Basking in the Glow of the (not so) Creepy Clown -2/11-Pictures, Final Thoughts, PTR!

It better not be 35! Fickle weather is okay, we'll pack for that...and have to take more suitcases this trip. ;)

That stinks about BLT! Erg. I haven't gotten the letter about the slide, but I assume it's on it's away, but from others that have gotten it they said we could use SAB instead if we wanted??? I think THAT would be AWESOME. It's such a close walk...we will be heading over there for sure!! (as long as the weather cooperates)

A whole breakfast would be very, very fun...what are you exact dates again? I have a Chef Mickey's breakfast planned!

Henry is all about the trains too. Today he randomly said, "Mommy, I want Mickey's train. Goes fast! Doors open!"

"The choo-choo one or the monorail?"

"The monorail, ya!"

He looked at SEVERAL times during the trip, but we resisted. It might end up under the tree this Christmas though, espeically since I have some gift card money!

It shouldn't be 35 :lmao: Ok, it shouldn't be 35 EVER @ WDW!

The letter did say you could use SAB! That would be cool! But, there may have been a change! You'll have to stay tuned on my PTR ;)

Our dates are the 9th -13th! We have dinner at Chef Mickey's on the 9th because that's DDs actual birthday! But, that's not saying we couldn't do it again! I have to take a look at what I have scheduled when!

We have the monorail! Shocking, right! You won't regret buying it ;)

BTW, I'm still praying for your family in MN! How devastating! We had a terribly wet spring and a couple of our friends lost everything in their basements, including a brand new boiler! We also had an area near here were peoples homes ended up being condemned! It was awful! I can't imagine how helpless you feel! I hope they're ok!

Just getting caught up on your report. Things move so quickly here it's hard to keep up!

So sorry to hear about the flooding in Minnesota. Sending some hugs and I'll keep your family in my thoughts:grouphug:

Woohoo for your 15 day trip! The longest trip I've ever had was 11 or 12 days I think -- really, anything over a week just seems like a long time! It really does give you time to relax a bit more and do things you would not normally get to do. I'm really looking forward to my upcoming 10 day trip:goodvibes

Sounds like you had a great day at AK! I haven't been out to Planet Watch in about 5 years -- maybe I'll have to check it out this time.

Can't wait to see if you caught Flights of Wonder and what you thought. I love this show and try to see it whenever I'm at AK.:thumbsup2

HI Brook, like you, I am spending an evening reading everyone else's reports and staying off my own. I really feel out of touch when I can't be on them regularly.

So sad about your family's homes! I read your post on FB and immediately started praying. Memories are irreplaceable, but those things associated WITH those memories are not. I hope they have all the support they need- emotional, physical, and spiritual!!

Your family is also in our thoughts and prayers! :grouphug: Some items can be replaced but memories (especially photos) are the hardest.

Hey can I ask what kind of camera Henry has?! My son LOVES having his picture taken and everything he picks up is a pretend camera to him. I thought it might be a fun Christmas gift...since I have zero other ideas!! :confused3

So sorry to hear about your family and flooding.....I will be praying for them.
And thanks so much for your help with my tr link problem:thumbsup2

Hey BE!

Great update as always! Love the AK photos. Henry looked like he was having a blast. Enjoyed the videos as well.

Hope all is going well with the MN folks. They are in my prayers.

I'm so sorry to read about the devastation of the floods in MN. Those affected are in our prayers.

Anyway, eventually it was our turn and we got those beautiful little cards...

Very beautiful little cards! :goodvibes

Pork Chop dinner with crazy amazing good potatoes

That does look amazingly good! :woohoo:

HE LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay Henry! No more baby swaps for Soarin'!!! :yay:

Gorgeous! :lovestruc

There you have it! We arrive on February 26 and depart on March 12.

15 days. Fifteen!

Yahoo for 15 days!!! :cool1: That's going to be one humdinger of a TR! :lmao:

1005225980_ugisC-M.jpg

Sound asleep.

Nothing like a sleeping child!

