Windsor Hills - Would you pay $30 per day to heat your pool in August??

Would you pay $30 per day to heat the pool in August? Whenever I've been to Orlando in August, the weather is super hot and humid. Do I need to spend money on heating the pool, which the Windsor Hills owner is charging an extra $30 per day?

We stayed at Windsor Hills in July of 08 and did not heat the pool, it still felt like warm bath water! So, I would say no.

We stayed at Emerald Island in October and didn't need to heat the pool. You definitely wouldn't need the heat in July.

Though I have a pool heater, I don't heat my pool at home in Vermont in August because the water is warm without it! You won't need to have the pool heated in Florida in August.

Pool heat should be optional. The only reason you would pay for pool heat in August would be if you wanted the spa to be hot. In Windsor Hills, the pool heat and spa heat are one in the same (you can't turn the spa heat on without heating the entire pool). So unless you really need that hot soak in the hot tub, which sounds rather unappealing when it will likely be 90+ and humid out, you shouldn't pay for the pool heat. I'm sure the owner would be willing to take this off your quote if you email and let them know you don't want it. Owners generally don't want people to use pool heat when it's unnecessary, it is just more wear and tear on the heater, and at $30 a day they would not be making much of a profit off of it or anything. Electric bills in FL are wicked expensive!

Can I jump in here and ask what you all think about heating a pool in May? We were in Orlando last May and the temps were in the low 90's. I can't imagine the pools would be very cold, especially the small splash pools at the WH townhouses which is where we're probably staying. Then again, I hate a cold swimming pool. I'm undecided.

I have a house down there, and I would not heat my pool in May. If you're worried about temperature dropping at night, you can put the blanket on overnight. (providing they have one).

No! I can't imagine heating a pool in August you will roast. Save the money and cool off.

After being in Orlando last June when it was 100 every day and the pool at the resort (4-6' deep) was too warm to swim in...I definitely say no. $30 to cool down, sure.

I'm not paying to heat the pool the last week of April/first week of May! Definitely wouldn't do it in the middle of summer!

We stayed last August at Windsor Hills and did not pay for pool heat. Halfway through our stay, whoever cleans the pool must have accidentally turned it on and we came home from the parks to swim and it was literally a jacuzzi! You definitely do not need pool heat in August.

According to the wunderground.com trip planner, the average temperature in August is in the low 80's with very high humidity. Even if the pool was completely shielded from the sun, it would still be at least 80 degrees.

No -- unless you want to boil supper in it! Even in New Hampshire our pool water is comfortable (low 80's) in August.

I always turn my pool heat on in May, I like the pool warm, and hate a cold pool, especially in the evenings. It may not come on during the day, but at night, it's awesome to sit in a warm pool! It does depend on the weather, you can get a spell where it's in the 90s consistently and you really might not need it, then, it can also be cooler, especially at night. Early - late May is a big difference as well.

We went begining of May 08, didn't heat the pool and our teeth were chattering the entire time we swam...and it was in the 80's all week. We went second week of June 09. Heated it this time and it was still a bit on the cool side. We like a nice warm pool.

No, not in August. Also, been there in March and didn't need pool heat. We had temps. in the 90's that year for Spring Break!!
