Once Upon a Christmastime! A Nov. 2010 PTR! *Update 12/12, Disney Blues, pg 61! :( *

Great character list! Definitely meet Tiana and Naveen, they were awesome. We saw the penguins on our April trip in the Animation building (and I am almost positive Meeko might've been there too!) I think it all depends on the timing though but you could always try there.

The character spot is great. You can meet Minnie and then a whole bunch of others too. :thumbsup2

Great character list, Jen. I've not met most of them. Hmmm...I may have to steal your idea to end my last five days before we leave. ;)

yay that's a good list of characters!!!! Your best for finding Meeko might be AK. I know they used to have him out and about but for the life of me, I can't remember where!! Pretty bad since I worked there for like 8 months right? haha. I think the penguins come out at DHS from time to time. If you go up to any CM they can call a special # and give you a time and place of a certain character. They also keep with them a folded up "guide" of sorts that will have some character info/times on it too that they can tell you as well but the phone number that they call is super specific and will get you the time/place of any character!! :)

Really??? I didn't know you could ask CM's about characters! That's great, I will definitely have to do that! I thought Meeko was in AK, but I have never seen him! And I know the penguins are sometimes with Mary Poppins in Epcot but again, I've never seen them, I've only seen Mary Poppins alone, not even with Bert!

I can't wait to meet Tiana and Naveen, I thought of your TR when I was thinking about the characters I wanted to meet, I remembered how you and your sisters had such a great time with them!

You saw the penguins in the Animation building in DHS, where Sorcerer Mickey is? I didn't know they went there!

I am definitely doing the character spot this year, I'll probably run and grab fp's for Soarin and then get right in line for the characters!

Great character list, Jen. I've not met most of them. Hmmm...I may have to steal your idea to end my last five days before we leave. ;)

Thanks! It actually wasn't my idea, but feel free to use it! I love doing countdowns before my trip, it's keeping me busy!

So sorry about Brandon's grandmother. The disboard is a good place to try to cheer up, disney can brighten even the darkest of days.

Top 10 characters to meet, you have alot on there I haven't seen. Tiana and Naveen are wonderful, you really have to stalk them though. I think we showed up 15 minutes early and the line was cut off before they even came out. Daisy and Donald meet together at the Sorceror's Hat in DHS, top of the hour in the morning/early afternoon. Yes, character connection for Minnie and you get to see the rest of the fab 5!

I feel so special! :cloud9: And so honored! I love your list! I would love to meet Belle and the Beast together, especially in the pretty holiday wear. How I wish I was going to MVMCP! I bet you are going to see so many characters there you might not normally come across.

I really hope you work up the courage with the princesses! I'm really shy (and Miguel is even more shy than me) so I was pretty nervous about our breakfast at Akershus last time because I knew there would be lots of princess interaction, but it was so much fun talking to them! They are so in character so it's almost like you're not talking to a real person. They know just what to say to put you at ease. :goodvibes

Loved your top 10 list! It's Toy Story and more Toy Story for us. If DS4 sees Bullseye, he will be in heaven!

Going on our first family trip Nov 10-16. I think we've picked a great time!

Michal

You saw the penguins in the Animation building in DHS, where Sorcerer Mickey is? I didn't know they went there!

Yup, that's right! On both trips in April and August they've had a bunch of other characters besides the usual (Sorcerer Mickey, the Incredibles, and now Lotso). Like I said though a lot of it depends on timing but I think they change out every few minutes.

It's hard to find Tiana and Naveen? I thought they were always out, off to the side of Liberty Square in MK? That's ok, I have experience stalking characters! :rotfl:

I would LOVE to see Daisy and Donald together! :lovestruc

LOL, well, I really liked your idea and I knew I wanted to do a list of my own when I read yours! :goodvibes

It's fun going to MVMCP and seeing the characters in their holiday outfits! Minnie's was so cute last year! :) I can't wait to see the seven dwarfs, I'm so excited they are going to be there this year!

I'm kind of shy too, which is why I am always afraid of talking to the princesses, but maybe if I think of them as their actual characters, it might not be that bad! I think I just need to get one out of the way, and then I'll be fine! And luckily, Brandon is not shy, he can talk for both of us, for hours, about anything to anyone, so if I happen to be be really quiet, I'm sure he'll talk to them! :rotfl: I'm glad to know that you had a good experience with them!

