We're back from our trip and had a fabulous time. I know that many of you had questions about the new HOJO pirate kid suites, so here's our take on staying in one.
LOVED having 2 seperate rooms and bathrooms. It's great for both privacy, changing clothes and whatnot, and having two bathrooms was a definite time saver when getting ready in the morning. Two of us could be showering and getting ready at the same time.
YES - the bunk beds are true twin size beds, so for those of you who have teenagers, if they fit in a twin size bed, they will fit in the bunk beds at the HOJO. If they have longer legs and their knees hit the side-rails on the top bunk when lying on their side, then have them either sleep on the bottom bunk or on the twin-size sofa sleeper (or should I say love seat sleeper).
Highway noise - okay, yes, you can hear the traffic on the freeway a bit in your room. It's not horrible, but if you're a light sleeper or someone not used to traffic noise (like me) it could be a problem for you. However, it was HOT when we were there, so we had the AC on all night, which worked out nice because the AC fan worked like a white noise machine, so I really couldn't hear the traffic noise much at all. So here's a good piece of advice for you.......run the air in the room at night (doesn't matter if it's the AC, heat, or just the fan, as long as the fan is running it will drown out the traffic noise), or bring your own white noise machine from home. I'm a light sleeper, but I didn't have any problems sleeping at all.
Beds - The king pillow top bed, pillows and comforter can be summed up in one word - WONDERFUL! I truly love the new beds, new pillows, and the new comforters at the HOJO. It's like you're wrapped up in softness and comfort. I wish I could describe how nice they are in better terms, but man oh man......just heavenly!
Pirate decor - okay, the decor is not really overly piratey. In other words, the rooms aren't nearly as thoroughly themed as say what you would find at a Disneyworld Resort hotel. But that said, the new kid suites at the HOJO are really cute. I actually love the colors and patterns.....it's makes the rooms so light, bright, and cheerful. The Pirates of the Caribbean pictures around the rooms are actually pretty cool (our boys really like them and recognized scenes from the actual ride) and the wall lights look like they are filled with sand, which I thought was neat looking.
Castaway Cove - Our kids really enjoyed it and had a great time, and it was nice for DH and I to relax and get off our feet for a bit while the kids could run off some more steam. We watched the fireworks from the hot tub two nights during our trip, and the view is great!
Garden Pool - We also enjoyed swimming in the garden pool. It's a nice size pool in a pretty area of the property, and it was definitely refreshing because it was just so darn hot and humid when we were there.
Here are a few pictures of our room, decor, and view.
Bunk bed (Yes, they are actual twin size beds.)
Love seat/living area (kids side of the suite).
Close up of wall light on kids side of suite (looks like sand).
Walking from kids side of suite into the parent/adult side of the suite.
