Just Back From the FW Cabins-Not So Great

Okay, first let me say that I am not normally a complainer, but if I pay to stay at a Disney Resort, I expect Disney quality service.

We stayed at the FW Cabins from Aug 22-Aug 31. Overall, I was not impressed. I did know what to expect, or at least I thought I did. The cabin we had, 2446, was in desperate need of an overhaul. When we first arrived, the bathroom sink faucet was not attached to the sink, the bathroom sink was always stopped up, the shower curtain was ripped and attached incorrectly, when the toilet flushed the kitchen sink backed up, there was a missing outlet cover in the bedroom, the refrigerator was dirty and dented on the outside, some of the kitchen cabinets were dirty and broken inside and the dishwasher was not installed correctly and looked like it had been there since they opened. Now, most of these items I could live with, but the toilet and the sink was nasty. It took 2 1/2 days for someone to fix it. The only other item that was fixed was the bathroom sink faucet. They said they would switch cabins for us, but by then we were settled. Truth be told, we didn't spend much time in the cabin, but I did expect a little better quality. It makes me wonder if all of the cabins are like that and it is just part of the woodsy theme. The one bathroom was not very convenient with 5 people, but having a full kitchen is great for us. Even the laundry room equipment was run down.

The resort itself was okay. We took the boat to MK one day, we had a car for the other parks, and rented a golf cart for one day. The resort is very big, so if you are not renting a car, you have to allow extra travel time from the campground to the parks. It was nice to have the outpost there to pick up milk and bread. The new pool slide is a lot of fun.

All in all, I would give the cabins at FW a low B-.

I will be posting a full trip report soon.

Is this the same information as in your previous 2 posts while you were still there?

I stand by what everyone said in that other thread - you sounded really unhappy (worse than your B- grade here) - I would have moved since they were offering.

Why do you keep posting about the same problems? Disney tried to help by moving you, and you thought it was too much bother. So the cabin couldn't have been that bad.

Really, you need to move on.

Sorry, this brought out the lol's BIG time! This is your third "Not impressed with the cabins" thread in one week. :rotfl2: :lmao:

Yes... we know... you didn't like the cabins... got it! Move on...

Just trying to give my opinions and findings to others now that my visit is complete. Nobody is forcing anyone to read it. Nor was was it meant to offend anyone who had positive experiences there.

I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience at the FW cabins. I wasn't aware of any other threads you posted, but if you are repeating what you've already reported, you must really have been disappointed.
I look forward to reading a complete trip report~

We've stayed in the cabins before and really enjoyed our experience and the campground. But then it was a resort only destination for us with the "camping" experience vacation in mind, not a total Disney package vacation. We would do it again as a camping trip, not sure we'd stay there if we were doing a Disney vacation per se, so that's why I'm always interested in people's experiences.

You should be getting a follow up resort survey in the mail to take online. I would for sure give Disney your honest feedback.

OP, many people sympathized and gave you sound advice in the first thread. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2540673
However, you came back and started a second thread...even after Ftw offered to switch resorts/move you. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2543169

I stand by my statement.

Don't get me wrong I'm-not-against-anybody-complaining however if the OP refuses further assistance/help by management to switch resorts, that makes the OP responsible for the outcome of the circumstances, not FtW.

But you added no new information. So there really was no purpose to this post, other than to continue to belabor the same points.

Post about a bad experience? Sure. Most people want to hear the bad and the good. Post about the same bad experience three seperate times? A bit odd.

OP- missed the other posts, so was glad this one kicked up to the top. Not sure why some people can't just skip something that is not relevant/interesting/in agreement with them....but that seems to be the way of the boards of late. :confused3 Hopefully, your next trip will have some extra magic to make up for your experience.:)

Nicely stated, very kind and diplomatic. Dittos for me :thumbsup2

I find it interesting that someone keeps posting about the same experience again and again and again. What purpose does it serve?:confused3

I had a bad experience last year at POR. I posted about it once, and then moved on. No need to continually re-post about that one bad experience.

At this point it sounds like the OP just wants to continually complain. Why?:confused3

I want to add that many of us tried to encourage the OP the first time they posted about their bad trip. It didn't sound good at all! But then you find out that Disney did try to make it right for the OP, and the OP refused the help. Makes you wonder what the motive is behind all of this posting.

Sorry again that you didn't like your resort. You missed a great cabin by just one number though. You were in 2446, and in January I was in 2447. My cabin was great - no maintenance issues and virtually brand new furnishings without any wear and tear. Everything in the bathroom worked great.

If I were you though, as unhappy as you were about this trip, I probably would pick a different resort next time. As for me, I'll return to the Fort again. Spring in FW is magical!

I don't think it's all that odd...haven't you ever had a really big disappointment in life and have been so sad or angry about it that you rehash it with family or friends? I know I've done this in my life, know LOTS of my friends do. Maybe the OP is just dealing with the disappointment this way on the Disboards with people who really know and get Disney.
OP may not have handled the situation the way others would, but we were not in that situation. It's just venting, a kind word for the OP might go a long way, just like IRL.

Maybe he is "new-ish" to the boards and doesn't understand how the posting works....perhaps he thought that now his trip is complete he should make a new thread....

We don't really know why he did things how he did.....however he wanted to share an experience with others, and unless it is truly malicious, I don't think he needs to be jumped on with so much grumpiness :confused3 Others have stated that this is the first time seeing his thread, I remember vaguely about another thread about his unhappiness....but this one caught my attention because it was a "just back" thread. I wanted to read, so I clicked.

If you don't want to hear about it anymore, you have the option to not click :thumbsup2 OP: sorry to hear that your resort experience wasn't what you'd hoped...that must have been very frustrating! :sad2: I hope if you get the chance to experience WDW again, you have a much more positive experience next time. :goodvibes

Stuff happens- toilets leak, things break- yeah its a pain but what is Disney supposed to do but move you and then fix it for the next guest??

Reminds me of a quote from The Breakfast Club...

I would send a letter to Disney, not really as a complaint but as a form of information. Disney has already said that unless people complain they think they are doing fine. Complaining to them is a necessary step. You should have changed cabins, they may have actually helped you move. I agree with you. The cabins are expensive to stay in and it should have been perfect. Somebody was not doing their job and you should not have been given the room. With that said, we all have been there if we go to Disney often. Checking into Pop...one year the door closer was broken and closed the door so hard it broke the door lock. The maintenance person could not figure out how to remove it...I ended up pulling and replacing it while he watched. Another year the room was so dirty that we actually found dirty cloths next to the bed (not under it, next to it). Another year (last Christmas) they refused to give us our room until 6pm and that was after demanding to be let in. In the last case when trying to get into our room the floor manager was so nasty that we wanted to cancel our reservations and stay someplace else. She offered to give back a very small percentage of our money. We later found hand prints on the bathroom walls printed in feces. :confused3 A letter addressed directly to the Pop/CBR head manager yielded no response from Disney what so ever but did get us to buy into DVC... So write your letter and move on. It has happened to all of us at least once, if not multiple times. I love Disney, i live Disney but in reality they are a very frugal company. They make a cut and see how many complaints they get... I remember the year they decided to stop all boat service (except Discovery Island access) on Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon because it was cheaper to use buses... That was about the nastiest letter i have ever sent to someone... I guess they got enough complaints to rethink the decision... :)

I totally get venting because of a bad situation. I've done it here myself. But putting the same exact vent on 3 seperate posts is going a bit overboard. And while it is good to vent and get things off of your chest, so to speak, it is not good to dwell on bad things. Three posts about the same exact bad situation? That is more dwelling than venting. And that is not healthy.
