Hello everyone! Welcome to my first trip report! :yay: I'm new at this, but I hope you'll read along and join in the conversation!

I discovered these boards about a year ago, but have been to Disney nearly 20 times in my life. My first trip was at age 4, when my mom married my step-dad at the Grand Floridian! We've been hooked ever since.

This trip was different for a bunch of reasons.

1. It was my first DVC trip! I became a member this year and used the free points from 2009 to take this trip. My home resort is Bay Lake Tower.

2. It was my first time to Disney with my boyfriend, Vinnie. We've been together almost three years, and I have been waiting for us to go to WDW together for what seems like so long! I've been a few times with my family since we've been together, but for one reason or another he was never able to come along. I was so excited to experience the trip with him, especially because he hadn't been to Disney in over 15 years. And as we know...much has changed since then!

3. This trip was planned on VERY short notice. Vinnie and I were originally planning on visiting in September, but over Memorial Day weekend the thought popped into my head that maybe we should move the trip up. We are both in the process of looking for new jobs, and I was worried that if we get new jobs within the next few months, taking time off right away wouldn't be possible. So, I called DVC to see if we could rearrange some things, and we could!

So, the details:

Travel dates: Thursday, June 10th - Monday, June 14th. According the the local Orlando news station, it was the WARMEST weather they had seen all year so far.

Resort: The Boardwalk Villas (2 nights garden view, 2 nights boardwalk view!)

The cast:

Me, Allie. Planner extraordinaire and the author of this TR.

Let's get started!

DAY #1, 6.10.10

This day began very early. Our flight left Albany at 6 a.m., so we were up nice early. Our plan was to get to the airport around 4:30, just to be safe, and because Vinnie was a bit nervous about flying. Vinnie and I met Kiki and Tim at my parents house. My step-dad Pete would be driving us to the airport. We arrived at the airport ahead of schedule, and went right to the check in line at Southwest. There were about three people in front of us in line. As I began shuffling through my carry-on bag for my confirmation email and license, I started to panic. My wallet was nowhere in sight. How could I NOT have my wallet?! It had all of my credit cards, some cash, my ID, etc. I told the already-nervous Vinnie, and he suggested we get out of line and look through my bag and suitcase. I was positive that I had it, so I told Kiki and Tim to stay and in line and we would join them soon.

I took everything out of my bag -- magazines, iPOD, extra clothes and my bathing suit -- everything was there EXCEPT for my wallet! I opened my suitcase. Nothing.

I was officially freaking out. Kiki and Tim came over to us, and Kiki decided to call Pete and have him turn around, just in case it somehow fell out in the car. I called my roommate back at my apartment, to have her check my room and see if I had left it there. I felt so bad calling her at 4:30 in the morning, but I had no idea what to do! She searched my room and the apartment and it was not there.

There was one more possibility. My car. It could be in my car. My car was parked at my parents house, 20 minutes from the airport. I called my mom and woke her up and asked her to go out and check in my trunk, where my bag was on the car ride over that morning.

It must have been my lucky day, because it was there! Thank God! Now I just needed to figure out a way to get it to the airport. There was no way that my mom was going to bring it, so I called my Poppy. He woke up in a daze, but ran right over to my parents house to get it from my mom (luckily they live about five minutes away). We called Pete and he turned back around, again, and headed home.

Phew. That was close!

Kiki and Tim went through security, Vinnie stayed with our luggage, and I went outside to wait for Poppy. Around 5:15, my Poppy pulled up. I thanked him profusely, but he just told me to RUN! Luckily there was no line at the Southwest desk, security was a breeze, and by 5:30 we were at the gate and waiting. I could not believe the amount of stress that had occurred in just that past hour. I certainly hoped it wasn't a sign of what was to come for the entire trip!

UP NEXT: Arrival in Orlando & WDW! Boardwalk here we come!

Day #1 continued...

We arrived in Orlando about ten minutes prior to the scheduled time. I was SO excited! It was bright, sunny, and beautiful out. We made our way to the little monorail, took the trek down to the ME area, and hopped right in a non-existent line. It was about 9 a.m. We got right on a bus and within five minutes we were on our way!