As you may have seen on my Facebook, or perhaps even the news, southeastern Minnesota has recently had a major flood - and unfortunately, much of my family and family friends are affected.

This actually made the news here! Definitely praying!

Hey Brook! You are so fast with your TR's!! I love all of your pictures and stories... popcorn::
Another trip is in the works! :woohoo: And for 15 days!!! :woohoo: So exciting! I don't think I will be back anytime soon so it will be fun to have your trip to look forward to.

My post got posted before I was done :confused3.... anyway, I wanted to send my sympathies to your family that had the flooding. Such a hard thing to go through! :sad2:

I agree! It should NEVER be 35 at Disney. It's still better than 35 at home, but it's still 35. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Oooooh, a change. :scratchin However, I"m not at all surprised. ;)

We had CM for March 8th - so that won't work for a breakfast. However, I'm ALWAYS up for a breakfast at Disney. Anywhere!

We have 'Ohana on the 9th (might move that one up earlier in the trip though), nothing on the 10th and hoping for Hoop Dee Doo on the 11th. I gotta get on that Hoop ADR though. Nothing on the 12th, but we don't know when our plane tickets will be either. I don't like ADRs on our last day, stresses me out too much!

I am thinking that monorail will be under the tree. We have some gift card money, plus we are earning Reward points like craZy due to plane tickets! So it just might pay for itself.

Thank you for the prayers! I'm going to to an update here at the end of replies on it all.

Just getting caught up on your report. Things move so quickly here it's hard to keep up!

This past trip was 8 days and it seemed VERY long, it was wonderful. Now we keep talking about how after we are done with that first week, we will just be getting started. Gotta love that! 10 days will be wonderfullllllll! I am thinking we might end up doing 1 long trip a year in the coming years with H in school instead of shorter multiple trips - so between 10 days and 2 weeks. It will just work better with our travel schedule the more we look at it. We'll see though, time will tell.

HI Brook, like you, I am spending an evening reading everyone else's reports and staying off my own. I really feel out of touch when I can't be on them regularly.

Me too! I miss all sorts of news in everyone's lives and Disney news. I'm still behind, but not as awful as before.

Thank you for the prayers Liesa! We truly appreciate them. News is actually better in some ways than expected, but worse in others. I'm going to post an update below.

Your family is also in our thoughts and prayers! Some items can be replaced but memories (especially photos) are the hardest.

Thank you! And that is exactly it. Thankfully my Grandma's pictures/newspaper clippings, etc from her 80+ years of life are SAFE.

Hey can I ask what kind of camera Henry has?! My son LOVES having his picture taken and everything he picks up is a pretend camera to him. I thought it might be a fun Christmas gift...since I have zero other ideas!!

Henry's camera is made by Fisher Price, I can't remember the exact name of it...but it's "kid-proof" and so far that is true! It's been dropped many, many times already and is still just fine! I think it's around $40 , it was a gift from Grandma though, so she said, "Don't look at the price tag!" so I didn't. I bet your little man would LOVE it! It's very easy to use, H knows how to turn it on and off, how to point, take the picture and review them.

So sorry to hear about your family and flooding.....I will be praying for them.
And thanks so much for your help with my tr link problem:thumbsup2

Thank you!!!

And, your welcome! :thumbsup2

Hey BE!

Great update as always! Love the AK photos. Henry looked like he was having a blast. Enjoyed the videos as well.

Hope all is going well with the MN folks. They are in my prayers.

Henry was having a ball at AK. He could have stayed petting those goats for hours and hours. He was so funny, when we were in the hotel room he didn't want to leave there, but he never wanted to leave the parks either. I'm thinkin' he's already hooked on Mickey's House. ;)

Thank you for your prayers GB!

I'm so sorry to read about the devastation of the floods in MN. Those affected are in our prayers.

Thank you Glenn!

Very beautiful little cards!

They are beautiful little cards, aren't they? I love having one!

We love the fact that we are ending the baby swap stage. H talks about going on Soarin' and Test Track a LOT too. I think by March he might be ready for Splash...!

