On the 6th day of Christmas, Walt Disney gave to me....
6 Epcot "Santas"
5 million dancing lights
4 parks one world
3 season passes
2 1/2 hr drive
and a room at the Wilderness Lodge
So after seeing the beautiful lights at DHS on Friday night, it was back to bed and up early the next day. After all....
There's no sleeping at Disney!!!!
We made it into Epcot just minutes after park opening and got the obligatory Soarin FPs, grabbed a muffin in Sunshine Seasons, then waited 10 minutes standby for Test Track.
We hit a couple of other attractions, too, but my main objective today was to explore Christmas around the World.....
And so we began.
As we wandered into France we saw Pier Noel speaking to a group. He was so beautiful and told a wonderful tale..... even Ally was paying attention!!!
Then we saw HER!!!
The elusive MARIE!!!!
She has her very own page in the autograph book, and though I've heard of her being out in France, I had never seen her!!!
Right before we walked up to Marie, her tail, er, um.... fell off. Yup. Just came right off.
Now I am not a cat person. But I would never pull off a cat's tail!!! But apparently the little girl in front of us needs to stick with dogs. Or something like that.
But to see Ally's eyes.
"Mommy, do you see that?"
"See what?" Playing dumb so the magic continues.....
"Her tail fell off."
"Hmmm...." I'm full of maternal wisdom.....
"How did that happen?"
"I don't know" More maternal wisdom......
So when Ally left Marie a few minutes later, she was very concerned about her because she saw her leave with her handler immediately after Ally left. Of course we all knew where she was going.....
The vet!!!!
Duh!
We began our trek back around the world, and stopped to hear the Daruma Street Vendor tell her tale of the, well, it was some tale.....
OK, OK, so we didn't really stop and listen to this one.....
Then we passed by the Monkey King in China, telling his tale of.... again, not so much.
There! THAT was his tale!
But you'd better believe I was listening when Jeff made THIS suggestion!!!
Nothin better!
By now it was about time to head over to MK for our late afternoon ADR at Cindy's place. You know Cindy. Maid turned princess? You might know her as Cinderella, but Cindy and I go way back......
Anywho.... we monorailed over to MK early afternoon and headed straight for Space Mtn. No dice. FPs were for very late in the day, but we knew we could get it in the next day. Cause we're good like that!
But after a few attractions, it was time for our ADR at Cindy's - our FIRST time dining in the castle......
And also the first of my "almost" rumbles.....
This trip, for some reason, was filled with a lot of rude, pushy, non-magical people. I don't know what the problem was. I mean, Christmas and Disney TOGETHER - who can lose the magic with that combination, right?
WRONG!
As I stood in line at the podium to check in at the castle, and entire family of about 8 gets in line behind me. Next thing you know, a couple of them have moved in FRONT of me. What, you say?
So I very politely said, "the line is back here." To which they very politely.... ignored me!
Jeff was standing off to the side and he just shrugged his shoulders. But we were checking in about 15 minutes early anyway, so no big whoop.
But when they immediately escorted us through the doors.....EARLY, I turned around, stuck out my tongue, and spanked my butt as I then cut in FRONT of the rude family!
OK, so not really. But I wanted to!!!!
Ally had very carefully picked out her outfit for today, and made sure it had sparkles..... after all, we ARE the McSparklesons! And we're off to dine in the castle, so of COURSE we must have sparkles!!!
My absolutel favorite part of dining in the castle is the staircase going up. It goes round and round and round.... it's so regal!!
When we entered the dining room, I finally understood why ADRs are so hard to come by! I think it only seats 8 people, give or take. OK, give..... but not many at all!
It is a TINY dining room!!!
We were seated right down the steps from the podium at a half booth (meaning it was a booth on one side and chairs on the other). So I had a great view of the entire dining room.
Now is where I must make a confession. I am a Disney geek. I'm a planner. I'm an uber planner.
But I made an uber ****oo.
I thought dinner was a character meal. I was waiting for Cinderella and all the other floozies to show up in their shimmery gowns to entice my studly hubby.
Ally immediately asked me where all the princesses were. I told her they'd be out soon.
Until our server corrected me. SLAP!!!
We would be greeted by the Fairy Godmother and a couple of rodents, namely Suzy and Perla. WHAT?????
I am the Disney Queen!!! Who changed the rules on me??????
OK, OK, I messed up......
We ordered quickly and for an appetizer I selected the Salmon Crab Cakes. So which is it? Salmon or Crab? It was salmon. So basically I got a salmon patty.....
Jeff got the BLT salad and Ally had the chicken noodle soup.
Nobody complained which was a good sign. Considering I had heard bad reviews of the food, but I just HAD to eat in the castle!!!
For an entree Ally had the Chicken Tenders with Mashed Potatoes, green beans and carrots.
Jeff had the Roasted Prime Rib of Beef with Grilled asparagus, Gratin potatoes & a Cabernet sauce and actually complimented it. I think he was pleasantly surprised. It was not the most attractive piece of meat, but he was shocked that it was cooked just the way he ordered it.... med rare.....
I ordered the Roast Lamb Chops with roasted Fingerling potatoes, vegetable ragout, and drizzled with a herb pesto and while I wasn't blown away, it was very good.
For dessert Ally had a sundae....
And Jeff and I each had Chocolate Cream Cheese Buckle which was absolutely sinful!!!!
Of course I left one bite on my plate... cause we all know that all the calories are in that last bite....
I would have loved to have a glass of wine with this meal, but we all know there is no alcohol served in Magic Kingdom. Or is there????
It just so happens that Jeff discovered a way to get a glass of champagne in MK..... GET ENGAGED in the Castle!!!
Just like the couple next to us.....
Of course I missed the whole thing because I was, er, um, otherwise indisposed...... For a long time. Something did NOT agree with my tummy!!!
And now the moment you have all been waiting for. A bit of toilet humor. Cause we have all been there.....
I make my way down the round and round staircase to the ladies room. And there are two doors. Into the first door is a lounge area, with baby changer, etc. Then through the next door are the "facilities."
And I was all alone. Sometimes its good to be alone.
Then I heard the outside door. I waited. Quietly. Nobody entered through the second door. But I heard voices.
Ahhh, a mother changing a baby.
But what's that? Another voice with her. Sounded like a boy of about 7 or 8. And he made a very grave mistake.
He opened the second door......
And abruptly shut it and backed out, but before the door closed, I heard, "OMG!!!! MOM!!!!!!"
I was laughing out loud, despite my obvious discomfort, and obviously discomfort to others, too.....
So I made my way up the round and round staircase, back to our table, only to see at the table next to us....
TWO GLASSES OF CHAMPAGNE!!!!
Jeff told me of the engagement that I missed, and our server came by at that time. Jeff complimented her on the way she dropped off the glass slipper with the ring and then immediately slid away. So we chatted with her for a few moments.
Server: "I get so stressed out when I have a proposal."
Kara: "I have a friend who got engaged here."
Server: "REALLY??? "
Kara: "Yeah. They were divorced after a year."
True story!!!! Although Jeff felt my timing was a bit off with my story.
So then he looked over at the table and whispered, "I think I know how we can get something to drink......"
What? Get engaged again?
To which he said, "yeah, you're right, it was painful enough the first time!"
Sorry girls! He's all mine!!! What a romantic!
Despite the fact there were no princesses, we all had a good time anyway...
Again on the round and round staircase....
Up next, my tour of the restrooms in Adventureland.......
