Two Sisters finally get to go to WDW together! - TR has started!

Floss, I think your plan looks great! You ladies are going to have such a fabulous time!!!

Don't stress to much about the hours not being out yet! I'm willing to bet that anyday now their going to release the hours through April! Did you notice that when January hours can out last week MK was missing for the first day or so?! Soooo annoying!!! Don't they know we have plans to make!!??

I'm finally checking in again...sorry I've been away for nearly a month! I can't believe that much time has already flown by.

I'm really enjoying all your PTR updates-and am happy to read that you were able to get something somewhat solid down for plans! They really look great! Lots of AK time. :thumbsup2 And that tour just sounds awesome!!!

I hope you are able to work MK on a day without Spectro in there...otherwise, just go in knowing the crowds might be a bit nutty and go with the flow as much as you can. The knowing before hand what to expect always helps me just relax and enjoy what we are able to do!

Glad you enjoyed the DVD too!!!! :goodvibes Isn't Mickey Mail the best?? :yay:

I think your plans look really good-and you have some really lovely meals planned...:thumbsup2

Btw-I use TourGuide Mike too-and he usually doesn't recomment the EMH park as long as you get to rope drop at the park you are going too ...(I'd be more likely to do an EMH at night...because that is something you can't normally do-like ride EE at night if AK stays open...

Definitely take the taxi...there are some connections that are just too difficult...(especially after a great meal and some wine...;)

Sounds good:thumbsup2

Hello everyone,
Flossbolna is on a business trip and I actually promised to post lots of new things... well, I didn't get around to get it all done and unfortunately I couldn't convince DH to go on a short trip to Disneyland Paris for our anniversary :sad2: maybe next year...
But – I finally got my picture taken and can apply for a new passport. I even got an appointment for friday morning – so no queuing!
I'm actually very happy to have accomplished this task and as I have a fixed date at the registration office I would need a really good excuse to postpone it :thumbsup2
I already had nightmares of haven to cancel the trip because of me being to lazy to apply for the passport in time... :scared1:

Glad to hear you are on top of it all for the Passport! Those appointments and all the paperwork can be a pain, but it's all worth it. :goodvibes

Thanks for keeping everyone entertained here!! :thumbsup2

I did not know that those DLP plans you talked were meant for this upcoming weekend :goodvibes Good luck for next year!!

Yeah for getting that picture!!! Good luck with the appointment tomorrow morning! I am looking forward to a full report on how this fingerprinting works...

:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1: ok, I had not thought about that possibility yet - of course now I am worrying about that they will take ages to make your passport!!!

I just got back from my business trip and will hopefully have more time for replies and updates soon! :thumbsup2 (and also start posting on my subscribed threads as well)

I'm getting caught up on your wonderful plans! :thumbsup2

I've not done the Wild by Design tour yet, but I've heard it's wonderful! :goodvibes

Also, even though Blizzard Beach will be closed, the buses still go there! We always wondered WHY we were going in to a closed park to drop off/pick up...... finally figured that out!! :rotfl: So if mini golf is on your itinerary, you'll be able to get there! ;)

I'm still planning to arrive at AKL on Feb 2nd so I'm hoping a mini-meet is in the cards for us! :goodvibes

Wow, I would love a pin like that! Actually, I guess I would like any pin! :rotfl:

Doesn't it always seem as if everyone else here on the boards gets a pin?? I was just so happy about it because it felt like Disney ackowledged me as a customer... :goodvibes

I got a pin code too... as I sit here at WDW! :rotfl:

Did you use the pin?? I found out that they sent off various different offers to different people. I jsut wonder why they sent me a kids eat and play for free offer if they have in my profile that I don't have any kids??? :confused3

I think your plans look wonderful! You have a bit of everything and it looks like the two of you are going to have a great time.

Fantasmic was playing havoc with my plans too. The only two days that they are running it are my non-park days. I was all set to revamp the schedule, but in the end I decieded to just skip it. I hate to think of how crazy it will make DHS that day. I'm going to really miss it, but am happy with the plans I made instead.

