In mid-February we make our second Disney trip with our first in June 2008 at the Swan. We have two girls (9,7) and have read alot of positive feedback about POFQ. If anyone has stayed at the Swan, could you let me know what we will enjoy more about POFQ vs Swan. Aslo, I know there has been alot of discussion on room requests, but if we want some peace but close access to all amenities what would be the best building to request. Finally how is the park in mid February as far as crowds. Thank you

Andre, I just wanted to thank you for this wonderful thread. We will be @ POFQ on the 18th and we cannot wait! This will be our 3rd time at this beautiful resort, but the very 1st time we have gone to WDW just the 2 of us. We consider POFQ our own little DVC..we feel like it's our Disney home away from home. I do have a question. My 2 sisters will be vacationing @ the same time as us. One staying a POFQ, too...one staying @ Pop Century. We want to see the entertainment,is it Elliot(?), and have a few drinks sans our hubbys and in their cases their kids. What nights does he play, what time and what would be the best way for the sister staying@ the Pop to get back to her resort? I think this would be fun if we can do it. I've even ordered t-shirts that say " What happens with the sisters, stays with the sisters! "

this looks like a good resort, I've stayed at Beach Club and thank you for all the info here!

Thanks for the compliments, glad you like this thread. My website should have most of the info you need, but Elliot (like Bob at POR) usually plays Wed-Sat from about 8.30pm to around midnight. To get back to Pop, if the boats are still running (up to about 11pm) she could get the last boat to DTD and then a bus back to Pop. Otherwise, get a bus to DTD then bus to Pop. Or just get a taxi if she doesn't want the hassle.

Andre

Thanks Andre for the information about Elliot and a way to get my sister back to Pop Century. One week from tomorrow we will BE THERE!!!!! :cool1:Can't wait!
Andre, you rock!:worship:

What a great thread!! We will be staying at POFQ for the first time in October and I have had my doubts whether this was the right resort for us. We have stayed at the deluxe resorts a number of times (years ago when the economy was better) and have also stayed at CBR and CSR but thought we'd try someplace different. Couldn't decide between Riverside and French Quarter but finally decided on FQ because of the smaller size. This is a surprise trip for my husbands 60th birthday and our two daughters will be joining us so I was a little concerned about the smaller rooms but just couldn't swing the price of the deluxe resorts. Your wonderful info has convinced me that I made the right choice.

Thank you Andre for the lovely info about POFQ and I can't wait to stay in for my birthday on January 14, 2010! And thank alot Andre! Andre you're awesome!

I have a medical condition that requires me to raise the head of my bed.

I have small blocks that I can slide under the foot of a bed frame but I can't tell by any pictures if the beds are on bed frames or box frames.

If they are on box frames can the ply wood be lifted? Or is it nailed down?

Thank you in advance to anyone that can answer this for me.

Might be best to call Disney resort Special needs - they can help with medical needs and would know how to arrange this for you, if possible

Have your reservation number handy: 407-939-7807 #1

Hope this helps! :goodvibes

We will be checking in to POFQ on Friday. I can't wait. I have never stayed at this resort (only POR) and I am looking forward to the smaller resort especially after staying at Caribbean Beach in December.

I liked CBR a lot, we did spring for a preferred room though. I have to say that I was happy when my family wanted POFQ on our last trip, they were looking at CSR but i really find that the size and the theme of POFQ suits me. I can honestly say that while I love the convenience of the monorail and love AKL, I do nto feel that I am deprived at POFQ.

Does anyone know the hours of operation for the laundry room at POFQ? I think I will have to do laundry sometime during my trip:laundy:.

We have requested building 4 at POFQ. I read that this used to be one of the smoking buildings. DH and I are extremely sensitive to smoke and this would just kill us with sinus headaches...

I am aware that a no smoking policy has been in place since 2007, but the rooms were remodeled earlier (Reopened March 2004) and smoke is really hard to "get out" of the fabrics and carpets.

So have any Building 4 People noticed a smokey smell? :scared1:

Also what room numbers do you recommend and why? :thumbsup2

Thanks for the help, :grouphug:

 Not all of bldg 4 was smoking - we stayed in bldg 4 in 2002, 2005 and 2006 and never any smoke smell at all. I have severe asthma, so it would have been an issue for me. Not to worry - enjoy looking forward to your stay! :goodvibes

I might be wrong on this but it seems to me I used my room key (KTTW card) to open the door to the laundry facility. So I'm not sure there are actually hours. One word of advice -- carefully choose your dryer. Some of them had gummy candy stuck inside that I'm sure could transfer to your own clothes. It took me a good bit of time to find a dryer that didn't have anything questionable in it. Have a great trip!
