July 26, 2011 – 7 Night Alaska ~ Bears, Whales, Eagles and Ducks. Oh My!

I just want to say that with the people on board, this is going to be an unbelievable cruise!

It will be interesting to see who else joins on the 28th.

Hey mine was a 2008 booking and didn't have the 50%, that bites.
Has anyone here ever been to Alaska before or been to these ports????
We went in 2007 on the RCCL Radiance. Excellent trip. Perfect weather (no rain). I am expecting this trip to have a lot of rain to balance things out. Same ports - Skagway (White Pass and Yukon Railroad), Juneau (Mendenhall Glacier and Whale Watching) and Ketchikan (Explorer by Land and Sea). We also stopped at Icy Strait Point and saw Hubbard Glacier. We did a pre-night at the Sheraton. No red-eye and no same day flights for us (to many horror stories).

:welcome: to the newcomers! :)

PJ you are hereby appointed our resort coordinator!

I have learned to delegate since 2006. ;)

DL DCA

How was the train tour? This is one that I am very interested in.

Lisa I re-read and it is FROM $99, I am guessing a room in July would be around $149, which isn't so bad from what I am seeing at other close by hotels.

Lollipop mom, who is doing a Vancouver FAQ, said that many of the hotels come up on hotwire, but in the middle of summer, I don't know if I would chance it.

Pj

We will probably stay at least one night prior to the cruise in Vancouver.

I asked about pre-cruise hotels through DCL Here is what I was told for 3 people

Fairmont Vancouver Airport - $249
Fairmont Waterfront Vancouver - $274
Fairmont Pacific Rim Vancouver - $294

I check Fairmont's website and this is agood deal. Their cheapest rooms run around $320 - $370 per night for similar night in 2010.

Although "Starting at $99" is more suited for my pocketbook

Less on hotel more for DCL excursions.:)

Hi everyone hope your all well. About 2 weeks ago I sent an e-mail to a friend that is in Iraq to see if she wanted to go on the Alaska cruise with us. She is a Colonel/major and her DH is up in the ranks also, so she has a better idea on where and when her times end and when they will have off or be.

Anyway, she sent me back an e-mail saying YES they do want to join us. She gave me some dates but will e-mail me back Sunday Night to change those dates to one. However the dates she has picked are not the same as the one I already booked with all of you.

She is trying to see if this date will work for her since I have this one already booked. But if not than I will have to change it. Bummer. Either way I will be up at 5am booking them a cabin. So I may be leaving all of you before we get to know each other.

I will stop in to let you know Monday what has become of me......pirate:

If it would have made a difference in the long run we could have just booked a new ressie to get the 50% deposits and had PJ reshop it on her cruise but not worth it IMO either.

Angie, your original OBB must have been made in 2008 when the 50% was active. Is it from the WBPC repo perhaps?
No OBB for us. This was a new ressie.

We are

Mike (DH - 46)
Robin (Me - 29+)
Matthew (DS - 16)

Hey, Robin!

We have a nest full of robins on this cruise.

I will update the roll call this evening.

Angie you booked a brand new booking right? That would be why you paid only $300/person. The rest of us geeks transferred old onboard bookings, so we are locked into full deposits, but we get obc. $275 will cover tips and the whale watching or train tour I would love to take, hmmmm.

Pj
Yep.

I just understood this, lol. Lesile would want to kill me, lol.

Pj

No, she transferred a booking that had the 50% deposit on it that was made in 2008. Our bookings were done on the 2006 cruise probably and didn't have the 50% deposit so they have to stay that way. DCL is making this the most confusing booking opening EVER!!!

:sad2:
Nope, PJ was right.

We're in!!!!!

Lynnise (36)
Diann (57)
Valecia (34)
Welcome!!!
Count us in too

Bob (DH) 54
Nancy (DW) 49
Shawn (DS1) 21
Robert (DS2) 20
:banana::woohoo:
Im hoping this Hotel COAST COAL HARBOUR, has the same deal in 2011, https://www.coasthotels.com/hotels/...ast_coalharbour/packages_and_specials/pay_now it is 10 mins from the ship.

PJ, is there going to be a website with all this kind of info on it? :rolleyes1

So, reading PJ and Lisa's posts, sounds like we may be able to cancel this and rebook on our TA cruise and get all that Platinum $$. :rolleyes1 Do you think? As long as the price has not gone up too much. Right?

Angie, have PJ reshop it on her cruise in November to get the benefits for you. :) You will be able to keep your room & early dining too. The price may go up too much to make it worth your while to switch it if you wait until the TA and you definitely won't get early dining then.

PJ...um.....can you do this for us? Can she book for us if we are not onboard? I had no idea you could do that! :confused3

She sure can!!! I think that she will be doing this for Brack & Annette too. :) Carla will be on the Wonder that month too. I think the other room needs to be on the same cruise you are...but not sure...just that many have reported being able to do this.

I know not what you say,