We will have a great time and I am really happy with our plans, haven't had any second thoughts about them so far! :thumbsup2

Brookelizabeth and I met for our mini Dismeet in January at DHS on a Fantasmic day - it was not fun to be in that park that day! At least not for me! It seemed that Brook and Joe still enjoyed the park as I found out in her TR! :goodvibes

My advantage is however, that neither nodnol nor I are show people. We really hated Fantasmic in DL in 1992! Well, we hated Splash Mountain, too, and that's now a favourite attraction of mine. But I saw Fantasmic again in DL in 2005 and while it was ok, I don't really want to bother seeing it. I never saw it at DHS. Nodnol and I are happy to skip it. So this makes touring much easier! Also we don't have any Osbourne Lights to schedule in as well... :goodvibes

We are really happy with our plan, I really love the AK focus at the beginning! AK is the park that got nodnol interested in WDW! :thumbsup2

I really stopped stressing about hours since we finally have a good plan! But I am checking for February hours regularly. There is a trick about getting the hours without any missing parks as early as possible, they load then up as a pdf-file for the travel agents: www.disneytravelagents.com/StaticFiles/DTA-Domestic/pdf/ParkHours/WDW_Operating_Calendar_Feb.pdf

Mickey Mail is wonderful! :cloud9: Unfortunately we won't be getting anymore. Our package will be at the resort waiting for us - my TA lives in Orlando, so it's much easier for her to just drop it off there than mail it to us. And ME doesn't send brochures to international travelers either... :sad1:

We are both really looking forward to AK and the tour. I will write a thorough review of the tour, there are so few out there and I hope it will be worth to make it better known...

I think your plans look really good-and you have some really lovely meals planned...:thumbsup2

Yes, we really are looking forward to our meals! :goodvibes I think we will avoid most EMHs, besides evening EMH at the MK and maybe at AK. But AK is on nodnol's birthday and we will drink tea at the GF at 2 pm and then dinner at Narcoossee's at 7:30 pm (at least that's the plan), so I am not sure wether we will jump back to AK from there, doesn't make a lot of sense, we should rather stay put at the MK or possibly Epcot...

Taking taxis now and then just makes life so much easier!! While spoil a great meal by waiting 20 min for bus to DTD, sitting 20 min on bus to go there (why it takes ages from every resort to get there, I will never understand!!), wait there for another 20 min and then endure another long long long bus ride...

Glad to hear you are on top of it all for the Passport! Those appointments and all the paperwork can be a pain, but it's all worth it. :goodvibes

And I will be all envious when nodnol has a shiny new passport with all the latest technological gadgets... :goodvibes

We really are looking forward to the tour a lot! There aren't a lot of reviews about it to be found, but whatever I read sounded really good!

Are you sure, the busses go to BB? In 2007 when we stayed at AKL, we never stopped there I think, but perhaps I just forgot about it... It's the DHS bus that stops there, isn't it?

Katharina and I are still looking forward to meeting you! I was thinking maybe for a drink at Victoria Falls? Well, we still have more than three months to come up with some ideas! :goodvibes

Last week I mailed our TA with the list of ADRs we want. I decided that it would be best to let her deal with all the 10/27 madness. I found out that the phone line CMs use a system to book ADRs that is not so much in danger of crashing as the website is. So calling might be much more successful than trying it online. :confused3 And my TA just needs to get through once to book all her clients in one call I assumed. So I guess she will be able to start booking quite early while most other people are just scrambling around trying to get through or cursing at a crashing website... :thumbsup2

I have been checking ADR availability for early January for a few days and our meals don't tend to book out even a few days after 90 days became available. I guess we will be fine. But I will most likely check things out online at 8 am on 10/27 which will be 3 am EST on that day (it seems that the difference when Europe and the US change from dailight saving time to real time causes one week of only 5 hours time difference... But perhaps it really is 7 hours difference that week???)

So here is the list of ADR requests that I sent off - I will post results here as soon as I have them!

1/28
10:30 am breakfast at Tusker House

1/29
7:30 pm California Grill

1/30
6 pm Flying Fish

1/31
if we don’t get a late breakfast at Tusker House on 1/28, we would want to try to get an early breakfast at 8 am on this day

also 1/31
5 pm Whispering Canyon Café

2/1
7 pm Boma

2/2
11:30am Sci Fi Dine-In

also 2/2
7:30 pm Artist Point

2/3 (Katharina’s birthday)
2 pm Garden View Tea Room

also 2/3 (Katharina’s birthday)
7:30 pm Narcoossee’s

2/4
7:30 pm Jiko

2/5
9 am Boma

We decided to skip Kona - if we feel like going there for lunch while there, we might try to get an ADR on short notice. And we added Boma for breakfast on our last day... :goodvibes

Looks like a great list! You will love the Garden Tea!

And I love how the two of you chat back and forth on this thread; very cute!

