The 2010 North Carolina Members Thread

I think the places to rent at Topsail are nice and most are newer. Carolina and Kure beach are closer to Wilmington. So you would have more to do if you want time away from the beach ie Fort Fisher, aquarium, restaurants, and shopping.
Thanks for the info. We did find a great house online at Topsail but as you said, it was too far from everything. We finally decided on a great cottage in Emerald Isle for next summer...then the search begins again!

Couple of Cornhuskers here living in Fuquay Varina outside of Raleigh. Been DVC since '93! DD, SIL, 2 GSons at Camp LeJeune. SIL in route home from Afghanistan!!
Thanks for joining us! And thank SIL for his service and DD for her sacrifice!!!

We are loving this thread!!!... Keep it coming.
We live in south east Charlotte, a stone’s throw from Matthews. DH’s Dad grew up in the Wilson/Greenville area and his Mom grew up in Kinston. We too miss the BBQ there (YUM).
We joined “The Club” in January 2008 and own at Kidani Village and Old Key West. We LOVE the Villas at The Wilderness Lodge.
We also vacation at Emerald Isle and as a matter of fact we are heading there tomorrow staying at Sound of the Seas Condos with lots of family. We do miss Disney though.
We would love to have a DVC party someday to meet some kindred spirits here in our area.
Visit us on the Web (link below).
Enjoy you beach trip! Thanks for joining us.

I love your quote - "Disney; For those who get it, no explanation is necessary. For those who don't, no explanation will do."

I think we have all lived that!

:wave2: Hi all. We live southeast of Charlotte, in Union County. 555 miles from WDW!

Howdy neighbor. We are also in south Charlotte area. Union County, but really only about 2 miles from the Charlotte Meck line. Our address is Waxhaw, but really we are near the Blakeney area of Charlotte, hardly the downtown Waxhaw most people think about. We are in a community called Hunter Oaks. Just look for my license plate, "LIVRGIVR." Honk and waive.:wave2:

Yea... no matter what I do I can't get people to understand why we like Disney so much. They just don't get it.

We are at Emerald Isle now. The water is great and the sun is hot and the family is all here. 14 of us in all.

That is too funny! We have friends in Hunter Oaks and I think I saw your plate just the other day!
We are at McKey and Weddington Road in the Willowmere neighborhood.

Live in Cary. DW grew up in Apex and I was born in Raleigh, spent first 10 years in Wilmington and next 10 in Greenville. Graduated from Rose H.S. and went to ECU and NC State (BS and MS).

Both of those places can't be beat around Wilmington. I love the surfer dog at the Trolly Stop and the relish at Paul's Place.

Paul's Place!!! Man, that brings back memories. I spent my summers growing up working on my Grandparent's tobacco farm in Burgaw and ate at Paul's Place all the time (the old one on 117).

Hi Jitzy! Wilson is known for it's 'Cue with Parker's and Bill's being the favorites.

My favorite Q place is B's in Greenville. Love their flat cornbread. Second favorite is McCalls in Clayton and Goldsboro.

I first ate at the old Paul's on 117 when I was a freshman in high school. I remember sitting at the counter with a buddy when suddenly a small lizard scooted across the counter. Now that is great ambiance!

I love B's! The Skylight Inn in Ayden is one of my favorites. A buddy of mine and I always argue when we are in Goldsboro. He wants McCall's, I want Wilber's and neither wants to give!

Lost in Neverland, your family is WAY out west... what is really funny is that my in-laws live in Charlotte, we have a place at Lake Chatuge and when we are not at Disney or the lake for vacation,we are at usually Emerald Isle:woohoo:

Forgot to mention earlier that we own at AKV.

Weird. I also lived on Lake Chatuge. I graduated from Hayesville High then moved to Greenville, NC to attend ECU. Now I live close to Boone.

I own at OKW, AKV, and SSR

I know that area well, we live VERY close to you. :) I may have even seen your license plate before!

We live even closer to you! Just down the road actually... :)

Enjoy Emerald Isle! Our neighbors went there for the first time recently, rented a house, and they fell in love with it! They plan to go back next year. We've never been there...maybe next year.

We also are NC DVC members. Our family (Me/43, DW 39, DS 7) lives in Wilmington. Right by the coast. We Are DVC members at SSR.
We too are SSR DVC memebers and live in Wilm! It's me-44, DH-44,DS-9! Of course, we've only stayed at SSR once!:) We like to stay at the Boardwalk BC and AKV.

Hi Jitzy! Wilson is known for it's 'Cue with Parker's and Bill's being the favorites. My father-in-law has to have Parker's eveytime he visits. I personally prefer Wilbur's in Goldsboro. It is cooked over oak.

Where do you live in Florida?
I grew up in Smithfield and we used to eat at Parker's all the time! Yummy! The other day I was talking about how I needed to go there. I haven't been in a long time! We never went to Bill's. Wilbur's is good too. Jackson's here in Wilmington is good too!

Both of those places can't be beat around Wilmington. I love the surfer dog at the Trolly Stop and the relish at Paul's Place.
:thumbsup2

Having worked at Parkers for 7 years throughout high school and college (waited tables and cooked), I have to agree, and most of my friends consider me one of the local BBQ experts; even in Wilson.

B's is hard to beat. Got to be in my top 3, if not number 1. Great ambience too. :rotfl2:
