't make any sense.:confused3 Glad you found me, I'll head over and check your PTR out!
