How I Survived 11 Days at WDW with a Disney-Resistant Husband **2/20 THE END **

So did you ever find out where your husband went when he left you at rope drop? I can't imagine being in WDW without cell phones now that we have been there with them.

I also love your living room and your new painting. How sweet of your MIL to give it to you and pay for shipping. I am sure that painting will be very special to your family for many years.

Thanks for your comments about the painting.:) You are right- my MIL was sweet to gift it and then send it to us.:goodvibes

As for where Chris went while we were in line at Toontown....I honestly can't remember what exactly he left for...washroom, drink, or just a break. :confused3 Yes it was frustrating, but I was just glad he didn't decide to go back to the BC!:rotfl:

Too funny about AG!!!! :lmao:
Sorry about Chris walking off at Toontown. Ugh.
Love the painting!

Amanda

Hey Amanda...hope you had another fantastic day today in our favourite place!:goodvibes

Thanks for the comment about the painting!:)

I agree with your amusement on the Chris-AG connection...didn't see that one coming! Up until now he always rolled his eyes at the amount of AG stuff I would cart home from my trips to the States.

Wouldn't it be nice if the Speedway had FP?;)

As for the cell phones...because we are from Canada, the cost of using our phones is prohibitively expensive. In 2007, we used our phones during our trip for about 5-10 minutes each. When we got home, we had a $250 cell phone bill that month for US roaming charges!:scared1:

While there are packages you can purchase for discounted US roaming charges, I only purchased one for me as I knew I would have to be calling work. Yes, I know...cheap-o me didn't get one for Chris so we could have used our phones to call each other in the Parks.

However...we are totally prepared for the next trip as Chris recently bought the family some pretty high-tech (and expensive) long range walkie-talkies. So we will be packing those next time!;)

And thanks for your comments on the painting!:goodvibes

yikes! That totally makes sense. You could also buy the prepaid cheapo ones here just for use on the trip but oh I get stressed out when separated and can't track people down. Then again, you can have all the phones you want but if the teens don't keep them charged and with them, well, all bets are off.

Can't believe September is almost here!!!!

Is it just me, or is anyone else shocked that this will be our last weekend before September hits. I know many of you have already started back to school, but our kids never start back until September. Meaning NEXT WEEK!!! Yikes!!!:scared1:

I was complaining to Chris last nite that there are so many little projects I wanted to accomplish before the kids went back to school that sadly, likely won't get done. One of those was making up a couple batches of homemade stew and spaghetti sauce.

So I walk in the door tonite after work and step into a kitchen full of delicious batches of homemade spaghetti sauce and homemade stew being divied up into containers to be frozen for quick and easy weeknite suppers for weeks to come. Chris was off work today, and spent a good part of it slaving over a hot stove to wipe this little project off my list.:goodvibes

Not only was I able to enjoy a nice hearty bowl of homemade stew for supper, I also feel a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders now that our freezer is getting replenished again for the back-to-school season.:)

There is no question Chris isn't a model Disney vacationer. Far from it.:rotfl: But this and a million other things he does in our "regular" lives more than make up for it!;)

That was SO awesome of Chris! Mike does these things for me too occasionally, then he can't understand why I stand in the kitchen and cry . His thoughtfulness sometimes does that to me!

I was reminded that September is almost here and summer is almost gone the other night when we had to lower the windows -- not to turn the AC on but because it was cool out! Summer always seems to go by too fast :(

Ok Trish, our husbands similarities don't extend that far - he will help me with the cooking from time to time, and he does his fair share of dishes and vacumning, but I don't ever see him spending all day cooking and canning for me!

:worship:

She has actually always had an interest in art, and used to draw/paint to a limited degree when her kids were first born. But having 4 kids, and a very busy life, she put it aside for years, and has just seriously taken it back up in the last number of years since her husband passed away.

She is really getting a lot of enjoyment out of the classes, and loves experimenting with new mediums, such as the canvas painting she recently did, and then gifted to us.

Chris and I are very happy we called "dibs" on it before any of her other 3 kids could stake a claim to it.:rotfl:

That is so fantastic that she's getting back into it!!! How great to "re-discover" a passion and talent.

