Will be going to WDW in Feb for the Princess Half Marathonprincess:princess:. I am taking my Mother, Father and my 12 y.o Daughter whose best memories of WDW are eating thier way through the world. So the dinning plan is a must, but I will be 7 months post surgery. I can occasionally finish a kids meal portion of high protein foods but usually only half and then I eat again in 2-3 hours.

I was told that I must purchase a DDP for everyone registered in the room and was going to use my credits to be able to go to Signature restaraunts and just share/order a salad or app OOP. But lately I've been wondering if we should do 3 DxDDP and I could just eat an app that is included in their meal. They are usually higher protien and fewer carbs (too filling).

What I am looking for is experiance. Are you post surgery? Or have you had success sharing meals while on the DDP? Best high protien snack options you've found?(I will be bringing in my own string cheese, yogurt ect.)

If you're all in the same room, you all have to have the dining plan for all as you were told so you can't get it for just 3.

Everyone in the room will need the same plan, but you could pay oop for appetizers and then have other people use your credits. If you andyour parents will be in separate rooms then you could get them to have the DxDP and then you and dd get the DDP or QS plan and then you all share the credits....you would need separate reservations though and not just 2 rooms on 1 reservation.

Isn't there a rule against sharing DDP credits? And if there, is would this be a "violation" of that rule?

It kind of is like inviting a non DDP guest to eat with you and using one of your credits to pay for the meal instead of that person paying OOP. I know the OP would be on the DDP but not on their parents DxDP. :confused3

I wonder if the server when he/she goes to charge the credits whether it stops them if the number of meals exceeds the number of people on the plan.

Everybody in the same room has to have the same dining plan. If your parents are in a different room then you can get them the DxDDP and you and your daughter the DDP, but only if you're in different rooms.

If you're all on a dining plan then you can definitely order only 3 meals and split the food among the 4 of you. Keep in mind though that if you're doing the DxDDP it'll be REALLY hard to use all those credits if you do this. You might want to do the math on getting everybody the basic DDP, ordering 3 meals and paying OOP for an appetizer and drink. This may give you the spread of credits you want and be cheaper than upgrading to the DxDDP.

The only time you can't split meals is if somebody at your table is not on the dining plan or at fixed price restaurants.

On the disABILITIES! board, it's been confirmed numerous times that medical inability to eat much is not an acceptable reason to exclude somebody from the dining plan when buying it for everybody else in the room. Even people who have kids who can't eat a single bite for medical reasons have been unable to have that child excluded from the dining plan.

I had GB surgery January 2009(have lost 145 lbs) and have used DDP twice since then and have had no problem. Snacks are not the easiest so I often used them for water and added protein drink to it. Table service meals I have often ordered appetizer as entree and have not had a problem doing so. DH and I often share a salad (OOP). Many places have no-sugar added desserts(Le Cellier, Kona, Wave, BW bakery's cheesecake!!!). DH and I often share a CS meal and he may use a snack credit to add alittle something if you wants or pay OOP, but really the regular DDP has worked fine. We also have found that the chef's price-fix menus that include app, entree and desserts are great (Le chefs, Le Celleir, Kona, Captain's Grille) and are 1TS on DDP. I rarely use the dessert at CS, DH will sometimes take the second back to resort for snack later(only seen sugar-free brownie which is very mediocre so I let him have his choice).

There is a rule against sharing DDP credits with people who are not on your reservation. Persons within the party (those registered on a room reservation that includes DDP) can use any credits associated with that party's reservation. You just can't use them to buy a meal for someone else. Gets complicated if you have one party with two separate room reservations and each is on a different dining plan. Technically the DxDDP group can't use its credits to buy meals for the DDP group.

You will not be excluded from the dining plan for medical reasons. Everyone registered in the room must get the same dining plan. It was also asked whether those who had such surgery could pay for a child's dining plan instead; the answer to that was "no." Anyone over age 9 must get the adult dining plan.