Thank you!

Are you going to the Christmas party? Because I know Bullseye will be there!

You definitely picked great dates to go, November is so much fun! Great weather, low crowds, and most of the holiday decorations are up! Hope you have a great first trip! :goodvibes

Really? I didn't know they rotated characters in there, I thought it was always just Sorcerer Mickey and the Incredibles! I didn't even know Lotso was in there (I knew he was somewhere in DHS, just didn't know where!) so I'm going to have to go see him!:)

Great list! :thumbsup2 I love to meet the obscure characters. I am excited to meet characters in Christmasey clothes this year!

Wow I'm a few days behind!

First, Happy Belated Birthday!

Second, I'm so sorry to hear about Brandon's grandmother. My grandmother (on my father's side) is in her final stages of Alzheimer's. My grandfather passed away in February so she was moved to a nursing home and the disease progressed pretty quickly after everything that was familiar to her was removed. My dad went to see her last week (she lives in Florida), and he said he does not expect her to make it to the end of this year. The brain function that controls swallowing has gone, so she is on a feeding tube and losing weight, and the next thing to go will most likely be the function that controls breathing. It's sad for me because they lived in Florida since the time I was about 5 years old and I never knew them. I met them in 2002 for the first time since I was 5 and my grandmother's Alzheimer's was already pretty bad. It was really sad. I feel worse for my dad because he's an only child and it hasn't even been a year since his dad passed away. It just stinks. :guilty:

On a happier note, I LOVE your character countdown! I met Meeko in 2002 in AK at Rafiki's Planet Watch (of course, no pics!). The White Rabbit is out during MNSSHP but I don't know about MVMCP. We only went to the Christmas Party once and it was in 2006 so I don't really remember a lot of what was going on around me! I was just excited to be there! We met Marie in Toontown in 2008 but of course, Toontown is no more. I really want to meet Robin Hood but it's just not happening for me....maybe this year!

Thanks! The characters in their holidays clothes are so cute! Belle's dress is especially beautiful, as is Minnie's! I should scan our picture we took with her and put it up here, she was so cute! :lovestruc

And I'm going to pm you sometime today when I talk to Brandon and figure out what's going on the next few days in NC! :goodvibes

I'm so sorry about your grandmother. That sounds similar to what happened to Brandon's grandmother too. Alzheimer's is such a terrible disease. I feel terrible for your dad too, being an only child, that's a lot to deal with. :(

I really have to find out if Meeko is still out and about in the parks, and if so, where? I'm assuming AK will be my best bet, but I really have no idea! :confused3 There were so many Alice characters out at MVMCP last year, but I read the list of this years characters and I don't think any of them are going to be there. They've cut a lot of characters this year. That's part of the reason I want to go to the Halloween party next year! :yay:

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to do a quick update today to say I won't be around for the next few days, most likely! :confused3 I'm leaving for North Carolina early in the morning tomorrow for Brandon's grandmother's funeral and will be there until Sunday night. I'll probably be reading everyone's updates from my phone but most likely not posting, it's so annoying to try to post on my phone! :rotfl:

In other news, I was looking on Universal's website to see if they had November hours yet, and they did, finally! Then I went to the ticket section to see how much tix are, and if I order 2 tickets, online, which saves $10 per ticket, it will still come out to almost $250! :scared1: I told Brandon that and he said forget it, we don't need to do Universal! I'm sorry, but I think that's insane for ONE DAY!!! I told him we don't need to decide right now, but I think he's leaning towards not going. I wanted to go but at the same time...I'm kind of excited for another day in Disney! :cool1::rotfl: :woohoo: So we will see what happens with that, of course, I'll let you guys know what we decide, when we do!:) I just cannot believe how expensive their tickets are for ONE day in 2 parks! If we decide not to go, I'll have to do some more itinerary changes...:rolleyes1:rotfl:

 Those tickets are insane! I wouldn't blame you guys for putting that off :lmao: If I remember right, that's why we decided to cut it from the trip we were planning for January, because it was just so expensive to go to Universal, when compared to just another few dollars a person for another day at Disney. It's not on the itinerary at the moment for November, but we'll see.

