Disney Dream Doesn't Have Solid Whitewall Verandahs?!?

According to this pic, it looks like the Disney Dream won't have any solid whitewall verandahs!! If they are, then they wouldn't be putting railings on the edge!! =D

From the way it looks on the DCL website I think they did get rid of the solid walls. The video os the starboard side is hard to make conclusions form but the way they have the categories set up the ones at the back are in the same categories as the ones on the sides. all this combined makes me feel as there are no solid wall verandahs.

Personally, it still looks like there are metal walled verandahs to me, though it does appear that they may be lower than they are on the current ships. What looks like the top of the metal wall part is at the same level as the bottom of the porthole in the nearby rooms. Unless DCL has stretched the portholes to the floor of those cabins, then there is still 2 feet or so of wall below the porthole, which means that the metal verandah would be at least a few feet high as well.

I concur... I don't think they have been painted yet so it looks like they aren't there.... I believe that the only plexiglass balconies are on the sides of the ship...

Look more closely at the photo. The first row of portholes at the bottom. If you look closely you can see that there is a rail going all the way across about 1/3 the way up the porthole. that is where you can get your visual height from. As you look up to the stateroom areas you can see that the port holes are the same size. as you look towards the aft of the ship.... You can see that the solid parts go up only to the height of the bottom of the portholes..... there fore what will be above that?????? Thats right half of a regular verandahs railing.... so it wont be a full plexiglass verandah but it doesn't appear to be a full solid verandah.

We can all hope and dream for plexiglass verandahs... and most will have them it just depends on the category you book.

I totally get that but it would not be the first time the DCL website has been wrong. They might have changed after posting on the site. They could be saying it is a whitewall due to the two feet at the bottom. We won't know for sure until January. But it would appear to be half solid wall and half railing.

Might be… I see that the solid wall goes up to the bottom of the porthole, but the veranda's wall on the side, is a bit lower… I also think that the railings of the staterooms that are supposed to be solid whitewalls, are a bit higher

Talked to DCL a coulple months ago about an upgrade, and she specifically asked me if I had wanted a SOLID WALL or plexiglass, so unless the persons I talked to have it wrong as well... There will be solid walls.

well when my mom reserved the cruise, they too said that we'd be having solid walls, but I guess they were basing it on the older ships… maybe this one won't have solid walls...

All those portholes in the primer red, those look like the porthole in the solid wall verandas. That's why those rooms are lower category than the other veranda rooms.

This would be a nice bonus, since we have a 6B reserved for next june (and have been assigned a room on the starboard side). On the other hand, a 5E for our cruise is currently about $500 pp more, so I'm okay with the 6B either way.

When we booked our 6B stateroom on deck 6 at the very aft of the Dream while onboard the Wonder, the booking agent informed us that we would have a solid wall verandah.
I had viewed the OP's posted photo elsewhere and also wondered about the appearance of a very low solid wall with the railing above. The location of the portholes on the side on deck 6 are Category 8 staterooms and there are 4 6B on the side between the port holes and the back of the ship that are also supposed to have "solid wall verandas" but what I see are only low solid areas and it appears that there will be a railing there also. I am wondering if there may have been a design adjustment that facilitated this change since the info being presented is obviously different from what we are seeing. It will be a nice surprise if instead of a full solid wall, we get a low solid wall and a plexiglass railing.
I know the far aft staterooms are where we will be sailing from now on whenever we want a stateroom with a verandah, as I tend to get motion sick watching things go sideways, but going forward or away does not bother me, so these far aft rooms were a major plus for me.

Beginning January 2011, all metal walled verandahs on all three ships will be Cat 6. While it appears there may be hope that the verandah wall isn't quite as high as it is today, I don't see any way you're going to get out of having a metal wall verandah of some sort if you've booked a Cat 6 (unless you get upgraded, of course.)

Wait, are you talking about the Dream? That you cannot get out of it in any way??

Because, this picture SHOWS that there will be plexiglass railings instead of solid white walls. I have category 6A stateroom # 8188 and it's at the middle of the very back of the ship. If this was on the Wonder, it WOULD be a solid white wall, but on the Dream, based on this picture, the other 6A category staterooms have those plexiglass railings. 6A category stateroom start right after those Navigator's Verandahs (those circular holes that they call verandahs).
