**Official December 2010 Thread!!** - PART 2!

good luck finding what you need- i know someone mentioned if you have a department store like a Dillard's, Macy's Nordstrom's or something-they sometimes have a 'cruise/travel' section that carries summer type clothes even in the winter. and like you said, maybe clearance at like a walmart or target? she could also try rolling up her jeans too- i plan to do that a few days for 'capris'! :goodvibes

That sounds like us every year! Last year, we ran out of time washing clothes and packing that we figured we would buy stuff when we got down there. We bought everything from underwear to coats!

Try not to stress too much. Almost anything you need can be bought when you arrive, if you forget something or run out of time. As long as you remember the tickets and other must-have items, it will all work out!

Thanks for your replies. I'm breathing a little easier now. I ran out at lunch and found jeans for DH (he'll wear em and he'll like it!) and some stuff for DD. I did get her a pair of jeans that are on the lighter side and the legs can be rolled up. I also found a couple pairs of capri type pants, just not jeans or docker type material (again, she'll wear em and like it!). She can't be too picky with style this time of year. She's 11 - so she'll either be too hot/too cold and look good OR not in fashion :headache: Oh well. And get this, when I got back from my errands, I saw the forecast changed on weather.com. Tues and Wed are going to be chilly - no capris those days - we'll be in jeans! :rolleyes1

Anyone else sad about the reports of the lack of decorations? I went last December after hearing similar reports and I thought the decorations were great, but I'm finding it hard to be optimistic this year :sad2:

Someone please tell me it won't be that bad!!!
i have seen those reports. I know the lights of winter disappeared from Epcot last year----very disappointing, there was talk it was due to the technology not being available to upgrade it anymore, although word spread it was budget cuts too. I know last December, other than that missing, i didn't notice it being bad. I still enjoyed it, so curious what this year is like. I think I will still enjoy it regardless. People have such high expectations sometimes and if things change, it is a bummer, but unfortunately, in a down economy, even the mouse gets hit a bit (i know, hard to think about with all the money we dish out lol!)

Spent the morning getting a pedi and getting acquainted with my new camcorder!

Also on my to do list - clearing out and uploading all pictures and videos from camera/camcorder/phone so I have a clean slate when I arrive.

In exacty 3 days, I should be rolling into Epcot and dashing with fingers crossed for a FP for Soarin'!
woo hoo- another Saturday arriver like us! the next 3 days are going to be tough. i was just sitting in a meeting downstairs, very boring and so wanted to log in to the DIS on my phone (love the app), but had to sit and be good and listen to the meeting instead.

Please tell me your joking!!! :lmao:

See... See... I told you Dallas weather was BIPOLAR :lmao:
yep, last night, the weather guy showed some front coming in from the gulf of Alaska and depending on which way it swings.....we will either just get really cold on tues/Wed or possibly get snow! crazy, i know. :lmao::rotfl2: gotta love TX weather.

Please post that packing list. It will save the headache of me having to make one, :)

This will be our first trip using our DVC Locker. I'm mainly going to pack stuff that I can leave in Orlando and won't have to keep going back and forth with on each trip (ie: shampoo, towels (I'm pooh sized I need a bigger towel), other toiletry items, Christmas decorations, small 3 foot Christmas tree, unmentionables, t-shirts, shoes, (I have 3 pair of tennis shoes so I won't be missing them), corkscrew, and a whole lot more that I can't think of at the moment.

Its worth it to us because we go at least twice a year. We are going in December, May, and September. So it will help greatly. Less packing and more room for souvenirs! :) I know when we come back in May we'll definately be adding more to it because that trip we are driving.
list posted! see page 80 i think. thanks for the info on the owners locked. just not sure it is worth it for us going once a year, plus with a 3yo, his sizes/clothes are going to change each year, so we couldn't leave much for him anyhow. but i love the idea.

woo hoo- so glad you found some stuff- and you are right, they will wear it and love it- oR ELSE!!!!:thumbsup2:rotfl2::worship:

Thank you for posting that list.

We got lucky and found somewhere to get our lab boarded for our trip. Our neighbor that normally watches her will be gone for Christmas and her vet is full. We are using the Pet Hotel (that's affiliated with Petsmart). After doing some calcuations we determined it was CHEAPER to board her there (in addition to giving her 4 play date sessions) then boarding her at her vet. They shoot the rates up over the holidays (40 dollars a day.. Pet Hotel was only 31 dollars a day). I think we (or should I say SHE) got more for our money doing it through them.. :) I think we now know where we are going to board her during the holidays if we make this trip again.

I read that the Fountain of Nations was just seen dancing to the Lights of Winter music this year, even though the arches are gone.

I thought the lack of Christmas decorations was noted from early visitors to the parks, before everything got into the full swing of things? Even so, it's Disney. They will guarantee enough decorations to make it memorable!

Thank you :goodvibes - London Gatwick was closed down, but we are flying out of Heathrow - bit further West and (so far) hasn't been affected by the weather... usually we would fly from Gatwick though as that is where the Orlando flights head in & out of.. but this trip we're flying in to JFK for New York so it's Heathrow... weather is meant to 'warm up' this weekend and the snow will turn to rain, phew! :wizard: I'm full of faith, trust & pixie dust that the weather won't affect our vacation!

I know that it is December because our winter tax bill arrived in today's mail  It reminded me to go online with usps to do our hold mail request. We've got light snow here today. Disney World here we come! :cool1:

Sorry to join in so late in the game but...

I WAS JUST SURPRISED WITH A TRIP TO THE WORLD! :)
my parents first had me and my sister open a box with a Hoop-de-doo Revue pin...then we opened a box with a letter containing the details of our trip.
I WAS SO HAPPY I LITERALLY BURST INTO TEARS OF JOY.

We get there on December 25th, and stay through the 29th, at the POP. It's a short trip, but I'll be able to get my disney fix!

I'm back from the salon! I got my hair cut and colored. The Saturday before we leave I'm getting my eyebrows waxed and a manicure

I called today and sheduled my mani/pedi for 12/10, so my nails will at least be looking good when we get there! ;)

:cool1::banana::cool1::banana::cool1:

Lots of dancing going on!

Yesterday my husband and I got prequalified for the house we want to buy. We have an appointment to go to their design studio on Friday to start selecting options for our new home! It should be built by sometime in June, so that's another thing to countdown to :rotfl:

Then today I had an interview for a new job at the hospital. I currently work for that place so many of you have been mentioning, Walgreen's. It's a nice place to work for, but I've climbed the ladder as far as a can, so I may make the jump to hospital pharmacy, which pays much better. It would also be helpful with us taking on a new mortgage. ;)

Last bit of dance-worthy news: I'm one week out from my flight to MCO!!!!!!!!!!:dance3::dance3:

WOO HOO!

If I was ever embarrassed about how I looked on vacations my mom would say "when are you ever going to see these people again?" so then I didn't care so much about what I was wearing.
