For some, Spring is the time of renewal. Time to throw off the dark of winter, open up the windows and let the fresh breezes revitalize the soul. To witness the birth of summer’s newest woodland creatures, to revel in the greenery sprouting from the earth, to sneeze repeatedly so hard you think you might have actually ruptured something this time – as you discover Nature’s gift in the molds stirred up from under any errant leaves…

AhhCHOO! Excuse me…

To my DH, DS and to me…it is the time our WDW Annual Passes start to screech “taaaake ussss hooooooome!!!” from their dark and lonely hiding place in the suitcase pockets. And when inanimate objects screech in your house, you listen.

Believe me – you listen!

So in just six days (SQUEEEEE!!!!) we will be flying south for the…er…Spring, and plan to ride and eat our way across the World again. I have spent many a delighted hour poring over ADR itineraries, debating QSP vs DDP vs DDX, finally arriving at some final decisions, which I have altered and changed again and again, including just this afternoon. I believe we have finally arrived at some final decisions, but really…who knows?

After pondering and thinking and wondering and reading and lurking I have finally decided that yes – I’m doing a semi live-ish dining report. Because I love reading other people’s reports and I truly enjoy doing my own. So a few promises:

1. There will be food – and lots of it!
2. There will be photos – and many of them!
3. It will be Live – sort of. :confused3

We will be doing a split stay and I’m not absolutely certain about the internet access I’ll be enjoying. I may be searching out some wifi places to relax and update, or we may just go ahead and buy the access. We know the Kidani portion will have free internet so we’re looking forward to that.

So – a few housekeeping items:

Who are we?

Our little family is just me (Jenn), my DH and our 8 year old DS. We’re a pretty boring family from up here in Wisconsin (although DH originally hails from Chicago, which doesn’t actually make him any less boring). I don’t presume to think people will be intrigued by our “adventures” at WDW, but I’m pretty sure the food will be interesting (because it’s food) so there will be plenty of that. We don’t really eat anything too crazy but we do like more than hot dogs and burgers. And we’re firmly on the “don’t tell me what to eat on vacation like those disgusting whole wheat crumbly buns” bandwagon.

(Any Dave Barry fans out there? If so – wouldn’t Whole Wheat Crumbly Buns” be a great name for a rock band? Just sayin’……:rolleyes1)

Where will we be?

As you can see in my signature, we’re splitting our stay with a few quick days at POFQ, a few more days at AKV-Kidani and finishing up with just shy of a week at the BCV’s. These three reservations are very important to our dining plans.

Why?

POFQ will have (gasp!!!) no dining plan. We decided there were too many places we really do like off property and this was the perfect time to enjoy them. The list looks like this:

- Joe’s Crab Shack
- Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ
- Sweet Tomatoes
- Macaroni Grill

Not sure how they will all pan out, but this is the time to do them. We considered the QSP here but for $225 we decided to save it and give the money to AKV Kidani because…:

At Kidani, we’ll be using the DDX plan. We know it’s too much food, we know it’s insane, but we have to do it at least once. So here’s where we’re piling on the Signatures we love, one new one and some lunches. So that when we move our stuffed selves over…

To the Beach Club Villas we’ll be on the nice old basic DDP. With full bellies and brand new rolls of Rolaids soft chews. Just in case.

Where will we be eating?

I have no idea. Honest – I have no clue. We’re definitely ADR people. We absolutely spend way too much time planning. Okay, so in the interest of full disclosure I spend way too much time planning and DH and DS spend more time than they really want listening and being nagged and beaten for their opinions. Which I do value. Mostly. The thing is, as much as we look forward to our plans, sometimes things happen and we get in the mood for something else. Usually “I’m too tired to deal with turnstiles and waddling across the entire park so let’s drive to a resort instead” moods Or "I'd rather stay and swim longer can we get something later tonight" moods. The kind that start with an ADR to Tutto Italia and end up with a cancellation and a rebook at The Wave or something. This happens 2-3 times on long trips. But to appease the dining gods, I promise I never cancel the major things other people would have wanted and I do always cancel. Thank those same gods for online booking…!

So where do we have ADR’s? Get ready for a list (in no particular order)!