Soooooo sweet!!!! :goodvibes

Your house is absoutely beautiful, it looks like something out of better homes and gardens, you should post more of just the home :lmao:

BTW, I was lucky to get a Disney loving hubby but he is resistant to many of my other favorite things so I completely relate, but when it comes to his baby girl, well lets just say he can update me on whats going on on; wizards of waverly place, hannah montana and suite life whenever I may need to catch up ;)

What a sweet thing for Chris to do for you!:) I'm always envious of any woman whose husband likes to cook!;) My husband doesn't get any where close to the kitchen if at all possible. It is so sad that summer is almost over:sad2: This time of year always harkens back the memories of when my sisters and I were children and we knew our late night outdoor playing was coming to close because the nights were getting shorter and cooling down which meant school was right around the corner.:sad1:

Why don't you ladies leave Disney resistant husbands home????????????? You would be happier and so would he???????????? Just because u r married doesn't mean u r joined at the hip????? I don't understand this.:sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2:

That is a beautiful painting from your MIL - I've always been jealous of people with talent like that - I can barely draw a stick figure. :rotfl: And your lving room is lovely, very relaxing.

I'm glad Chris just wandered off for a moment and didn't leave. Hopefully with just the four of you, you had a great rest of day.

It was a great surprise for sure! But overall not too surprising. Chris takes care of about 75% of the household chores and cooking in our house on a regular basis! :)

Katies handmade outfits are too cute where did you get them?:flower3:

All of them were purchased on eBay, although many of the sellers are also on etsy.;) If you want any more specifics about a specific outfit let me know.

I was reminded that September is almost here and summer is almost gone the other night when we had to lower the windows -- not to turn the AC on but because it was cool out! Summer always seems to go by too fast :(

Fall definitely creeps up on us, doesn't it?

Honestly....I think I would be hard-pressed to find a husband who contributes more around the house than Chris. He has got the market on that!

As much as I love Summer, Fall is definitely my favourite season. I actually love it from September right on through until New Years!:goodvibes

It is the January - April period that I could do without. Cold, snow and rain - blah!!!!

He *has* been left home. And will continue to be left home in the future!:rotfl:

In the 2 1/2 years leading up to our May 2010 trip, I went to WDW 5 times, and DL once, for a total of 6 trips. Chris only came ONCE!!!;)

We are hardly "joined at the hip". Far, far from it. In fact, our problem is that we hardly see each other. He travels constantly for his job as an airline pilot, and is typically only home 12-15 days a month.

As I mentioned at the start of the TR, I really hoped that his first time ever staying on Disney Property during this trip, and living the "true" Disney experience was going to win him over. It didn't. So now I know.

If and when he comes in future, I don't plan to repeat past mistakes. He will be left poolside by day when the kids and I hit the parks. And I fully expect that there will be many future trips to WDW where he decides to stay home. Which is not ideal. I would rather we share these experiences. But I have finally learned that not everyone can or will share the passion that keeps most of us wanting to return.:)

Thank you! :goodvibes Yes, overall we did have a great morning at the MK...more on that soon!;)

Wow, wanna send Chris to Florida for a few days to stock my freezer? :rotfl: Definitely a great quality there. :goodvibes

:rotfl:

Caught up this morning! :yay:

Your DH seems like a great guy (despite not getting Disney ;))! It is sweet to see how he gets excited for some other things--AG, and how he is willing to take some pressure from you!!

Ohh okay I'll have to look and see if they have any little boy outfits :) Ohh another question who did you rent the stroller from? I'm looking into renting one for our upcoming trip Thank you!:flower3:

Hey Stephanie...how are things with you? You are getting awfully close to your trip! Sadly, I have not been able to keep up with everyone's TRs and PTRs as long as I want to keep updating my own report on a fairly regular basis. So once I finish this, I will have a lot of catching up to do!

Many people endorse Orlando Stroller Rentals. I have used them, but *much* prefer Baby's Own. They both have excellent customer service, but Baby's Own rates are cheaper, and their strollers are nicer.

That said, OSR's *finally* got updated double joggers this year. Finally!!! I haven't tried those ones out yet but they look nice. Baby's Own rates are still cheaper though!;)

I cannot believe the summer is ending also. It went by so fast. I was putting gas in my car this morning after dropping my son of at school and I noticed the car next to me had the family sticker with the Mickey hats on. I was thinking, It is hot outside; I am driving a lot today with work, and it's a new school year. I said to myself that I sure wish I was at the World right now. For a few minutes, I had the blues.

It has been so hectic lately with work and the kids. Last Saturday, DW and I did a date night(dinner and a movie). We needed to get out to spend timem relax and have fun. I did the same thing last Monday about cooking several meals and freezing them, so it is quicker when we all get in at the end of the day. I often help her do dishes, towels, vaccuum and more. I am the cook of the household. It's good that Chris helps you and makes up for not being quite the Dis-vacationer like us all. You now got me graving stew and spaghetti. Enjoy some Louisiana hot sauce on them, it's good. :thumbsup2

Ya I wanted to rent just to use the baby jogger :lmao: I want to get one!! I looked up baby's own but can't find it :confused3