Vinnie was getting really excited. The video played and before we knew it we were pulling through the gates. Unfortunately, I didn't get a pic of this, as we were kind of far back on the bus. We stopped at POR and POFQ to drop some people off, then we were home! I could not wait to get to the Boardwalk. We had stayed there for one night, in the Inn, about ten years ago, but never the villas. Plus, I just love the Epcot area resorts.

The first thing you see in the lobby is:

How beautiful is that?

We walked on over to the online check-in area, and it was a breeze. It was only about 10 a.m., and our room wasn't ready yet. We decided to head on outside, take a walk around the lake, and grab a bite to eat.

It was such a gorgeous day, but it was very humid already. I couldn't wait to change into shorts, or better yet...my bathing suit!

The boyfriends seemed to be pretty impressed with the area. We walked by the Beach & Yacht club, Swan and Dolphin, and back to the Boardwalk. We showed them where we would could take the boats, how close Epcot was, and you could see the ToT from the Swan & Dolphin area.

We were starving and none of us had eaten breakfast, so we moseyed on over to the Boardwalk Bakery, a place where we would frequent quite often during the next five days! We were doing the QSDP, a first for us, so we also got refillable mugs. I had never done the refillable mug thing, but it was great! I think if we were going to be at the parks the entire time it wouldn't have been as beneficial, but because we had 2 days where we were "resting" and around to take advantage of the mugs, it was great. We each got a croissant sandwich -- Kiki & I with tomato, the guys with bacon -- and picked up our first set of mugs. Yes, our first set! We would be getting four more on Saturday because we were checking out of our room and checking into a different one, and a new dining plan starts.

I forgot to capture our DELICIOUS sandwiches until this is all that was left...

They were so great. We also used the QS credit to stock up on water. Boy, would we need it! We sat on the BW and enjoyed the meal, then decided we needed to hop in the pool. We changed in the bathrooms and headed to the Luna Park pool. I love this pool area. The theme was so cute, and it wasn't too crowded.

Kiki and Tim braved the slide:

The water was so refreshing! We lounged for a bit, where I proceeded to get the worst sunburn I think I've ever had. It's really awful getting burned the first day and having to deal with it the rest of the time! Around 12:40 I got the text that our room was ready, and we were psyched to get out of the sun and see our home for the next two nights.

Coming up next...will the room live up to our expectations?!

Your TR title pulled me in! When we were planning our impromptu April 2010 trip, my mom said to me "Why don't we wait and go in Oct?" which is our favorite time to go. I told her, "Well, we WILL be going in Oct but we are not waiting any longer to go to Disney NOW!"

What a nice Poppy you have. I am the kind of person that never misplaces her wallet, keys, or cell phone because I obsessively check for these things every two minutes. Though, not too long ago I was so enthralled by the Croc display at Dick's Sporting Goods that I left my entire purse on the floor right there and just kept shopping. LOL!

Keep up the good TR :dance3:

Haha, I completely agree with your school of thought. Why delay the fun times that are sure to be had, right? Are you going again in October? If so, that's awesome! I really hope to go some October for Food & Wine.

My Poppy is the best :goodvibes. What a lifesaver! That is too funny about dropping your purse in the middle of the store. I wouldn't be surprised if I ever did something like that! Thanks for reading :)

i'm in :) yay last minute trips are awesome!!

so you live in albany??

Last minute trips ARE the best! I do live in Albany. Where in upstate NY are you?

Day #1, part 3!

It was finally time to check out the room. For our first two nights, our home was:

DSC05665.jpg

It was not far from the pool at all. I really enjoyed the location. Plus, it was right near the Boardwalk-Swan-Dolphin intersection, so at times when the Swan was the first stop on the bus, we could just hop off there and get to our room quicker.

We were in a 1BR Garden View villa. It was so lovely. When you first walked in there was a closet with a vacuum, pack-n-play, and a bunch of other things. There was a mirror with a small shelf. Right around the corner was the washer and dryer. This was great. I actually didn't use it in this room, but I did use the one in our 2nd room on our last night.