We'll see how long that TR takes to write. Good thing no more trips are planned for 2011.

Thank you for your prayers!

Hey Brook! You are so fast with your TR's!! I love all of your pictures and stories...

I still find it a bit hard to believe that we are going for 15 days. It's going to be truly relaxing and fun! Yet, when I make the schedule, I'm still having trouble fitting in everything I want!

My post got posted before I was done .... anyway, I wanted to send my sympathies to your family that had the flooding. Such a hard thing to go through!

That has happened to me on the posts too, sometimes the DIS takes over it seems! :confused3 Thank you for your thoughts!!!

***************************************

Everyone,
Thank you so very much for your thoughts, prayers and kind words about my family and the flooding ordeal.

My Grandma's home is already being cleaned up by my Uncle and my cousin's husband. They have ripped out all the carpet and are working on the walls. There was a few feet of water on the main level and the basement was completely flooded. They think bedding and the like will be fine after it's washed, but all furniture and electronics are pretty much goners. Many of their 3 year old's toys are trashed. They also lost their pet cat. They were able to get their dogs out, but the cat wasn't found when they HAD to go (fire department knocking at the door!). This is very hard on my cousin because she is a huge animal lover.

My second cousins down the road had over 5 feet on their main floor. They lost everything on that floor. FEMA hasn't been to their house yet, but it might be a goner. Along with a close family friend, his house was a pre-fab house, and most likely will be condemned. FEMA is evaluating each property and if it's condemned, the owners have 1 hour to decide to take the money that FEMA offers or not. If they take the money, they no longer own the land. I haven't a clue if the offer is even close to what the land is worth, or if its a low ball offer. I do know that 60% of a near-by town was condemned yesterday. :sad1:

So good news is that my Grandma's home will be okay, we think. We aren't sure yet how long it will take them to fix everything up, so my cousin is kinda stuck in limbo until it's safe for her to go back.

A friend of mine from high school went to see her Mom's home yesterday - the water was to the roof and its a complete loss. She had borrowed 1 photo album from her Mom recently of her childhood pictures and that is all they have left. It's been very rough on her.

Thank you again for your prayers. Please pray for the morale of everyone. It's gonna be a lot of work, money and time.

I'm going to work on an update and hope to get it up before Henry wakes up from his nap! :goodvibes

Thank goodness that the home can be saved. I'm so sorry about the cat, I'm an animal lover too and loosing pets is never something you want to go through. I can only hope that the cat was just not found and it escaped somehow and someone is now taking care of it. I'm a very glass half full kinda gal.

Does FEMA take into consideration that these people have lost everything and they are making them choose within an HOUR??? That is despicable.:sad2:

Hurray for the brightside and an update! Will look forward to it.:goodvibes

We left off after leaving Rafiki's Planet Watch, we had two things left on the agenda for the day, the Boneyard and Flights of Wonder.

Since we arrived on property (and really, every single day for the past month or so) Henry had been asking to play in the sand. Let me tell you, give this kid a bucket and shovel - or anything that even remotely resembles it - and he's happy as a clam. The plan was to buy a bucket of popcorn, eat it and allow Henry to dig in the sand with the bucket. (If you read my PTR you will know I've never had Disney popcorn before, so this was a win-win for all things :thumbsup2)

However, we didn't want popcorn at the time, we wanted an actual meal. So we figured we'd eat lunch, then head over to the Boneyard - at least he could play in the sand even if we didn't have a bucket and shovel.

Where to eat? I told Joe I hadn't decided between Yak & Yeti Counter Service or Restaurantosaurus. He had never even heard of Restaurantosaurs, and at the mention, "It's air conditioned." he was sold. He didn't care what was on the menu!

As we walked in that direction I realized how perfectly this would work out since we were going to the Boneyard.

We made a small pit-stop along the way...

1005578294_raDJb-M.jpg

They really had a fun time doing this! Henry was running around to each drum and beating on them. Joe and I were laughing watching him, so I pulled out the video...and sure enough as soon as he saw that camera he wasn't quite as excited...but it's still a cute video.

