"This Isn't Disneyworld. . .It's Rainworld!!" our trip to WDW May 16-23, 2009

Becky, fabulous updates! I too can totally relate to the sadness and the range of emotions that you go through on that last full day! It's just over all too quick! And I'm sure with all that rain you guys had, you were lamenting a little on some of that as well!

Fabulous pictures and great stories to go along with them! :goodvibes

That's one FABULOUS towel animal!!! :thumbsup2

Becky

I had several pages to catch up on and I am loving all the updates. Your present life and your disney trip!!

I am just like you -I always cry all the time the last couple of times and that is when I begin planning the next trip! Luckily DH is exactly the same and knows that every other year we will be headed to WDW !!! Can't wait to hear about your last day and then follow you on your new PTR. I'm not going again until August but it will be 3 weeks at the GF so i am super excited. I have already started my PTR but don't plan on posting until after Christmas as it still seems so far away xx

What a great last day! It looks like we kept running in to you. That was some rain, wasn't it? We were stuck in the same giftshop as you, believe it or not.
You have some amazing priceless pictures. I love all the pictures from CP. Don't you just hate last nights? It really kicks in once you get home. I think I see my DH in your stroller picture.
Looks like the girls had a great halloween. I love your pink mickey and minnie jacket. Where did you get it? Ally and Claire are too cute in their costumes as well as their Ariel dresses.:lovestruc

Becky wonderful update!!! what a wonderful way to end your trip (even if it did rain) ya'll really hit the jackpot with the character sightings. CP looked like sooo much fun for the girls...and ALL the castle pics are FABULOUS!!!!!

I had tears just streaming down my face as we rode this ride one last time. I tried to turn my head so I wouldn't upset the girls. They didn't notice but Brent did. He put his arm on mine as if to say, "It's ok. I understand."

It made me tear up just reading your story!

Aaahhh, you booked your next Disney Vacation? Aaahhh, :jumping1: So, exciting!!!!!!!! I also love your last update. Sounds like a magical evening.

Great updates, Becky!

Thank you!! :goodvibes

Becky,

thank you for all the wonderful updates and beautiful pictures :goodvibes

I am so glad you took the time to meet and greet all those characters and the rain did not overaly spoil all your fun! I just love the characters and especially when the kids are little it is so great to experience that wonderful magic!

Your pictures brought me back down memory lane of some of our favorite character experiences too...w/ many of those same fun guys too. And I really think your Wendy was the same one we saw in 2005. She is so pretty!

it is great how much fun Claire had too w/ Pooh and Friends. We loved that buffet too. Glad you could take your time and get some wonderful family shots too!

I love the family shots in front of the castle at night all up in pink...:wizard:

sounds like you had a wonderful full day at MK! We rode the boat home once from MK too to the Poly...yes it was a long slow line, but it was a nice ride. it was probably best to take the sleeping girls on the monorail though as you get push a stroller on those small boats.

I understnad those last day tears...and it probably wans't just that it was the last night but all the wonderful memories you had made so far that week were just pouring out

Looking forward to hearing about the last park choice and what you did! popcorn::

and that towel man was HUGE :thumbsup2

J-

Thanks for all of the comments, Julie!! We did have a wonderful time even with all of the rain! And we DID get to meet a lot of characters!!

Thanks Sara!! Yes, you're exactly right--not only was I sad that we were leaving but I was sooo disappointed in what we missed due to all of the rain.

That rain was INSANE!!! You were stuck in the same shop?! How funny! I DO hate last nights--they are no fun! Really?! You see your dh in my pic?! I'll have to go back and look at that pic!! I got my pink hoodie at the Disney Store just last week!! It was on sale for $19.99. They have them online, too!

Awwww!! I'm sorry I made you cry!!