Hello ladies! :) Thank goodness the passport has been requested now! Phew..now just wait for it to arrive. Too funny, I just filled out my renewal and sent it in and mine is in case I need to travel to Germany any time soon! :rotfl2:

I love your dining choices and it'll be interesting to see what happens on 10/27-the perfect storm, right? It might be a good idea for your TA to handle this after all! The tea is on my dream list (too bad I'm the "girlie girl" in my family!) and I can't wait to do it one day. What a great way for your sister to celebrate! :cheer2:

So, we're 6 hours behind you now, however we don't switch again until November and it used to be October not too long after Germany/Europe switched. Yes, it will be off for awhile but this is always the confusing part - it'll be 7 hours if we "fall back", right? I guess that depends on when you guys switch - soon right? TOO CONFUSING!

Keep us posted and have a great weekend!

Heather

I think it's wise to let your TA do the scrambling for ADRs. You don't want that stress.

Thanks for the nice comment! I hope it might get nodnol to post a bit more... :rolleyes1 :goodvibes

Here in Europe you get so used to not needing a passport anymore for travelling abroad. We have identity cards here in Germany and they are good for nearly everywhere in Europe, so life without a passport is possible. But I really like knowing that I have a passport for any surprise trips! I think nodnol's just had run out recently...

All this time change is pretty confusing, but I think it will be 5 hours now and in the spring... We will be switching next weekend, I think you are just one week behind us, and in the spring I think you switch back to summer time earlier than us, so it is always the same difference... Don't know wether this makes any sense?

The tea is just the right event for Katharina's birthday! We have been on a lot of family vacations to England and love going to the lovely tea rooms they have there to have cream tea, a bit like here:

CreamTea.jpg

The picture is from 2008 when we were walking along the Devon coast, it's Katharina's DH, Katharina and our DF. Since it was lunch we had some sandwiches first and the scones with clotted cream afterwards... :cloud9:

I think your list of ADRs look great! All very good choices. :thumbsup2

I think it's wise to let your TA do the scrambling for ADRs. You don't want that stress.

Yes, I am quite relieved that I don't have to worry about it! :goodvibes

Let's travel back in time: Today's update will lead us back to the very beginning in Katharina's and mine Disney history! :earboy2:

And we need to go back quite some years... I guess we need to start somewhere in the 60's before either of us was born yet. It starts with my mothers two older sisters marrying American soldiers stationed in Germany. Therefore - as so many in our generation – we have an aunt in America (or in our case, two aunts).

Getting christmas presents from the US was always such a great treat as kids. I think getting foreign things is always special, but in the 70's and 80's when we grew up consumer products were much less globalized than they used to be. For example there were always sweets in the big boxes my aunts sent, things like m&m's, skittles and such. Nearly everything that was exotic to us then is now available here as well. :confused3

Even more exotic were the rare visits of my aunts to Germany. I still remember how strange it was to meet our cousins without being able to talk to them as they only spoke English and we hadn't learned English in school yet. One year my aunt who lived in the Bay Area in California was visiting us and told us that they had traveled to Disneyland this summer. I think she might have shown us some pictures, but I am not sure. I was a great fan of Disney comics at that time, you could buy small pocket books full with them, and in my imagination Disneyland equalled Duckburg (or Entenhausen as we call it). I thought it must be a wonderful place! :lovestruc I guess I was 8 at that time and my great dream was to travel to California and see Disneyland. :car:

Well, seven years later I got to go to California! :cheer2: I spend three weeks of my summer vacation staying at my aunt's. Originally we had planned to drive down along Highway 1 to Anaheim and see Disneyland, but it did not work out. So we spend a long weekend in Yosemite instead. It was a fantastic trip full of experiences. :thumbsup2

So when Katharina and I embarked on our great trip through the US in 1992, it was agreed that we would stay with my aunt in California for the last two weeks of our time there. And this time we finally got to Disneyland with our aunt and fell in love with it – me more than Katharina, but we both really enjoyed it! :rainbow:

This is one of the pages of the photoalbum I did for Katharina for Christmas one year from all the materials we collected during our trip. The cover is blue and the pages are red and white... I have scanned it all in (thanks to Katharina's DH brining me his scanner! :thumbsup2) and will do a bit of a trip report of our 1992 trip... I hope nodnol will jump in with any additional stories she can share! :thumbsup2 It will be followed by pictures and stories from our Disneyland Paris trips. I hope you will enjoy this! :goodvibes

Your ADR's look great and I love your memories of the US and Disneyland!! Can't wait to read more!!