I knew they were expensive, we were going to go last year and then it got cut after we decided to go to Sea World instead, but last year they were only $99 per person! Now they are $112 and after all the handling fees and taxes (not even shipping because I'd print them at home) they come to almost $250! I already have 8 day hoppers for Disney, so we might as well just do another Disney day! I feel bad because Brandon really wants to do Universal, more than I do, but we just never get to go! :confused3 It's not definitely out of the question yet, but it's looking like we're not going. I'll let him decide! :)

This is a random question, but does anyone know anything about upgrading to AP's when you get to Disney if you already have park hoppers? I have 8 day park hoppers for our trip and I'm trying REALLY hard to convince Brandon to go back next October for all the Halloween festivities (I've been looking at the pics of MNSSHP for this year, I watched the Hallowishes video that's up, I HAVE to go next year!) and I was thinking getting an AP might be a good idea, but I don't know how to do that! Anyone? :confused3

I don't blame you! Those tickets are sooo expensive! I remember when we went for their Halloween Horror Nights 2 years ago, I was able to get FL Resident tickets and they were still over $60 for just the one night and that didn't include their fast pass so we waited in lines for the houses for over an hour for a 5 miin walk-through. It was horrible. I love love love city walk but just the little bit I saw of Universal didn't interest me to go back anytime soon!

I've never done it but I know they talk about it all the time on the Podcast for Disboards. I guess it's something like you take your park tickets and they convert them to APs and you pay the difference. For some reason they say it's best to use a day but I'm not sure why :confused3 So it a way I guess you would have already paid for X amount of dollars of the AP and then whatever isn't paid with the park tickets that you've bought already would be what you paid. In a way it seems nice since they don't have a payment plan, at least you could have a certain amount already paid off if you bought a package that needs to be paid in full 45 days out.

I know Amanda..creativeamanda is doing the same thing in Dec so maybe she can add her 2 cents???

Yes, they definitely are expensive. Dh and I are getting ap's there because it worked out to be way cheaper than buying tickets seperately for 2 trips. It is hard to spend the money there especially when I know we would have fun just staying the extra days at disney. It really boils down to how badly you want to see US/IOA. Since we haven't been in over 10 years there is so much new to us to see. I am looking forward to it, just putting the money out of mind (or trying to anyway).

We plan to upgrade Dh and my tickets to APs. We don't have park hoppers, but I am pretty sure that difference doesn't matter. Everything I have read says to atleast use the ticket once to lock in current gate price, then you can do the upgrade. That way the ticket is worth possibly more than you paid for it (which definitely affects us as we bought the tickets before the august price increase). Then you upgrade at guest services in any park or even DTD (think you can even upgrade at certain resorts, but not POR). We are getting regular AP, which allows for park hopping. If you used the ticket then the expiration of the pass would be the on the first day of use in 2011. Hope this helps. Check out this thread about tickets:http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1452684. That should help you, know it helped me!

Have a safe time with all the traveling. Wish for you it was for a better reason.:flower3:

Safe travels, and hugs to you and Brandon.

I'll talk to you when I'm back in two weeks.

They are ridiculous! If I could get tix for $60, I'd go, but over $100 seems crazy to me! I really want to go for the Simpsons ride and all the crazy roller coasters, but it just doesn't seem worth it! I don't know! :confused3 :rotfl:

I never listen to the podcasts, although, it's probably because I don't know how! Maybe if I did, I'd listen!

I kept seeing that it's better to use your ticket at least one day before you upgrade, but I never understood why either! :rotfl: I guess I will have to price it out and see if it will help save money for our next trip!

I really would like to go to Universal, I haven't been there in a long time either, before IOA was even there, and my DH has never been! He really wants to go on the roller coasters, but he's the one who said we shouldn't go when I told him the price! :confused3 It's really up to him, I can take it or leave it, of course, I'm sure it will be fun if we go, but I'm happy with an extra Disney day as well!

That makes sense about using the tickets before upgrading them to AP's! I bought mine before the August increase too. I'm not sure if we will do it, but since I'm going this November and want to go back next October, it seems like it makes sense. We really should have done it when we were there in May but just didn't bother! :confused3 I will check out that thread, thanks for all the info!

And yes, I wish we were going to NC for something better too, it's going to be a rough couple of days. I really should get off the disboards and try to get to sleep since I have to be up at 4:30 to get ready to start the drive down there!