YES!!! I booked this afternoon!! Whoo hoo!! Thanks!! It WAS a magical evening!! :wizard:

For those of you who didn't see the news on FB---We booked our May trip today!!! :cool1::dance3::cool1: We're staying at the Polynesian again and will be there May 22-29th!!! Whoo hoo!! My parents and brother will be joining us this time!! My parents haven't been since '83 and my brother (27) has NEVER been!!! Our ADR date is Nov. 23rd!! This is what we have down for meals so far:

1) Akershus breakfast in Norway
2) Le Cellier dinner
3) Crystal Palace dinner
4) 1900 Park Fare dinner
5) O'hana dinner

Those are the definites!! So help me choose 2 more!! We're considering the Fantasmic package at Mama Melrose, 1900 Park Fare breakfast (Alice, Mary Poppins, Mad Hatter, etc.), Boma, Whispering Canyon, etc. Any other ideas/suggestions?! We're going to do AK 1 day, HS 1 day, Epcot 2 days, and MK 2.5 days.

I was a little disappointed when my TA said that the Flower & Garden Festival will be ending on May 16th--so we will miss that. However SWW will start on May 21st so we'll get to see that again.

I am SO EXCITED for you Becky! I can't believe your Mom & Dad haven't been since the 80's and your brother has never been! This is going to be a GREAT trip! Can't wait for you to start you PTR!!;)

Loved Fantasmic...have you ever seen it? We really like it and the boys did too, we've taken them twice and always do it on our last night.....just cause i feel like it's too sad to do MK the last night and it's a way to go out with a bang cause you get to see all the characters one last time....:cloud9:

Thanks Kristen!! I'm VERY excited about going back!! I will start my PTR as soon as I finish this TR! I have never seen Fantasmic. We stood in line for over an hour in the pouring rain on our last trip and it was cancelled at the last minute. So I'm really hoping we get to see it on this next trip!

This is what I'm looking at in terms of park days (not totally certain about ADR days):

Saturday, May 22: no park--Downtown Disney, relax, watch Wishes from Poly beach
Sunday, May 23: Hollywood Studios (Fantasmic dinner package at Mama Melrose ???)
Monday, May 24: Magic Kingdom (BBB appt. for Ally/1900 Park Fare dinner)
Tuesday, May 25: Animal Kingdom (O'hana dinner)
Wednesday, May 26: Epcot (Akershus breakfast)
Thursday, May 27: Magic Kingdom (Crystal Palace dinner)
Friday, May 28: Epcot (Le Cellier dinner)
Saturday, May 29: Magic Kingdom (1900 Park Fare breakfast ???)

Any suggestions about days for the meals? Not sure I'm set on this yet--but pretty sure on park days.

Yeay for the Polynesian again!!! Instead of Boma, have you thought about doing Tusker House or Yak and Yeti at the Animal Kingdom? Also, instead of doing the Fantasmic dinner package, I think it would be fun to do Prime Time or Sci-Fi at DHS. Just a thought or two.

Yay Becky!! So happy that you guys are going back!! Can't wait till you start your PTR :goodvibes

As far as your updates go, LOVE your MK day so far!! So great that all of the characters you set out to see were there! We had to skip Ariel's grotto last time, so I know it will be one of our first stops in January! Looks great.

I wanted to ask you about the Snow White ride. Was it as scary as all the books say it is? That is another one we did not try in fear that it was. Your pics look pretty, though, so fill me in

I can also relate about crying when it is coming to an end. It is SUCH an emotional time...especially with your kids! I will miss your TR so much, but WOOHOO cant wait for your PTR! Hurry and start it ;)

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm still talking to my mom about the last 2 choices. Decisions, decisions!!

Thanks Katie! The Snow White ride was not scary at all to my girls (even Claire wasn't scared). But I know all children are different. My girls are afraid of things like spiders, bugs, etc. not villians in movies. So we stear clear of the bug show in AK!! :) I bet you could find a video of the ride on YouTube and prepare your kiddos if you think that would help. We did that with the Dinosaur ride at AK for Ally and she rode it with no problem!! :thumbsup2

We woke up again bright and early at 6:30 a.m. It was our last day at WDW! :sad1: Our plan was to head to Hollywood Studios for Star Wars Weekend!! There were EMH that morning so the park was opening at 8:00 which worked great for us since we'd have to leave to catch ME back to the airport (we had a 4:50 p.m. direct flight back to Memphis). Brent was excited about SWW--he is a HUGE Star Wars buff (it was the first movie he saw in the theater) and after doing girly princess stuff all week, this was going to be a treat for him!!

So we ate a quick Pop Tart breakfast, made sure everything was packed and ready to go, and we said goodbye to our room at the Poly. We headed over to check in our luggage so they would keep it for us while we went to HS. Then we hopped on a bus to HS. We got there a little after the park opened! Brent was so excited!!

