Ok, Ok so they(wife and daughter) know about the upcoming trip in october, as they were in the room when i booked the bounceback. What they do know is that i booked the CBR, but plans have changed...LOL. Being a man i realized that if i stayed at a deluxe i would save much more money... (i would spend more) versus the moderate...LOL. So i went and booked the Poly for our trip. Now here is the cunundrum... I called out to my wife and said with a very large smile honey i booked the Poly, and to which she replied..." oh great she(daughter) will LOVE Pop Century... and that we will have a great time". So i just sat there, smiled and said "we sure will"!! LOL. So do i tell her that we are staying at the Poly or do i just "accidentally" get on the "wrong" bus at the airport....LOL. or if i rent a car do i pretend to have a lunch reservation at ohana's and use that as a reason to pull into the parking lot? i am trying to be tricky... and i am tricky... they never know what is gonna happen when we go to the world cuz i always have something up my sleeve......LOL!!!

First of all CONGRATS on keeping the secret this long! Maybe you could tell your wife you are going to give your daughter some "clues" leading up to the trip, or even given them to her on the plane. The idea is that the first clues point toward tropical (which could mean that you are back at CBR) and then the final clue is something with Stitch. Your wife slowly realizes that the clues for your daughter are not in sync with what she thinks she knows!
I do like the idea of getting on the wrong bus and ending up at Poly. Probably best way to accomplish that would be to have them stay put in the airport lobby while you find someone to help direct you to the "right" bus line. You might need an additional backstop story, like the bus stops at Poly and then goes on to PoP?
Good Luck. You sound like a fun and creative person, can't wait to hear what you dream up!

You told her Poly and she thought you said Pop? Or she's in on the plan and your DD was in the background?

I'm confused!

i told her poly and she heard pop... my daughter was in the other room... and didn't hear, but since my wife misheard me i figured i should try and keep the "scam" going....LOL

The way I read it was Wife thought He said PoP (so she thinks they are staying at PoP) but daughter still thinks they are at CBR! But really they are staying at Poly heehee, I love it.

I love your "scam"..they are both going to be so surprised! I like the idea of saying you are hitching a ride on the Poly bus to eat at O'hanas and then hit the MK. What a super suprise!

I agree!!! Then when you get there (bags in tow) head to the front desk to "ask where you can store your bags while at O'hana"...and Dog Gone, look at THIS! There seems to be a ressie, just for US!!! LOL!!! How great! What a wonderful trip this will be!!! Can't wait to hear how it plays out!!:woohoo::cheer2::woohoo:

I'd say you have reservations at Poly, because unless your wife is really oblivious, I think she's going to know that you're getting on the bus for Poly and not Pop, and that there is a difference. I think it'll be a great surprise and so exciting for them. Have fun!!

I would let it be a surprise.

Birdsboro, you sound like a good canidate for the Dis Dads Club. If you get a chance stop by the thread and check it out.

How about slipping the CM at the check in desk for ME a note saying we are staying at the Poly, but it's a surprise (along with your other documents). Then the CM would hopefully play along with what you say as to why you are lining up for the Poly bus.

Maybe ask if you can store your bags at the Poly while you eat at 'Ohana. Your wife might still catch on if you are going during free dining as you would want your KTTW card before paying for the meal.

There are really men out there that get into this planning stuff and surprises and stuff? Can I give you my husband's phone number?????:)

sounds like a great surprise!

I would ask myself this question "Does my wife LIKE suprises?" and make your plans accordingly.

Hmmm ... have you stayed at the Poly or Pop before? Is the Poly a dream resort for your family? How old is your daughter, and is she getting excited about CBR or Pop?

I'm asking b/c my DD7 was kind of upset when she found out we had upgraded our resort from Pop Century to the Boardwalk last year. I mean, she was really disappointed that we weren't staying at POP. And, I don't mean that to say that she was being ungrateful or anything ... she was just really looking forward to Pop and moving to the Boardwalk was definately not an upgrade in her mind. After we told DD7 about the resort change, she dubbed our new resort "The Boringwalk Hotel". And, you know, to a kid, the pictures of the Boardwalk do look pretty boring compared to Pop. I think she might have actually cried if I had just sprung her with the Boardwalk instead of Pop on arrival day.

I wouldn't say its a dream or anything, but my daughter is very fond of the
"monitor"rail...LOL and to think that we would be staying at a monorail resort would be cool for her, not to mention for mom and dad.. and the memories of watching wishes on the beach. But especially for me will be the look on my wife's face when we check in...lol. we have only stayed at the mods so far and the girl enjoyed those...

Consider that your ME luggage tags will have Poly on them instead of Pop (or CBR), so factor that into your plan! Maybe claim your luggage instead of checking it through to the resort?

I would love a disney upgrade surprise, and the POLY is my favorite! Keep it secret as long as you are able!:lovestruc

Ooohhh, good point...I've been folowing along and am SO excited for your family!!! This is so fun, being let in on a secret!!! hehehe:yay::yay::yay:

I would worry about it in this situation. I don't like surprises...but this is more along the lines of getting an upgrade.

I wouldn't say a darn thing!
