Pink Pajamas, Penguins on the Bottom PTR, August 2010 with pics!

One of the tips I learned through doing ridemax... if you go at opening to MK and head straight through the castle you basically get fantasy land to yourself and get on and off all those rides with little to no wait. Shhh don't tell though, it is a secret. Reason... shortly after opening, they close off the castle to set up for the Dream show (my mind is going tonight...it is the one done right in front of the castle) Anyway, this requires then that everyone venturing to fantasyland go around through frontierland or tomorrowland. Most people then stop to do things in those areas. Course, this takes you out of the path for doing spacemountain and those other larger rides before the park fills up. I just know the first time we did Dumbo without ridemax...we were in line for 2hrs. I don't think we have waited more than 5 or 10 since using it. As you can tell, I am a big fan.

Wow that's pretty cool. Maybe I can go line up for Dumbo while DH FP's Space Mtn! We always head to Tommorowland first, because it's just tradition. But that sounds so nice to be able to have Fantasyland to yourself!!

I'm sorry I haven't been around for a few days. Been super busy with work. I will definitely be posting some updates, answering replies and catching up on other TRs and PTRs this evening! Hope everyone has been having a good week so far!

Hey, I found a bag similar to yours. I did not see the print you have when I was there. I was in a different Target yesterday and I did not see the print of the one I did get...so I guess it just seems to vary by store. I noticed they had ones made from the same type of fabric, but different styles. I like this one best since it has more pockets.

Thanks for inspiring me to go to check out Target. :goodvibes

I'm glad you were able to find a bag you liked and that would work for you. I picked the print I did for mine since it was so similiar to the bag I had before. Yours is super cute though. I don't remember seeing it when I was there but I bought mine back in February.

Yay for AJ passing and moving on with her sis! It must be hard if they were ever separated from the same grade. It's good to know she is doing better and hopefully she will be happier and doing better in 7th grade!

Now for Day 3 Plans:

AK – 9am – 8pm (EMH 5pm – 8pm)

Today will be our AK day. This will be only my 3rd time visiting AK. The girls and DFi (Fiance) love animals and are sure to love this park. I plan for us to get there right when the park opens which means probably leaving POP at around 8am. We will be either eating breakfast in our room or grabbing a snack from POP. Our first goal at AK will be to get fastpasses for Kilimanjaro Safaris. I have never had the chance to ride this attraction and am very excited to try it. We will definitely be checking out some of the animal trails. I remember them very fondly from my last trip and can't wait to share them with the rest of my family. We will ride a few more rides from our must do list below. Then we will make a stop for lunch at either Flame Tree Barbecue or we may do Mickey's Picnic in the Park. I haven't really decided on this yet. Mostly it depends on whether or not Picnic in the Park is still going on or not. We check out a few more attractions. We will leave around 7:30 or 7:45 to make our 8:20pm ADR at Boma. After dinner, we will probably wander around the AK Resort to check it out since none of us have ever visited it before. After that we will make our way back to POP. We may spend some time at the pool if it's still early. Then off to bed for our first day at DHS.

Must Do AK Attractions:

Kilimanjaro Safaris
Finding Nemo: the Musical
Dinosaur
It's Tough to Be a Bug
TriceraTop Spin
Expedition Everest
Festival of the Lion King
Conservation Station - Rafiki's Planet Watch
Affection Section - Rafiki's Planet Watch
Flights of Wonder
Maharajah Jungle Trek
Pangani Forest Exploration Trail

I may post a new update over the next few days but I will have to see how things go at work first. Hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend! :goodvibes

Sounds like a great itinerary and action-packed first day at AK!! AK is actually the least-explored park for us. We have never really done that many things at AK only because we tend to spend more time at DHS and Epcot. But I do love the safari, and want to check out Nemo and the Lion King as well this trip. DH loves EE, but I am a bit chicken on that ride. I dunno, I think it's because I have only ridden it once, and don't remember what to expect, as opposed to RnRC which I love and ride over and over. LOL.:rotfl:
I've only ridden EE once, too, and I also don't remember much about it. I only rode RnRC once but I remember a lot about it. I could definitely rind it over and over. I am also a huge fan of ToT.

Thanks for this tip. :thumbsup2 I may have to try that out.

