Don't get me wrong, it was a lovely resort. But when it is described as quiet and serene, they ain't kiddin'!

It was our first moderate stay and we were extremely pleased with the room size. Very nice when you think of the size of the value rooms. We requested a top floor corner room and got the top floor. No corner room. OK, we managed no problem. No lines at the food court. Very nice.

So where is my "complaint"... we have become used to the flash and pinash of the values because we found POFQ to be almost depressigly quiet and non-Disney. (Insert flames here.) We were at Music last summer and it was alive with music, games, colour and activities! The biggest excitment we had last week was when DH got stung by a wasp.:scared1:

Would we go back? Probably not unless we were kid-less.
Would we recommend it? Probably not. I can see why people love this resort. I don't regret trying it but next time, we'll give Caribbean Beach a chance!

CBR is a fun resort with a lot going on. we were there last september and enjoyed it. we were trying to get in POFQ last year and it was booked so we ended up here. when we wanted to excitement we went to the big pool and when we wanted some down time we just relaxed at one of the smaller ones

That's too bad that you didn't like it...... I guess to each his own. That's why Disney makes all different types of resorts. My favorite is POR. I love it becuase it's quiet and the surroundings are beautiful . I don't like alot of noise when we're in our room.
I do think if you're used to the "noise" factor at the values, then all the mods are going to be different and quiet compared to that. They're just designed that way.

Different strokes for different folks - no flames here! That is what is so great about Disney, whatever kind of atmosphere you are looking for they probably have something that fits the bill. All the things you describe as negatives are reasons we LOVE  POFQ!

That being said, don't not recommend it to someone because it was peaceful and quiet. Make sure you know what kind of resort they are looking for before you make a recommedation, POFQ may be exactly the recommendation they need. :thumbsup2

I agree, POFQ has a more adult vibe. I've not stayed @ POR, but it strikes me as having a more kid directed vibe than FQ. BTW, if you liked the size of the rooms @ FQ, they are even bigger @ CBR. I did like the bunnies on the grounds @ FQ nibbling on the lawn and the boat to DTD was great.

No flames here either! I wasn't nuts about the resort either. We're a food court family and we didn't like the food court there. We liked everything else about the place, but the food court killed it for us.

It's funny you should say that about staying there kid-less, I'm thinking about a solo NYE trip and have POFQ on the short list. ;)

After the non-stop stimulation of a long park day, I love coming back the serene grounds and courtyards of POFQ.

What's funny is that it is often described as high-spirited and energetic, like Mardi Gras. BWAH!

The reason that Disney makes all sorts of different resorts is that the tastes of various people are all over the map. We love POR but really didn't like POFQ much at all. Last year, we did a tour of the various resorts (value and deluxe) and realized that were very happy with POR and didn't think that the extra savings of the values were worth it or the extra posh of the deluxes were worth the extra money. Different strokes!

No flames either.

We stayed at POFQ last year and loved it and this year we are going to try POR. It is just myself and DH so we like the quiet resort after all the fun of the parks.

I agree that if you have kids then the value resorts or one of the other mods might be a better choice.

Hope the next resort you choose turns out to be a better fit for your family.

As one who loves POR I do not usually recommend POFQ unless they like the "quiet", like my sis for her honeymoon (she loved it) ..I think its great for little kids at the Dragon pool...but for teens or older families, a no go IMHO. I happen to LOVE the boat to DTD and the ability to share POR though,
I hope you visited POR, you may have liked it more...multi pools, Quiet and Busy and just more "active", Bar with music show, etc......
Anyway, glad you experienced it, Its Disney after all....but I agree, so many to choose from, choose another if it was not a good fit!

That is so funny you put it that way! We were there 6-21 Aug. Did we like it sure. It was nice. We weren't disappointed with the resort. I loved hearing the Jazz music walking through the area. The kids loved the pool and we spent more time at the resort pool there than we have on previous trips at other resorts. I loved that it was quiet bus service was prompt. Grounds were nice. Enjoyed the boat to DTD and POR.

BUT I used those very same words , well similar during our stay about the food court. I had planned less meals at table service this trip in an effort to save on costs. I have the Tables In Wonderland card which can be used at POFQ. I thought it was ideal. Soon after we checked in one of the food service (pasta area) closed further limiting options. At one point I looked at my family and said "Please, let's just go to POP and use their food court!!! This one is killing me!" The kids were at the door and ready to go with in moments! LOL We also ventured over to Ft W to go to Trail's End figuring that we could get in with out an ADR:thumbsup2

So would I go back to POFQ again maybe but only if I wasn't planning to use the food court more than a couple times suring our trip! Maybe all the renos I hear talk about will include the food court and theri selections:dance3:!

You have a right to your observations/preferences.

At least now when there's a poll you know what resort to put on top and
the one on the bottom.

Personally, we like POFQ, it was the first resort we stayed at. We continued
to stay 2 more consecutive times since we liked it.

However, we've done a few others that we like just as well.

So keep on trying, maybe you'll find another that meets your needs/wants.

I agree with you 100%. We liked POFQ, it was very nice, we didn't have any bad experiences there, it just wasn't for us. :confused3

CBR and POR are more our style with their spacious and lush grounds, larger food courts, and larger pools. We particularly love the theming at CBR - relaxing, tropical, and fun - with a touch of Disney! :goodvibes

No flames from me. :) The reasons that you dislike POFQ are the very same reasons that we love it. Get enough flash at the parks all day and half the night, don't need it at a resort.

I'm so glad to hear it is quiet and serene!! That's what we wanted! We'll be there in 37 days! :)

This is exactly why we chose POR, lol - we want the separation from the parks! But everyone is different, so don't feel bad. What works for some doesn't work for others.

Glad to hear it's exactly what we hope it to be, hehe.

No flames here either! We stayed at POFQ and felt the exact same way. It just wasn't for us. But as others have said, the same reasons we didn't love it are the same reasons others do. :)

No flames from us. We love POR and POFQ. Have gone back there countless times since they opened in the early '90s.

The values, with their gigantic icons, remind me of a baby's crib, where you put up big, colorful, in-your-face mobiles to grab their attention. I would rather experience the simple beauty of lovely landscape, not simpleton man-made overgrown toys. But that's just me.

After the non-stop stimulation of a long park day, I love coming back the serene grounds and courtyards of POFQ.

What's funny is that it is often described as high-spirited and energetic, like Mardi Gras. BWAH!

This is me exactly. I love how peaceful it is. It's also small, so we don't have to worry about walking forever with three exhausted little kids to get back to our room.

But, I totally understand that it isn't for everyone. All of the hustle and bustle of the Values puts me on edge. :lmao:

Wondering what would you choose between either Caribean Beach or POFQ as I changed my reservation from CB to POFQ. Thanks.
