We just got back on the Wonder this morning as well. The phones are a great concept. You can call and txt with them. Replaces the kids club pager. Many settings on them are locked down and all it does is vibrate, no ringing. In all it is a great way to keep track of everyone. Just don't lose it as they carry a steep price!

Just wondering how the new wave phones are working(anyone who might be cruising now and online?) How did you carry it, does it fit in lanyard or just in pocket? Just thinking of my 11 year old and not wanting her to lose it. thanks for any info.
I just heard this morning from passengers leaving the cruise that the phones were hard to use. There were no instructions enclosed and when you got the text message it was hard to text back, but faster to just walk to the club. Also the price on the phones. if lost, was to much $250.00 and the wrist bands $35.00.
They should offer an insurance policy like car rental companies do where you pay a certain amount per day and aren't responsible for loss or damage.on our September cruise we had a pager and thereplacement cost was about 250$

Was thinking that maybe they should have some sort of Android/iPhone app so those with those phones could use their own device instead of DCL's, but not sure that would make sense for most as the out of contract replacement cost of nearly all of those devices exceed $250.
Is there an extra charge for the wave phones?
Is it just the connection to the outside world that's mediocre on the Magic on Wonder? I would think that a local Wifi network would be find to handle any type of inter-ship communications. People with smartphones would just have to add the ships local wifi network and perhaps download a DCL app to be able to use them onboard. This is actually a good idea, but might only work in the new ships. Since most people's phone will not work at sea, they will need to rely on the ship's wireless network. From what I have heard, the Wonder and Magic's wifi coverage is mediocre at best. But if they can do this on the new ships where hopefully their wifi coverage is better, that will be great.