Henry drums (57 seconds)

Dinoland! We have arrived! Now where is Restaurantosaurs again?

1005607056_gUJc4-M.jpg

Ah, yep, there it is.

1005609856_46Kv7-M.jpg

We had never really paid much attention to where it is, or what it looked like before. As all of AK, we enjoyed the theming! If you know the Dinoland backstory, this restaurant is supposed to be the student's hang out.

1005612337_82QdR-M.jpg

A few more theme pictures coming up after we eat. ;)

Inside we took a look at the menu and I suggested that Joe order while H and I grab condiments/napkins, etc. and a table. I know there is some debate on if everyone in a group should stand in line, or if it's okay for one to hold a table...but honestly, it was SO much easier with a little one if we worked it this way - and is was not busy, so I didn't feel one twinge of guilt for doing this.

A few pictures while we waited for Joe...

1005619866_7Hv5X-M.jpg

There is also a fixins bar area.

Joe arrived with the goods...and here is where the bit of pixie dust comes in...remember that Henry wanted a bucket? Well, when we figured out what we wanted to eat I noticed the kids meals come IN A SAND BUCKET and with a shovel!

:faint:

I was completely

I didn't expect this or plan it. It was just one of those little magical moments. I was thrilled. I didn't tell Henry and figured I would catch his reaction when Joe showed up with the food...I was ready with the camera...

1005622356_D4mdK-M.jpg

Well, I wasn't quite ready, a side profile, but you can still see the big grin! He was ecstatic!

Henry's choice, a hot dog kids meal - we asked for grapes, but got both fries and grapes.

1005624247_gsywv-M.jpg

1005631569_WiRe9-M.jpg

My choice - chicken nuggets and apple slices - again got fries too!

1005629934_iMEPz-M.jpg

There were more than this! Henry couldn't keep his hands off them as soon as he saw them.

Joe's choice - bacon cheeseburger and fries.

1005628166_7aGP6-M.jpg

After we ate our meals Joe said...

"Henry, we have a surprise for you."

Oh yes. A cookie to boot. It came with the kids meal! One very happy little boy. Bucket, hot dog, fruit, cookie - this was ALL good!

And you know what? The fare was basic, but good. And a happy little boy makes a happy Momma. And a happy Momma makes a happy Daddy.

This was one good meal. In case you are interested, we paid OOP and it was just shy of $30. Joe and I also had sodas, but no dessert.

It was also my first experience with Disney nuggets. Much better than I expected. :thumbsup2

For information purposes, the size of the bucket.

After the meal we took a bathroom stop and while I waited for the boys I snapped a few pictures of the surroundings, there was a ton to look at! It's a very cool place.

Free refills! :woohoo:

And with that, we were off to the Boneyard WITH a bucket and shovel!

What a great meal. Why did I think that you posted the shrimp po boy from there on the food porn thread? I think we will have to eat there too. I ate there once when it was a glorified McDonald's and it was crowded and not good.
Love the bucket!
My thoughts on standing in line...
What your husband did is perfectly acceptable. What is not acceptable is when one person stands there, others find a table and then they all come up to order separate purchases. That is like holding a line for a ride. Was it crowded?

How awesome that you got a bucket for Henry when you didn't expect it! I've never been inside of Restaurantosaurus, so would've had no idea.

And free refills. :cool2:

Marc & I always have one person order and one person find a table. Nothing wrong with that!

Love that the kids meal came with a shovel and bucket, very cute! I love little touches like that.

I'm a big fan of the Disney nuggets, though usually the kids ones are different and they don't look as good.

What a cute kids meal! We've only eaten there once (back when they had McD's fries) but I thought the theming was really fun!

Can't wait to see pics of Henry's big dig! :goodvibes

Looks so good. I am hungry right now and I wish I could just grab that food out of the screen. Another place I would like to try someday. I need more days at Disney just so I can eat more. LOL!
