I plan to do my PTR and TR in list format of "15 things....xyz" Hence the title. I guess that was obvious already and didn't need pointing out. How's THAT for writing skills. Apparently I spent more time looking out the window during English Comp than actually paying attention.:rolleyes1

The Cast:
Me. (Again, DUH. Like I'd type a PTR if I wasn't even going on the trip.) Age: 20-something.
WDW History: We went one time, for one day when I was a baby. I wasn't even a year old yet. So basically, I've never been.

DH. Age: Also 20-something.
WDW History: Went as a 9yr old and again as a teenager.

DS. Age: 6
WDW History: Has never been

DS. Baby
He actually died this June, I was 9 mos preggo and fine and all of a sudden, he was gone. We've been planning this trip for awhile and always assumed he'd be with us. He won't be with us physically, but he will be in our hearts on the trip so I am mentioning him here. :flower3:

Details: Leaving Oct 17, 2009 (that is NEXT MONTH people!:woohoo:) to stay 6 nights in Pop Century. Vising MK and Epcot. Skipping the other parks and hope to do them on future trips.

But really, up next: 15 Things I Want to Waste Money On

First off, I'm very sorry for your loss. :sad1: I hope your family is doing well.

Your six year old is going to love Disney!!! There is just so much for him to enjoy!!!

Ok - I've been to Disney over 30 times and I have never heard of a - Orange Dole Whip Float. Where does one acquire such things????????

You have me hooked... maybe your can teach me more. :thumbsup2

One more thing... was there a "Chip" in Sleeping Beauty too? Or do you mean 'Beauty and the Beast'?

-nat

I'm so sorry for the loss of your little boy.

Your format is very clever; look forward to reading more.

Thank you, and we are hanging in there. Some days are harder than others. At the risk of getting too religious and breaking some dis rule, I will just simply say we have faith we'll see our baby again. But it is very hard to live without him on earth.

Also, I am a total dork, I totally was THINKING "Beauty and the Beast" but my fingers typed the wrong thing. Will have to go back and edit that!

And I saw people on the dis here talk about getting orange flavored dole whips, which sounds good so I'm going to try to find one!

Thanks for reading.:goodvibes

I like your trip report format! Your family is going to have a great time. What about Tonga Toast for things to eat? I keep hearing about it, but haven't tried that myself yet. Maybe I need to make a "15 Things" list for our trip, too! :thumbsup2

You're off to a great start and it's clear you've done your homework! Can't wait to read your posts...subscribing!

15 Things I Want to Waste Money On:
1. The mickey hand oven mitt. Have you seen it?! OH my gosh it is so cute!
2. MNSSHP tickets (already bought!)
3. Photopass preordered CD
4. Paying extra for the photos they take at our character meals (as long as they are halfway decent)
5. T-Rex "build-a-dino"
6. Dipped pretzels at Goofy's. Yes I know, no longer a SC for the toppings. But screw that. I want 3 dipped in milk chocolate, butterfingers, oreos, and pecans. We'll just go OOP for that.
7. Notepads.
8. Pens. (I'm a sucker for stationary stuff)
9. Tshirts and Sweatshirts
10. GForce *ANYTHING* for our son for Christmas
11. Pajamas!
12. Halloween and Christmas Decorations
13. Antenna toppers
14. Flags/statues/etc for the lawn/garden
15. Mickey ears for all of us (even our littlest baby who passed away) with our names on the back!!

Also, I realized I didn't include the ADR's previously so here is where we're going:
We're on QSDP and are paying out of pocket to do just a few character meals:
Garden Grill-Dinner
Chef Mickeys-Dinner
Ohana-Breakfast

Up Next: 15 Things I Would Totally Have Screwed up if not for the Dis....:rolleyes1

I'm so sorry for your loss! I pray that you will continue to heal.

Your format is very clever! I love it!

I've never head of the orange dole whip either......sounds good!
When did they take the "toppings" off of the snack credit for Goofy's candy co? We were there in feb and were able to use it.

I too, am sorry for your loss, and hope your faith keeps you strong.

I love the way you're doing your ptr, with the 15 things list, very clever.

I've never seen an orange dole whip, but there is (or was) a frozen orange juice/vanilla ice cream swirl available at the Sunshine Tree Terrace. It was very, very yummy, I just don't know if it's still there. That might be what you're thinking of.

Awww, I'm so sorry for the loss of your son. We are going to Disney in December in memory of my Dad. Maybe we should start a "Healing" thread. I think there are a lot of us trying to find some healing at Disney.

