**Official December 2010 Thread!!** - PART 2!

I just canceled our Chef Mickey ressie for this morning. DF went to bed not feeling that hot last night. He'll probably wake up within the hour, we'll grab some breakfast at Olivia's Cafe and head to Hollywood Studios for the day.

Merry Christmas everyone! :santa:

Just back, sad to be back:sad1:, the trip went to quick for me. But it was great, we had one big rainy day our second day there (Dec 18th), but we made the most of it and still had a great time. After the rain the weather was cool and each day it warmed a bit.

Crowds were high, but only after lunch mostly, we did rope drops so we got alot in early and collected fas passes for later each day. It was our first time visiting during Christmas, we loved it and thought it was very magical. Just a lot of little special touches along the way everywhere we went.

Merry Christmas to everyone, and if you are still at Disney or about to go, lucky you, enjoy!!

We were in AK for the rainy day. We managed to get a lot done, Everest was a walk on most of the morning and not much of a wait after that, so the rain helped in that way, but I was soaked from my butt to my feet by the time we left! I'm glad you had a good time, are you doing a TR?

As of today, 7 days for us, too!
We've been counting down the days for our trip, and have been closely watching a nor'easter storm predicted to hit the day of our departure. (A snow storm resulted in the cancellation of our flight down for our last trip.) As it turns out, that was the least of our worries.

On Wednesday, just four days before our scheduled departure, we took our son to see a pediatric orthopedist because of some pain in his left hip. We thought it would be good to get it looked at before walking all over WDW. After taking x-rays, a nurse came in with a wheelchair.

The doctor then told us our son needed immediate surgery. He was admitted to the hospital Wednesday night. He had the surgery Thursday morning (yesterday). He was released from the hospital this morning.

The surgery went well. However, he will be in a wheelchair or on crutches for the next six weeks.

Nevertheless, his doctor told us that there was no reason that he can't still go to WDW. My son is dead-set on going. He has no problem with being in a wheelchair.

We thought about canceling, but the reservation is a DVC reservation on points, and the airline tickets are non-refundable. We thought about rescheduling, but nothing else seems feasible with vacation/school/work schedules.

So assuming the next two days go smoothly with my son's continued recovery, we should still be going. We'll see. :goodvibes

I don't personally celebrate, but merry Christmas to all who do! :goodvibes
at this time tomorrow i'll be back at the Pop Century after the Hoop de Doo Revue!

We had an awesome day at Hollywood Studios! The crowds weren't bad at all and we didn't even get to the park until shortly after 11am. We got back to OKW around 915 tonight. Movie ride and Muppet 3D were walk ons. We went and saw the car stunt show and also rode RnR. That was the only thing all day that we had a wait on and it wasn't even that bad, 30 minutes or so. We also saw Osbourne lights for the first time ever and were amazed at their beauty. We did everything we wanted to do. :) Sci Fi Dine n Theater was awesome! It was the first time for both of us and we agreed we would come back in May.

Tomorrow is Magic Kingdom. :santa:

I am sorting through my pictures and once they are in order I will start my TR. I do miss it, though I am glad we aren't there for the crazy crowds! We have a quickie fall trip booked for September so I have something to hold onto when the depression gets bad! :rotfl:

After saying that it was going to miss us, that snow storm is going to hit us after all. This is the first snow storm of the year, and of course it's going to hit the day we're supposed to fly. :sad2:

I don't think we've had any flight cancellations due to weather here in Connecticut since last February, the day we were scheduled to fly down on our last trip. In that case, we ended up driving down halfway to catch a flight in Norfolk. Hopefully we don't have a repeat of that.

Good luck with the snow! Hope you make it out!

Corwin, I hope that your son is recovering well and that you somehow you managed to fly out of Connecticut ahead of the blizzard.

We arrived home in the evening of Dec. 19th. I had a couple of opportunities to play with our PhotoPass pictures before today and added lots of borders. Today I think everyone who was there ahead of Christmas, like we were, was trying to access PhotoPass because I received many "error on page" messages. I think I'll just have to be patient. Maybe when some folks have to return to work I'll have more success. For the most part the various photographers got some great shots for us. I'm glad that I pre-paid for the photo CD.

Happy New Year everyone!

My condolences to all those that were scheduled to start their vacations by flying out of Logan, Greene or Manchester.

Being from Boston, all I see on the news is snow and people sleeping in terminals. You have my sympathies.

Ditto to those flying out of Newark, LaGuardia or Kennedy - all the metro NY airports were closed, and may still be closed, today.