We walked around the left side of the park to Star Tours!

Ally & Brent rode Star Tours one last time and then we looked around at Tatooine Traders. Here's Ally Fett!!

Then we headed over to Muppet*Vision 3D!

heading in to see the show
017.jpg

I was really excited about this show because I used to watch The Muppet Show all the time when I was little. Unfortunately I was not impressed. The preshow was WAY too long--it seemed to last forever! And it was NOT funny. Then during the actual show Brent and I kept looking at each other like, "Really?"--this isn't funny. (sorry to those who love it but it wasn't our cup of tea) This was the only show I had been disappointed with on our trip. There was one good thing about seeing the show--we missed the incredible downpour that happened during the show. And stoller parking for this show is covered so our stroller didn't get wet! By the time we exited the rain had stopped! Thank goodness!!

We decided to walk around and check out all of the extra Star War things that they had setup. We came across this adorable photo-op! It looks like you are an actual toy in it's package!!
018.jpg

Then we came across this Stormtrooper display and Photopass Photographer. Unfortunately when I got home the Photopass site didn't have any Star Wars Weekends add-ons for the pics.

If you remember, Ally was so disappointed that she wasn't able to see the High School Musical Show on Sunday (it had been rained out). So she was hoping to see the show today! And she did!! YAY!

And guess what?!?!? Ally was chosen to dance in the show!!!

Have you thought of O'Hana's for breakfast? We really loved that meal. The atmosphere was super fun, the characters were not rushed at you are staying there so getting there is super easy. It is a meal that Hannah still talks about.

1900 Park Fare we have done for dinner, and my sister in law and her kids like the Mary Poppins meal there too for breakfast.

Good luck and excited to know you are booked and headed back.

After we saw these characters we headed to The Writer's Shop for a snack. Ally and I had chocolate chip cookies and Brent had a frozen coffee drink. I bought 2 sounvenirs here--a huge Cinderella mug that says "Once A Princess, Always A Princess" and a set of magnet clips of Mickey's parts (his head, glove, shoe, and body). I will post pics later in my wrap-up. Then we headed to Hollywood Boulevard to check out the shops there before the Star Wars Parade started. While we were shopping a CM asked Ally if she wanted to send a Magical Message to her favorite Disney character!! Ally chose Ariel of course!! This is what it looked like!
108.jpg

In return, Ally received this certificate!
109.jpg

Then we decided to grab a place to stand for the Star Wars Parade!

And the parade began with Mickey (Luke Skywalker) leading the way!!

We hopped back on the bus and headed back to the Poly to grab a bite to eat before we had to catch the ME. We ate at Captain Cooks for lunch one last time. As we were eating I was trying to find a family to give our 2 leftover MK Fastpasses to (we had only gotten to use 3 the night before in MK). I wanted to spread some Disney Magic before we left. I found a family of 4--a mom and a dad with 2 younger kids (like our family). I went up to them, gave them the FPs, and explained to them what they were. I was so glad I had chosen this family--they had just arrived at the Poly and it made their day!! I also know how helpful FPs can be with younger children.

Then we made a bathroom stop and headed to get our luggage and catch the ME back to the airport. :sad1: It was a quiet trip back--no one was excited about leaving the happiest place on earth. We got to the airport, checked in, and grabbed some Starbucks. We waited at our gate for awhile and then it was time to board the plane back to Memphis. We made in back, grabbed our luggage, and headed home. This is what we saw before we even left the airport (the time stamp on my camera says it was 6:31 p.m.)!

Coming up: trip wrap-up!!

Hi Becky! Great updates! You're moving right along now. I don't know how we missed each other those last couple of days - your last night at Mk we were on the bridge to Tomorrowland and Tink flew over us also. Then we were at DHS on the 23rd and left right as the parade was wrapping up. Great minds think alike I suppose. Can't wait to read your wrap up! :goodvibes

Laura!! Good to see you back on the DIS!! I've missed you!! I hadn't really thought of O'hana for breakfast. The girls aren't really into Lilo & Stitch like they are Alice and Mary Poppins. But I know that Mickey is there, too and the girls LOVE him--definitely something to consider.