I'm subscribing and can't wait to follow along your journey.

I cannot wait to hear more about your trip. You are going to have a blast. I think it is wonderful that you are keeping the memory of your DS alive, he will always be with you.

Thank you, and yes I think that Orange Swirl thing is what I am thinking of.

As far as the toppings, it has been since free dining started. The mickey heads with lots of toppings are gone (you can get one predipped, but can not choose lots of toppings), same with pretzel rods, and there is some indication that the big oreo cookie thing may also not be included anymore.

Thanks everyone for reading so far! Yes, we really miss our baby boy. I made some little cards that say "This small act of kindness was done for you in loving memory of our baby boy XYZ. May the God who comforts us also be near to you."

I plan on giving them out along with any pixie dust I spread...like if we give away our Planet Hollywood voucher, I'll give a card and the voucher to whoever we give it to. Plus at the TRex restaurant I want to get a gift card and pay for another little boy to get to Build-A-Dino, so we'll give them a card too, etc.

That way more people hear about our son and know he lived, if even for a short while. :)

Hi,
I hope your trip will give you some happy memories.
I'm sorry for your loss too.

School bread-make sure you have milk or juice, it is very dry.
I have the Mickey oven mitt. I smile everytime I use it.
You better bring an extra suitcase for all the souveneirs.

Thanks, good tip on the school bread!
Glad you like the oven mitt too, and yes, we're bringing an extra empty suitcase. :hippie:

15 Things I Would Have Totally Screwed Up If Not For The DIS: :rolleyes1

1. ADRs. Oh, what's that? You have to actually make reservations or else risk getting NO ts meals? Whoo. Glad I learned that!

2. FastPass. Had NO idea what it was.

3. FastPass being able to be used AFTER the return time window.

4. Pop Century. We were going to just stay at an All Star until I read all the rave reviews about Pop and learned it is also a Value!

5. Free Dining. Thanks to the Dis, I was able to use a public code and get FD. :wizard:

6. I would have stood outside Pop for an hour waiting for a bus to take me to Polynesian.:headache: But thanks to the Dis, I learned that busses don't GO from resort to resort!

7. The only thing we would have used snack credits for would have been popcorn and soda. But thanks to the Dis, now I can try schoolbread, some F&W carts, figaro fries, possibly a funnel cake, maybe some rice krispies or dipped pretzels, dole whips, and basically, more than just this:popcorn::

8. Pressed Pennies. NO IDEA they even existed!

9. Autograph books-use a retractable sharpie. :thumbsup2

10. Fridge swaps. Just got in on one. Thankyouthankyouthankyou. :yay:

11. Magical Express. Again, I would have prob just shown up waiting for the bus, w/o ever having ordered the luggage tags.

12. Flash photography. Seriously, I didn't know you weren't supposed to do it places. Now I promise to look for the signs and be on my very best behavior.

13. Adventureland opens later than the rest of the park (often). Phew. Good to know that ahead of time.

14. CRT. Now this year we aren't doing it (DS is not that into princesses). BUT for the future if we have daughters, now I know you have GOT to be on the phone before 7am on your day to call and make ressies). :bride:

15. Last but not least, I know to never, ever bring up tipping on these boards. Or refillable mugs. Or pool hopping. Or Brazilian tour groups. :rotfl2:

Love the dis!! See how lost I would have been without you all?!

Loving what you've written so far! Sorry to hear about your loss. 9 months is a long time to go for that to happen. Once again, I am so sorry.

I have to agree on many of the things you listed to "waste money on". I would love to pre-order the Photopass CD. I heard it's cheaper but have no idea where I go to pre-order it :confused3 Any ideas?

For my trip in November, I definitely have to get some dipped pretzels at Goofy's Candy Co. Everyone is talking about them here on the DIS!!! And every picture I've seen, they look absolutely delicious!

And it's so true about all the things you learn about on the DIS. Originally I thought I knew all there is to know about Disney but BOY OH BOY was I wrong!!! No matter what your question is, someone on the boards is bound to have an answer. Not to mention the DISUnplugged podcast. I've only recently started listening to it but boy, it's filled with good tips and news happenings as well.

Look forward to reading more! Perhaps you could take a gander at my PTR as well? It's been pretty lonesome over there. Not sure what I've been doing wrong to scare everyone away? Maybe it's the whole "I am Canadian" thing? :lmao:
