Hi! This is our first time going on a cruise with DCL and we can't wait! Love all of the good advise on here.

We are on the Dream 2/13 cruise. I was hoping someone could tell me if there would be a problem with my husband dropping me and the kids off at the port so we could start checking in and then he could drop the car off at the rental agency and take their shuttle back? Is there a good drop off location? Do they take the luggage right there by the car? Do we all have to be present to start the process of checking in (was hoping to be dropped off about 10:00 a.m. even though I know we can't get on until later? What is the earliest we could be dropped off?

Thanks for you help! :cool2:

this is what we did for our cruise. DH dropped us off- staff tell you where to go and drop off. there immediatly were people there to take the luggage and I started the check in process while DH brought the car back and got the shuttle to the port. It was a smooth process. We were at the port early- before 11, and the kids had fun exploring while I checked in. A very smooth process!

First of all , tell DH I'll drive if I can go too. For give me, I just had to ask......As for the drop off ,that sounds good, the both of you just keep your cell phones on.... OK.
And tell DH to "top off" the gas on the rental.........and get a receipt to show the rental car company .Some rentals will charge you a sircharge [use to be $10.00] if you don't have something to show you got gas, if it is less that 75 miles travaled, which it is, [from MCO to port is 62 miles].......read the "FINE" print on the rental contract. HAPPY SAILING! :thumbsup2

We cruised the Magic twice, and both times, we pulled up to to curb, and they took our bags from us there. While my husband parked (at PC), my daughter and I entered the terminal. We were told we had to wait for him to begin our check in as they needed to take each person's pic for their Key to the World card. That said, I don't know how they will work it on the Dream since there will be so many more cruisers. Your best bet is to call Disney and ask them directly.

Last Saturday there was not a problem with doing this and we have done the same thing every cruise. DH showed up at the end and they took a picture of us together. The CM said they would take one of him seperately if he hadn't arrived in time.

Ditto....hubby always drops us off with the luggage and he goes to return the car.

Here is a pic of the general drop off area.......the same area is used at the end of the cruise to wait for the rental car shuttles....

You can see the parking garage in the background.

Is there gas station close before you drop off rental?

Thanks for the tip on the Racetrack station, MJ!!! My DH is directionally challenged when driving :-)lmao:), is it difficult to find your way out of the terminal, if he drops us off, and then to find Budget or Avis to return the rental car?

TIA!

Not done it yet myself, but the other thing I constantly read here is that DH (or whoever is parking the car) needs to have picture ID so he/she can get in the terminal.
