"I Want to walk where Walt walked." WDW Nut makes a Pilgrimage-TR Wrap-Up 5/14

Just found your PTR. We, too are WDW vets planning our first trip to DL. We are going in July so we can also see the Red Sox play the Angels.

I am with you on the 'no planning' thing ... I can't believe that I have to wait til May/June to make any definite reservations, plans, etc. Heck if we were going to WDW in July that would all be done!

Can't wait to read your report so I know what to do come our trip to plan!

We went three years ago.
Now we've been three years in a row!
Sad to hear your going to miss Fantasmic! (much better at DL), World of Color, and Mark Twain. But you will get to see Remember Dreams Come True fireworks the best show at any disney park.

Get the four day disney pass and take your time to enjoy and relax.
You will get to see Aladdin stage show at DCA which goes away at the end of the year. It is wonderful. Sit in the first row behind the main floor center stage.

What is your favorite ride at WDW?

Oh yeah I love your title of this report. This is Walt's baby and to think of him actually walking through it makes me happy as I walk down mainstreet.

You need to go to Disneyland Hotel to see all the old photos as well.

Pirates of the Caribbean, and the dark rides in Fantasyland.

I'll add it to my list :goodvibes

I heard that they weren't doing Fireworks and I almost rescheduled our trip. Glad I didn't because it was just a mixup of Fireworks and Fantasmic...phew!

My favorite at WDW is the Haunted Mansion...I love it!

Side note: I'm heading for vacation tomorrow, so I won't be checking in for a week. The good news is that I'll have read the Unofficial Guide by the time I get back, so I'll be armed with more planning!

I'm so glad i just found your post! Hope your trip goes well! We are also taking our first trip to DL this year (early August). I have just finished the Unofficial guide and the 2010 Disneyland brochure and to be honest STILL confused on the most important point: where to stay! It seems to be down to HOJO, Candy Cane inn, Fairfield Inn, or Motel 6 maingate (looks like a budget BLT decor!); with a hopeful one nighter @ Grand Californian if the price is right. So i'm REALLY looking forward to your comments on the HOJO; the "walk in Walt's footsteps" tour; and the differences and recommendations. I also just read today that the Lilo and Stich breakfast has been changed to Mickey's Surf's Up.

I have heard great things about the Fairfield Inn and Hojo's for sure. Money wise if you can get the entertainment rate for Hojo's I say go for it. You cannot beat it.

Yes, you cannot miss Aladdin. It was so funny!!! And, I just really loved noticing the differences between WDW and DLR - I loved how many of the DL ride lines are outside.

Now that I think about it, I remember we were anxious about the park hours too. Even though there wasn't as much overall planning, we too were waiting and waiting on them. They seem to put them out like a week at a time - I remember getting excited when they finally had Halloween week hours out since we were arriving Nov 1, we knew our week's hours couldn't be far behind.

After our experience, I probably wouldn't suggest Napa Rose. Not that it was terrible, but it was just so-so and too expensive for that.
We did Storyteller's breakfast and enjoyed it - it was very empty which made for a lot of time for character interaction and a nice leisurely breakfast. The decor was very nice.

Hi all! I'm back...did you miss me? Of course you did :flower3:

I'm looking forward to checking out Aladdin, I really like the shows at WDW.

Thanks for the review on the restaurants. I think we'll skip Napa Rose and definitely do Storyteller's for breakfast :goodvibes

Wow...little concerned, just checked the hours and most of the days are 8am-midnight. Doesn't that mean they expect it to be super crowded? *sigh*

Thanks! It was a blast!

Alright! Who's ready for some planning?!!?!

Hours:

Wednesday: DL 8am-midnight & DCA 9am-7pm
Thursday: DL 8am-midnight & DCA 9am-7pm
Friday: DL 8am-midnight & DCA 9am-10pm
Saturday: DL 8am-midnight & DCA 9am-10pm

Wednesday we'll get in around noon, dinner we'll grab either on the go or if we want to sit at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Cafe. Not going to make a PS since if we eat, it'll be early!

Thursday there's the Magic Mornings, but we'll save that. We have breakfast at 7:30am at Storyteller's

Friday we have lunch at Cafe Orleans at 12:30pm

Saturday we'll do the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour, which should start at 9:30am, if we're up early, we can use the Magic Mornings on Saturday prior to the tour starting.

Sunday we go home :'(

Looks great!!
They'll have you check in for the tour at 9am......I would definately take advantage of that Magic Morning.......you really get some quality ride time in at Fantasyland that you won't the rest of the time.

The main problem is getting the boyfriend out of bed that early! :rotfl:

I am sure that he is like my husband and "I am on vacation, and I want to sleep in on my vacation." Dorks.:rotfl:

Hey Kelly, saw your post on Brooke's TR and saw you are going to DISNEYLAND!!! Awesome! You are going to love it. I was always afraid DL would be "boring" compared to WDW but it's so cool seeing the original Disney park and all the different things they have there. Not too long to go now!

I really can't wait  I think I'm starting to drive my boyfriend crazy with, "Can we go yet? Can we go yet?"

Note: when DLR says that tours go on sale a "month" prior to the tour date. They mean a month, not 30 days...grrrr....
