Hello! My name is Melanie and I'm a dis-aholic! Yes, I seriously think I need a 12 step Disney addiction program. A couple of years ago I would never had said this. Sure I like Disney movies and the mouse and all that, but I didn't become a Dis-aholic until a year and half ago. You see, it all started with our first trip last April. Now, I had never been to WDW before (once to DL 10yrs ago, but I don't count that trip. It was on the 4th of July and I don't recall much about it other than not doing much). Anyway somehow I discovered the Dis and I can't stop reading the boards, especially when I have a trip planned. Hmmmm, what happens if there is no upcoming trip, then what do I do? Will I continue to read and live vicariously through everyone elses reports? Maybe.................. Like I said, I think I need a 12 step program.

Last years trip was our first and I had no idea what I was in for. Luckily with the help of the Dis and TGM, I was able to plan a near-perfect trip. Heck, how would I know any better if it wasn't perfect since I had never been there before, right? Well, everything worked out really well. I didn't think the crowds were very heavy and we had a really great time as a family. (link to that TR below).

I fell in  with Disney that trip. Why, I can't really say, but just everything was magical that week. The castle was beautiful, the weather was awesome, and my family was with me. Perhaps it was like getting a piece of childhood back, that ability to experience everything through the eyes of a child and to feel like a child again. We thought it was a once in a lifetime trip for us and didn't have any plans on returning again anytime soon. After all, it wasn't a "cheap" vacation, but it was worth every penny. Looking back, Disney is actually a good value. Look at all the stuff you can do in one area!

After we got home, that Disney-depression set in...................DH and I had an anniversary-moon trip upcoming in September that had been in the works for over a year. Since airline tickets weren't booked, I was able to convince DH to add on a couple of days at Disney, so my second trip to "my happy place" as I now refer to it, was in the works thanks to the military discounts offered. After that trip, we didn't have any vacations planned for the following year. Of course in the back of my now Disney-obsesses mind, I knew I would figure out a way to get back. bawhaa-bawhh (evil laugh).

YES I DRANK THE KOOL-AID................A LOT OF IT! :lmao:

Here is a picture of the happy family

Well, on a cold January weekend, I happened to be surfing on the Dis. What else is there to do on the weekends right? Ya need something to remind you that sunshine is around the corner. Anyway so I'm playing around with airfare just to see where it is at for spring / summer / heck even fall.............Well I don't know if I hit the lucky train or what, but I was finding airfar to MCO for around $200 pp. This was unheard of for our area! Now I'm getting all excited. I can get us to Orlando for fairly cheap in the terms of airfare prices! So I throw out to DH the idea of maybe another Disney trip because airfare is so low. Of course he didn't seem to enthusiastic about it. Of course, he hasn't drunk the kool-aid yet :sad2:

A couple of days later Disney released military deals. WOO HOO!!! :woohoo::woohoo::banana: Now these aren't as good as last years ticket deal, but still very good! At the same time I believe the also released the 40% room discount to military as well. So between airfare, the cheap tickets and discounted room, it was the Disney gods telling me we had to go again!! :worship::worship:

Flying into MCO meant we could use the ME and we wouldn't need a rental car, which would cut down on the cost of this trip, which I was trying to get as cheap as possible. Now last time we stayed off-site and had a car, so I am a little nervous about relying on Disney transportation, but I'm sure it will be fine. If we don't like it, then we will know for next time. Yes, there will be next time.........<insert evil laugh>

So airfare was looking really good for late April, so I played around with pricing on the :surfweb:. I had notes and prices written all over the place. DH knew he was in trouble.................when I get something in my head, watch out cuz it's gonna happen! :thumbsup2 I found some dates at the end of April that looked good. DS9 wouldn't need to miss too much school, the dates wouldn't interfere with DH's work scheduled (drill weekend). So now to decide on a resort................values would be the cheaper option, but I was nervous about the 4 of is in those smaller rooms. Last year we had a three bedroom condo; big change!

Well, the moderates were a little bigger and they had cool slides at the pool for the kids. :thumbsup2 So I called and booked a room at POFQ for 7 days / 6 nights, 4/21 - 4/27. When they asked if I needed tickets, I said we were using the military ticket offer, so we did not. Well, again the Disney gods were upon me............just that morning they released the DDP for military so I was able to add that to our room ressie. :cool1::cool1:

I figured the DDP would be a good deal since both kids were still considered children on the plan. Might as well take advantage of it while we can. I don't know that I will pay the higher price DS9 the next trip. So room and DDP is booked, I went ahead and purchased the airfare as well. WE ARE GOING TO DISNEY, WE ARE GOING DISNEY :dance3:

Can you tell I'm excited? Sorry if this PTR is boring. I think this is a great way to put my plans out there. Aaahhh, but how many times will I change my plans? .................. stay tuned for more!

I will leave you with some of my favorite pics from last year:

So I did I change resorts? Why of course I did!! My Disney math works likes this. It cost xx amount for the trip, so the cost of the increase to upgrade is like the first amount never existed! See, how is that for Disney math? :lmao:

Works out fine until you have to pay it in full 45 days before your trip! Oh well, it is all paid off and we are now staying at the Polynesian!!! DH and the kids don't know, so it is a surprise for them! DS9 really wanted to stay there after seeing the pictures from our September trip. DH doesn't really care, so with the military room discount, it made it affordable. Plus, who knows if I will ever get to stay there again, right?

So, resort it a go. Ressies were next! I love the online reservation system. I'm not a fan of having to call in and go through all the phone options and then sit on hold. I did make some ressies when I booked our package, but all those ended up out the window!

After I signed back up for TGM and selected our park days, it was much easier to narrow down the restaurants we wanted. Here is our ADR's:

Arrival night - Dinner Chef Mickeys
Day 1 - Dinner 'Ohana
Day 2 - Dinner 1900 Park Fare
Day 3 - Break day - Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare
Day 4 - Biergarten
Day 5 - Dinner Crystal Palace.
Departure Day :sad1:

I made and cancelled so many reservations..................I would get one for the restaurant and then decide I didn't like the time, so I would change it. Finally I decided to stop messing with them and just leave them. All of these are new ones for us. I wasn't too sure about doing the 1900 for both dinner and breakfast, but since they are different characters, I decided to go for it. Besides, with two boys, I better get my chance to dine with the Princesses while I can. :goodvibes

Now that all the "hard" stuff is done, it is just a waiting game.............39 DAYS FROM TODAY AND WILL BE IN WDW!!!!:banana:

What to do to pass the time....................???????????????????

Joining in! Your pics are wonderful. I've always wanted to stay at Poly, but haven't had the chance.

Hope you have fun planning!

Thanks for joining! My September TR has lots of Poly pics. Check it out if you get a chance!

So yesterday the kids and I made our Disney countdown calendar. I will upload and post a pic later. I'm thinking it was great in theory, but maybe not so much in actuality.....................

DS4 wakes up today and says we are going on vacation as soon as we all get dressed! Uh Oh................we still have 38 days to go. I explain how we mark off a day each evening and when we get to the last one, we will go on vacation. I have a feeling I will be repeating this everyday for the next 38 days................. maybe next trip, no countdown calendar??

I'm joining in as well. I love youer DIsney math. It seems we all do it that way. LOL...I need to do our countdown calendar over here. I'll be starting ours at 45 days out, so I have about 23 days till it needs to be ready.

Don't ya love Disney math??!! :lmao: I don't know that DH will agree with it though. :goodvibes I also tend to be more generous on vacation with letting the kids get stuff that I normally am. Maybe that is the point of a vacation, to just let loose.

Here is a picture of the countdown calendar. I used my Cricut machine with the Disney cartridge to make the letters and mickey heads. I then wrote the number of days on them.

:banana::banana::banana:

Look what came in the mail today!!!

This is our first time using the ME, so I'm excited! Does anyone know when we get the luggage tags that are part of the resort package??

37 days to go!! :banana::banana:

okay, this story sort of sounds familiar to me... i personally think that they DH's just dont want to admit how much they want to go back so they blame it on the wives and the commercials LOL
i love your evil thoughts wiht the upgrade!

So in addition to making a countdown calendar, I also made autograph books for each of the boys, since they told me they didn't want to share this time. Last year, I printed out a card for each character that I stuck in a small photo album. I then decorated a small clipboard with Disney stickers that we used.

This year they are a little more "fancy". I mounted the pics on an 8x8 page so that when we get back I can put a pic of each of the boys on the opposite page for a keepsake item. The ones from last year went into my scrapbook.

Here are their books. They turned out much heavier that I would have thought.

At the back of the book I printed out character pages that coinsided with each of the character dining restaurants are going to as well. I got these from the DISigns boards. Those gals rock!!

The worst part of planning is those few days when you are getting close to the actual trip and there isn't any more planning you can really do.............. a few weeks ago I was toying with the idea of changing resorts. Downgrading to something cheaper with the "evil" thought that if I did this, MAYBE I could talk DH into another trip this fall............... unfortunately he is suppose to deploy later this year, so I don't think that will work out too well, timing wise.

So I decided to keep the Poly (which I LOVE, don't get me wrong). Besides, all of our ADR's are based around where we are staying. Yes, it isn't huge to change the resort, but it just makes it easier on us if we don't make changes. Besides, I probably wouldn't be able to get the ADR's I would want this late in the game.

Now that we are closer, I tend to start procrastinating on stuff.................:rolleyes1 I have started laying out some of the stuff I will pack, such as pool shoes and swim suits.............. but I really need to:

1. Print out generic autograph cards
2. Print out daily letters - each day the kids will have a letter from the characters inviting them to the meals for each evening. I did this last year with small gifts as well and they LOVED it!!! DS9 actually asked if I thought they would get gifts again this year and I had to tell him I think it only happens on the first visit.............:rotfl:
3. PACK!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I think the suitcases will come out this week.:rotfl:

Ok, I'm off for a motorcycle ride with DH...............enjoy your Easter!!

I think it's a good idea to stick with the poly. You never know if the discounts will be available for the next trip.
We did the letter/ gift thing too. Maybe just an arrival gift this time?

I agree with sticking with the Poly and the discount.........40% military was too good to pass up. I think next time we may stay in a condo off-site again. It will all depend on how this trip goes with four of us in a hotel room. At least the Poly rooms are huge!

I like the idea of an arrival night gift..............I went WAY overboard last year on gifts. Since it was a surprise trip, they each had a goodie bag to open when we revealed the surprise, then little things each morning that went with what we were doing for the day, such as shirts or coloring books, etc.

this late in the game, I don't know what kind of "welcome" gift I could do.............I did pick up a sandbucket and shovel for them to use on the beach at the Poly............. maybe I could put something else in the bucket for them too?

Any ideas????

14 days to go!!!!!!!! Two weeks from tonight I will be at the Poly and I can't wait!! Me and the boys watched the Disney planning dvd tonight finally! We were going to watch Cinderella, but didn't get time. DS4 did watch Alice in Wonderland during rest time. "We are painting the roses red; we are painting th roses red"............. he kept singing it tonight, it was so cute!

I figured I better get the letters printed off and in my vacation folder. Each day (or evening) they will receive a letter so they know either what we are doing or were we are dining at. I used my digital scrapbook software to create these.

I feel like I'm talking to myself................HELLO??? Anyone out there??? :rotfl::rotfl: (Ok, so I do sometimes talk to myself. You know you do the same! ) :goodvibes

So last night I had a horrible vacation dream!! I dreamt that we went to the airport and the our flight ended up getting cancelled (why, I don't know) and that they couldn't get us on anything until the next day. Not really a huge deal, but we don't have that many days at Disney and I was freaking out! It meant we wouldn't get to eat at Chef Mickey's on arrival nite since the restaurant was completely booked...................and it meant we would miss AK as our first park day...............and meant we wouldn't get to eat at 'Ohana for dinner that next night either (the night the "new" flight was set to arrive). I don't remember what happened next, but the next day's flight wasn't going to get us in until after 10pm so I was freaking out about luggage, the ME (this is our first time using ME) and not getting to see the Disney sign..................

Thank God it was just a bad dream..............they always seem to start when a trip gets close. 11 days now............and the boys are slacking on crossing off the countdown calendar. I thought they would be more excited with it. Maybe we will surprise them with a trip next time rather than telling them. :sad2::sad2:

Me? I can't wait! I keep looking over park touring plans trying to decide on a plan of attack; hoping it won't be too busy; praying I will get to see MK opening ceremony on this trip, since we seem to just miss it on past trips.

The suitcases are coming out today so I can start packing "stuff". The clothes will have to wait another week. DS4 needs some new tank tops, so I think shopping is in order for today. DS9 won't weat tanks in the parks, even though I try to convince him he is going to be hot..............he's hitting that age where he knows best. Oh well, I'm sure that only gets worse............:scared1:

If something does go off the schedule, it'll all still work out. I know it's stressful the last couple weeks. All the hard planning, we want everything to be as awesome as possible. The good thing Is that when something doesn't go as planned, no one else knows!

Any ideas????

I like your letters. Who's at the gf breakfast? I can't remember.

And I do talk to myself- especially on the computer.

Do you think you can sneak in to put a gift in or will you have to order it to your room?
For our arrival gift last time, I had it all packaged and when we left for dinner I "forgot something" and went back in to set it out. I was going to go to the room first but the rest of the group beat us there. For dd4 and dn3 I did a stuffed baby, a lanyard and pins, a couple of Mickey coloring things, sheets for them to document their trip(face rides, where we went, where we ate, who we met) I know there was more but it's escaping me. There's a pic in my tr- probably on page 1. I can't copy from my phone.
You could do a new shirt or autograph book
