I realized today I haven't finished this yet! So, with no further delays, lets continue down the Boardwalk!
Time for group shots. The yard behind the hotel is just perfect!
And despite the fact that everything was decorated for the holidays, this tree is one of the only obvious things in our photoshoots:

Ummm....This speaks for itself
I love this shot!
One cannot forget to take advantage of the Surreys (with the fringe on top).
Nice shot down the BW.
All the colors are just so beautiful!

Alright, the last few of the Boardwalk before we head to the reception!
On the stairs leading up to the hotel in back:
Inside the passage way (beautiful light in there!):
Out front somewhere (I think near that big "Boardwalk" sign):
What seems to be the favorite picture from general consensus:
Driving back around to the Beach Club, rather than walk all the way back. Our driver was making funny faces, but didn't think Nathan would be fast enough to catch him at it. Think again!

I looooooove Root's pictures! Doesn't hurt matters that the two of you are fantastically photogenic!
I'm wedding-obsessed right now...if I got my dearest wedding wish and got to have a DFTW I would most definitely try to book them.

Decorations!
The entrance to Ariel's:
The overall room:
The three guests tables had navy bengaline table cloths and silver charger plates. The center was a variety of mercury glass votives with one large vase in the middle that had palms and peacock feathers in it. I wanted a lot of height without going expensive on flowers:
Our table had champagne colored mercury glass votives of all different sizes for the center piece. I wanted something lower so it wouldn't get in the way of pictures:
We used the silver chivari chairs. Ours had small groups of orchids on the back of them:
The seating chart table was just as you came up the stairs. I made a quick seating chart using some silhouette art I made up (featuring hats). We only had four tables so I chose top hat, fedora, boater, and cloche. Each person had a small "brochure" for them and I had a variety of vintage hats out to be used for silhouettes later:
The brochures were 1930s related fun facts, quotes, and Disney cartoons that we compiled. Everyone at each table had different info, so they had to all share:
And then, there was cake. Honestly, I really should do a whole post on the process of getting to this point. It went through many designs prior to creation, and it was soooo much fun to get to see it in reality. Hmm, maybe I'll post about the DIY process of everything if I ever get to the end of these pictures. Anyway, amazing cake. We had almond cake with amaretto mousse for the top and bottom, and tropical mousse for the middle. The fancy piece in the front is actually all edible (Evan checked). They used small LED lights to shine behind the three tiers of painted sugar glass:
Oh, and this was the layout we used in the space with a few minor changes (the seating chart table moved up):

Since we had the jazz trio for the ceremony, we had enough time left over to have them for the pre-reception as well. After that, we used an Ipod set up.
Costume change!
We had the soda package and one signature drink in both non and alcoholic. I love the Adventurer's Club and really wish we could have done something there (alas, a bit too late). So, a bit of a tribute to it:
Our pre-reception "hors d'oeuvres" were coconut shrimp, bbq apple chicken flatbread, and olive flatbread (flatbreads from Jiko's menu):
For the main buffet we had a beef action station:
Spice-encrusted Cornish Game Hen from Sanaa's menu. I highly recommend a dark poultry over chicken breasts, it doesn't dry out at all:
Miso Salmon from Yak & Yeti's menu with Jasmine rice:
And a colorful little assortment of vegetables:

Hello...I'm brand new to the DISboards and came across your wedding.
So it took me a few days but I've finally finished reading your PJ and TR... and am now a huge fan of yours! You've done an amazing job!!! I'm in the midst of planning my own DFTW for 4/10/2011 at the WP/ADH/Isola west. You are one of my new planning heroes ^_^... Our wedding is 8 months away and I havent even started looking at dresses...I feel so overwhelmed and have no clue where to start...I just wanted to say "Aloha" and mahalo (thanks) for the inspiration!

Welcome and thank you! I didn't decide on my gown design until about 8 months out, and I had to make it! Oh, and I love your screen name by the way!
My favorite part! I couldn't wait to get to the reception just to see how that cake turned out! I almost didn't want to eat it. Almost.

They did. Our florist sent us tons of pictures of vases and votives to pick from.
And now I just need to find an reason to wear that gown again!

Alright, I think I'm just going to push through and do two final posts to make it through the rest of the pictures. So! We first have the awesomeness of Kathryn Flocken and her magic scissors. Seriously magic. She had a crowd all night long it was so impressive. I do silhouettes at home, but I draw them out first. She just goes at the paper with gusto and is done in what seems like seconds. Here's my niece as her first sitting:
The end result:
She makes two of each. One for the guest to take home and one goes in a small book that can be used as a guest book. Two in one!
And only the Roots can make Soy Sauce look this amazing:
For the toast we used my grandparents wedding glasses circa 1942. We have a huge set of them, but only brought two for us. We didn't want to risk the possibility of breaking that many!
Since both of the groomsmen weren't speech giving types, my bridesmaids and my aunt gave speeches. I think this was the point they were proud of themselves for setting up my elaborate proposal.
They ended with a really cheesy comment about wishing upon a star and dreams coming true, which was supposed to be funny. Then Erin started to tear up and I had no hope!
I gave my Aunt less than 24 hours notice for her speech. Which may seem last minute. But you don't know my family. I did that so there would be no props involved and no grand skits written. They've done everything from a surprise redneck wedding to a fake funeral to parades to taking my Aunt to "court" over her misadventures (with a real judge). I knew she'd manage something great on short notice!
Next came cake. Yum. Ken even showed us how and where to cut, thank goodness. You may have seen a dozen weddings, but when it comes time you have no clue!
The story of our lives. I'll let you do it so I won't screw it up. Or get stabbed.
I still want to lick the screen every time I see this.

I'll be honest, I don't know Evan's cousin's kids very well. But, this kid is adorable! The hat was at least three inches longer than his head.
Evan by this point had discovered that the whole front section of the cake was all sugar, and therefore edible (except for the LEDs of course). He proceeded to inform EVERYONE.
The lights were still my favorite part though.
Next came the first dance. I'm awfully proud of this. I choreographed an Astaire/Rogers type number to "Beyond the Sea". Which doesn't seem long until you have to choreograph it all!
Evan managed it quite well considering I only had a month to teach him (and me).
Lots of lifts:
We almost made it through without mistakes. But we both forgot about four eight counts near the end! Still fun though.
I dragged the bridesmaids out for one dance:
And Evan made extra sure to prove, for all posterity, that it is really edible.