DSC05664.jpg

Tim and Vince didn't waste anytime...they made themselves a drink and cheered to the vacation! They are in the FULL kitchen, and I'm taking this picture from the balcony off of the living room. The couch pulled out to a queen bed, and there was a nice flat screen tv.

DSC05659.jpg

This was the view from the balcony. Behind the trees are the Swan and Dolphin.

This is a view from the other balcony looking into the master bedroom. I LOVED the king bed. It felt so much bigger than my queen at home! You could look into part of the bathroom. You could close off the shutters above the tub. You can also see the nice walk-in closet in the background. It was quite spacious.

I loooooved this tub. It was great to soak your feet in at the end of the day, and I did take one bath. It was great. I loved the jets!

DSC05663.jpg

After exploring the room and relaxing for a bit, we decided it was time to stroll over to Beaches and Cream for a little (ha) snack.

This is in the garden area below our room:

We waited about 20 minutes for a table, and then ordered this:

DSC05673-1.jpg

The KITCHEN SINK! YUM! We had gotten this a few years ago with the whole family, and could not finish it. However, this time, we had two boys with us. Two hungry boys. And we ate all of it!

DSC05675-1.jpg

We rolled out of there and hopped on a bus to Downtown Disney. We walked the entire strip, picked up a few souvenirs at the World of Disney, and soaked up the sun. Boy, it was hot. When we decided that we actually had room for some dinner, we picked up some food at Earl of Sandwich. We LOVE this place. The sandwiches are so tasty. We took the bus back to the Boardwalk and walked over to the ESPN club for some drinks and to watch game 4 of the Lakers vs. Celtics. It was packed in there!

DSC05685-1-1.jpg

I had the Magical Star Cocktail. This was great if you love fruity drinks like I do. And I even took the light-up cube home! My only complaint...this drink was $10! Why must drinks be so expensive in Disney!?

DSC05687.jpg

We stayed for about an hour or so, and then decided we should go back to the room. We had a long day planned for Friday, starting with EMH in the morning at DHS, and EMH at MK at night. We purchased 2day hoppers, so we had a LOT to fit in to two days!

UP NEXT: Will DHS be massively packed because of Star Wars Weekends? Will we make it to MK at a decent hour? And will we survive heat?!

Hope you'll keep reading! Stay tuned.

WHAT A GORGEOUS ROOM!!! I am practically DROOLING over it... that and the Kitchen Sink! We always want to get this but don't have enough people to even make a dent. I can't even finish one of the one person sundaes there. Sadly. My dream is to go with like 8 friends and tear that thing apart!

HEY!! i'm here joining in...alrighty, going back to catch up!\

Oh my, those are really beautiful pics of the Boardwalk! And that Kitchen Sink! You guys finished it all!! that's crazy! LOL! Can't wait to hear more!

The room was amazing. I have never had one of the one-person sundaes there, but I do want to try one, they look so yummy. There was this chocolate peanut butter one -- I think it was called the No Way Jose? It sounded sooo goood! The Kitchen sink is so overwhelming. Definitely bring a big group, or at least people w/big appetites like I did!

HEY!!! I'm joining in - Loving your report so far!! :goodvibes

The Boardwalk looks so pretty! It's so BRIGHT AND CHEERY and I LOVE it. I definitely want to stay there someday.

Nice job polishing off the Kitchen Sink. I keep trying to drag my family over to Beaches and Cream to try it. Maybe I'll have some luck with it this year!

I love impromptu trips (I didn't spell that right, did I? :rotfl2:) And I even love BWV even more!! (we have a 2-bedroom boardwalk view reserved for our trip this year and I am beyond excited - esp since it will be my youngest 2 sons' first trip ) The renovated rooms are gorgeous now.

Ouch on the sunburn - esp your first day!! I hope you were able to sleep and enjoy your trip inspite of it

Reading along! I love the Magical Star Cocktail! I had one (or two) at Victoria Falls at AKL in April. So yummy!