Breakfast/Brunch

Boma
Grand Floridian Café (new)
Kona Café
Cape May Café (we like Cafes, apparently)

Lunch:

Yak and Yeti (new)
Tutto Italia (new for lunch)
Coral Reef (also new for lunch)
Sci Fi (new)
Le Cellier
Chef’s de France (new)

Dinner:

Citricos (new – very excited about this one!)
Le Cellier
Jiko
Raglan Road (new)
Narcoosees
Cape May Café
The Wave
Teppan Edo
Yachtsman Steakhouse

Bonus Material:

Wishes Fireworks Dessert Party.

Wow…feeling a little gluttonous (which I originally spelled "glutinous" which is also probably going to be accurate ) right now…and a little embarrassed….I have super high hopes for the weather (10 day forecast is saying high of 79-81 for the trip's beginning) so if weather is good the walking will be up and so will the food. If the weather is unseasonably hot for us for the fourth trip in a row, both walking and food will be down and I will probably plan all future WDW trips in January. I mean it this time…

When?

We fly out Friday night (4.16.10) and the report starts Saturday (4.17.10). There won’t be any TS WDW food until Monday, but there will be snacks and potentially CS.

So join me if you care to and we’ll explore live the delights that come from the WDW kitchens!!

(not sure if this is the thread I get to keep since we’re leaving in 6 days or if it’s going to close and change to live, but I’ll come back and add a link)

Hello my friend!!!

Can't wait for your reviews, you're eating at some of my favorites!

Welcome!!

:cool1: Can't wait to read all about it!

Welcome to you too~!!

Debating this morning with DH about Raglan Road vs Kouzzina. Debating isn't probably the right word since he really doesn't care. As long as he has YSH, CMC, Joe's Crab Shack he's happy. The entrees at RR aren't interesting to me but the desserts and appetizers look really good. But then there's Kouzzina. Add feta to pretty much anything (exceptions: cereal and ice cream) and I'm happy.

DH is not a Mediterranean kind of guy, but will humor me with Kouzzina. And DS doesn't care since the WDW menus are pretty much identical everywhere. So it's either Ireland or Greece.

Or the Turf Club...

Decisions...

Here's one vote for Greece! We had a wonderful meal there last September and a really mediocre one at RR!

I share your excitement, we leave in 12 short days :woohoo:

Once you leave we will close this thread and have you start your actual dining review in a new thread

Can't wait to hear your reviews of the restaurants you will be going to (thus far anyway haha)

I keep hearing iffy things about Kouzzina, but you just never know! I too am a fan of Greek food...but then I also love the laidback Irish as well! We'll be trying Raglan Road for the first time for dinner during our trip next month.

Woohoo Jenn, I'm here - and can't wait. Don't forget my PB&J early warning sign please ;)

Enthusiastically in! :thumbsup2

Maybe your report will finally help me decide if I should stick with my dinner ressies at Narcoossee's or change them to Citrios, Jiko, or The Wave (The Wave was one of our faves during our last trip). I'm really struggling with this one. It'll be 2 adults (one who is originally from WI), and 2 kids - ages 3 and 5. The only other signature we're doing is Cali Grill.

thanks! Kouzzina really does appeal to me more......

And give it one more day and there will probably be another option. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: :):):)

Yeah - YOU be quiet now!!! :rotfl:

Signing on, you have a great line-up!:thumbsup2

Thanks!!

Count me in
It's a great line up of restaurants, have a wonderful trip !!

Thanks!

Sounds good - I'll start a new one tomorrow when we actually leave. You'll be there the same time as us, actually! Any of the same restaurants on your plans?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on CA Grill and Flying Fish - we've never been.

Can't wait to hear your reviews of the restaurants you will be going to (thus far anyway haha)

We have the greatest Greek restaurant up here but it only really serves a few items. Kouzzina just appeals, but I wonder how much longer they need to iron out kinks?

Woohoo Jenn, I'm here - and can't wait. Don't forget my PB&J early warning sign please ;)

Got ya covered with the PB! Or not covered...? :rotfl:

Enthusiastically in! :thumbsup2

DH would definitely give up Jiko for Narcoosee's, but we worked them both in. I'll definitely let you know my picks of the four ;)

Just 23 short hours until we're on the road to the airport and I can't wait. I'll start the live report tomorrow and by Saturday morning I'll be posting our first vacation meals.

Hope to "see" you all on board!