I wasn't planning on posting this as my update. I was going to post Day 4 plans which will our 1st day at Epcot, not DHS. DHS is Day 5. I made the mistake of saying in the Day 3 plans that our Day 4 plans were at DHS. But then I had to make a change to our Dining Plan Itinerary after the girls saw a TR that included pics of Chefs de France and Remy from "Ratatouille". They were determined that I should cancel the Le Cellier ADR and book Chefs instead. They seemed very excited and enthused so I decided to see if I could make the change. However, last night when I tried to get a Chefs ADR, the system showed no ADRs available for any Epcot Restaurant. So I gave up. The kids accepted it and decided they really want to try the "Chocolate Moose" so it wasn't that bad. In the meantime I thought about it more and decided if I could get a Chefs ADR for our 2nd Epcot day then I would just cancel my Kona dinner. It's not such a big deal since I have a Kona breakfast ADR booked for our last day. So I checked the ADR system just now and things are back to normal. I was able to get a Chefs dinner ADR for 8:40pm on our 2nd Epcot day and keep the Le Cellier lunch ADR for the 1st Epcot day. So the girls can have both the "Chocolate Moose" and see Remy. :cool1: Plus the late ADR time for Chefs works for us since I am planning to take the girls to the GF tea room. However, I still need to reserve it so wish we luck in getting an ADR for that.

The Itinerary is not as I had originally posted my ADRs but it gives you an idea of our daily plans. I formatted it this way on my previous trip and it worked out quite well.

Now a little background on the title: One of our favorite movies growing up (my mom’s, mine and my little brother’s) was “The Lion King”. So one time when I went to visit my family after moving out, we all sat down to watch “The Lion King”. So in the very beginning when the music is playing and there is chanting, my mom and brother start singing something along with the chanting. I asked them if they knew the words and they said no, but they’d made up their own “Pink Pajamas, Penguins on the Bottom” and sure enough it fit with the chanting, so every time I see that movie I sing those words and even passed it along to my girls. It seemed the perfect title for a PTR dedicated to my mom and all the wonderful memories (WDW and non-WDW) that I had with her and have of her. I can’t wait to share WDW with my girls for the first time to them and my fiancé (also their dad) like my mom shared with me. I love you always and forever, Mom!

is that a true story? the reason im asking is because i went on a disney cruise a few years ago and the comedian said the same thing... he talked about never knowing what the lyrics said so he made them say:
PENNSYLVANIAAAAAA
pink pajamas, penguins on the bottom...

i dont mean to be rude so dont think that im just wondering how you both thought of the same exact thing...

Yes it's completely true. Now my brother could've heard it elsewhere. He was very young at the time. I didn't live with them at that time so I'm not completely sure of the origin. I just remember him saying that's what they came up with. I don't really talk to him a lot so I can't really ask him. However, regardless of the origin, it is something that reminds me of my mom and it's a happy memory since it was a silly family moment.

I just googled the "Pink Pajamas, Penguins on the Bottom" lyrics and found a lot of hits. I actually had no idea this was so big. I also wasn't aware of the comedian who is known for it. It was just something cute and silly that reminded me of my brother and mom. I apologize for not realizing this sooner.

We ate there in February, hoping to see Remy. It is my understanding it is hit or miss as to if he will be there or not. We unfortunately did not see him. I hope you will get the chance, but..in the event that it is not a sure thing, I wanted to give you a heads up.

Whatever the origin of the phrase, I think your PTR title is super cute! ;) You shouldn't apologize!

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that it was a random thing. I also didn't mention that the girls are also very excited to try French food since they never have before. So Remy being there would be a bonus to that.

Thanks for that. :goodvibes I am definitely keeping the title. Regardless of the origin, it was a silly moment with my mom and brother so it is special to both me and my family.

Have'nt been on in a while so I'm catching up a bit. Your itenerary looks great. We have some similar restaurants: Cape May Cafe, Boma, 50's PTC, and Le Cellier. I wanted to try Chefs De France but was outvoted. The only one of those I have ever tried was Cape May and I loved it. Excited about trying the others.

I love the pics of your bags, as well as the bags for your girls. I am thinking about setting up something for my boys, little gifts for when we get there maybe with a fanny bag or something for them to carry. When I went on the Disney Store website to check out the cooler bag Annmarieda posted I found a customizable messenger bag on sale and ordered it. Just came in the other day and I love it. So now, thankfully, that is one less thing I have to worry about.

Your PTR is great so far, can't wait to read more.

Don't apologize!! I honestly think it's a bit silly for someone to feel the need to call you out on it, but that's another story!
I just read the whole PTR and just wanted to advise you-- I know you said you were looking forward to going to Ariel's Grotto, but it's actually closed already due to the Fantasyland expansion :headache:. Just wanted to let you know so your girls weren't disappointed!
We'll be there at the same time-- maybe we'll bump into each other!

I just wanted to post this info since I am super excited. As of today, we are PAID IN FULL! WOOHOO!  :cool1: Can't wait til I get my Mickey Mail!

Within the next few days, I will post an update and respond to replies. I would do it now but am super exhausted from work. :surfweb:
