Cancellation Policy for DCL Excursion

Does anyone know what the cancellation policy is if I booked a shore excursion online? Also, if the excursion fees are for 3 and up and the excursion is for "All Ages", does it mean kids under 3 go for free?

You can change/cancel excursions once you are on board I think they ask for 24 hours notice. I think I would call and confirm about the under 3 year old:confused3

For most shore trips the cancellation period is free until 72 hours -3 days pre cruise, this is not for 'all' if you have booked and prepaid a deposit for a signature trip these are not refundable.

However if you haven't paid anything so far pre cruise then you can cancel up to 72 hours pre cruise without any penalty.

There are notes re kids under three on the actual shore trips, some require booking ie some boat trips, but normally they are free, but do not expect a seat. ( unless a boat etc). Some trips do not allow kids below a certain age, so again check the detail. It will quote 'ALL AGES' if kids below 3 are allowed, if there is a higher age limit it will say Ages 5 and above, 5>9 etc.

To give you an example of the exception on signature shore trips, I am booked on a DCL private Berlin tour, its all paid up now, but my booking window doesnt open until March 20th for normal shore trips. There are more and more of these now and they tend to ask you to contact DCL by email when you want to book. They are non refundable unless the ship doesnt dock in that port.

Below 72 hours is only allowed if they can resell that trip to someone else onboard.

it's 72 hours before you cruise, it is the same date you have to complete the online checkout by.

note that this might be different for Europe.

Europe is the same, as USA, but with the detail as my first post.

IE 'Standard' shore trips 72 hours.

Signature ones that require contact with DCL by email, pay on booking and no cancellation.

In Europe yes there are a lot of signature ones, but we have booked these in Mexico and Panama as well.

Sorry, but this is not correct. The policy is that you can cancel or change an excursion up to 3 days before embarkation (not 3 days before the excursion) and will not be charged. SPA appointments require 24 hours notice, so that might be where the confusion came in.

Once on board, you MAY be able to cancel an excursion and not be charged IF they have a wait list for that excursion. Basically, if they can re-sell your spot to someone else, you won't be charged for it; if they can't re-sell it, you are stuck paying whether you go or not. Someone else posted that you can only cancel on board if you book a more expensive excursion--this is not consistent with my experience. For us, it was just a matter that they had a wait list, so had no problem with canceling us and adding someone from the list.

In most cases, children under 3 are free....but I'd still call to verify that.

Yes I see this sounds like I was wrong. I was concerned I had booked a surprise excursion for kids and was under the impression if they we too scared to go I would likely be able to cancel them. I may have been wrong and/or Disney may have been flexible under these circumstances?? Don't know everyone wanted to participate:thumbsup2

If they can resell they will and then there isn't any charge. DCL will always try, and try hard to accomodate anyone....

Don't worry about being wrong in this instance, the correct information had already been posted on posts 3/4, there isn't anyone on these boards that hasn't got something wrong, as it changes so often anyway.

I have cancelled a couple of excursions on two different cruises and always been told the same thing: if you change your mind and book another excursion, they won't charge you. I've been able to do this twice once I read the full explanation of the excursions on board and felt they weren't appropriate for our family. They were very, very nice about it too.

They also told me that if you are legitimately sick they won't charge you either.

I don't know if this is the formal policy, but this is what I have been told.
