BA from Gatwick

Hi everyone, We are thinking of traveling with BA from Gatwick this year and wondered what you all thought of their flights. We usually travel with Virgin or BMI from Manchester.

Are the aircrafts as big as Virgin?

We are thinking of staying over at the Gatwick Hilton. Is this the best/nearest hotel if your flying with BA.

we just got back today after flying club world from gatwick to orlando...

Not sure what class you were thinking of flying but here are my thoughts...

• BA use 777 planes on this route - Virgin currently use 747-400s
• 777 seems a similar size (maybe wider?) than the 747
• 777 is ugly from the outside compared to the iconic 747!
• Seat layout in Virgin Upper is way better than BA club world
• Virgin lounge is way better than BA lounge
• Most BA 777 planes have AVOD (on demand in flight entertainment) - virgins isnt and is patheticly old and unreliable
• BA food is better
• Both have strange idea of priority boarding!
• Virgin use Gatwick south terminal, BA use north terminal
• North terminal has better shops
• South terminal has better car parking
• North terminal seems busier - making fast track security a joke with BA.

overall, we're definitely going back to virgin next time.

We flew to Orlando with BA from the north terminal a few weeks back and stayed at the Sofitel which is linked to the terminal building. The room was very clean and we had a great runway view. We passed on the breakfast as we don't eat much and it was very expensive. It made a much more relaxing start to our holiday and we would definitely stay there again

We're flying BA Club World on Sunday - have always flown VA UC before. Have they got the new Club World cabins on the LGW - MCO route? We thought we'd try BA this time as they had a BOGOF offer and the Virgin clubhouse is closed for refurbishment.
