09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 2!

Now I know we are all very excited for this upcoming cruise but......

Does anyone have any thoughts on the dates for the 2010 Member Cruise?

I was looking at the 2010 dates listed for the 4 night cruises in September and October and I do not see any open dates where the SSMC10 would fit in.

I then looked at the 7 nights and (if I figured it out correctly) the Magic will not return until Oct 1 from the European tour. After that the next 7 night cruise is 10/16?

Not sure if they would need that time to maintenance the ship or if maybe just maybe there would be a 7 night for DVC. :worship:

Since this is my first cruise EVER I am not sure how the schedule usually works. I'm pretty sure that the Member Cruises have always been in Sept/Oct time frame.

Any thoughts, speculations??? Figured I would get some ideas flowing here.
9/12 - 9/16/2010. The Wonder sails for 3 nights on 9/9 and then nothing until 9/16.

We are sitting here watching Bill Engvall (sp) on the Comedy Channel just laughing our behinds off. I love him. He is so funny. I would love to go see him live.

Here's your sign!

I have to admit those guys crack me up :lmao: .

Sounds like me! DH has all of his stuff ready to go. I still have to go shopping for a few things to wear for this trip. I'm still not sure what I can wear on my feet since they swell a lot and can't wear tongs that go between the big toe and next one. I guess I'll try crocs. Are these good enough in the restaurants? I don't want to go to dinner in my sneakers!

Thanks for such a quick response. I have tried several clogs in my closet and can't where any of them. :rolleyes1

Annmarie

I've had several sandals that I absolutely love but with what's going on, I can't have something betweek my toes and I'm not sure I'll do with something going across the top. I even have a lot of those too! What a pain!

Everyone seems to have their own particular comfortable shoe for Disney. I used to wear Crocs when I worked (health unit coordinator at the local hospital), so I know they work; the only problem is they make me too hot in the summer. The last trip we made to WDW I wore Teva Mush flip-flops the whole time and never had a blister or sore feet! And most flip-flops do not work for me. They also have an arch built in, which most do not. Love them! Now, however, after months of pain due to lower back spasms, I have had to buy MBTs (on the recommendation of my doctor), which are mongo expensive. But they work! A day or two of wearing these crazy-looking shoes and my back pain was gone :worship: . So I'll probably be found in my MBTs and my Teva Mush most of the time. It really is an individual thing since everyone's feet are different.

Night all I am going to bed,,,its been a long day. Got a new computer at work, and guess what nothing works right. I can't get on the internet, can't print, some of my programs are missing and they have been working on it for over a month:confused3:confused3

Night:cloud9:

Oh, I just HATE changing computers. It's like going from the most comfortable slippers into new annoying shoes that give you blisters!

Good morning everyone - happy Tuesday! My you were all busy chatting last night. I went to the oncologist last night and got the all clear to have chemo today. I go in a little later this morning than I normally do. I also have my last one scheduled for August 24th. So hopefully I will be fully finished with chemo in time for the cruise and with a few weeks to get my taste buds back.

Mary, big doses of pixie dust for you that things work out well. pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

I'm a little disappointed by this as well. My one big gripe is if you aren't going to tell us the theme then take that page off the website. You click on it and it goes to 2008. I think DVC Marketing has been hit by cut backs.

I hope you're wrong, but I'm afraid you're right :sad1:

They might have some of the same things. :confused3 I would love to have gone to D23 but just too close to the cruise and we're driving to the cruise.

I was wondering about that, too. Maybe they'll bring all the stuff from the D23 expo for us. Who knows? They really should give us a little feel for what to expect. I guess we're lucky though; since it's our first member cruise, we have nothing to compare it against.

2011 bookings aren't open yet. You can however book a dummy date while on board and then move it. We did this last year. We booked 12/5/09 hoping we would like where they were going in 2010. The Baltics hold no interest to us but then we found out a friends daughter is getting married on one of the 5 night cruises on the Wonder so we transferred out reservation to that.

We'd really love to be able to book a trip aboard one of the new ships, too, especially one of the maiden voyages.

It makes me nervse that there is not theme yet. I am worried that it will be a flop

I guess we're trying to keep our expectations low and just enjoy the cruise. Hey, two days at CC...how bad could it be ;) ?

Here's a question: Anyone have any thoughts about what movies they'll be playing on our cruise? And is there time for movies on the member cruise?

Take me too, Me Too!!!!!!!

Can't wait to hear all about it. Have Fun!!!! :yay:

We are so envious that you're getting to go now. Have a fabulous time and please let us know how it was (besides MAGICal and WONDERful, of course).

Thanks! I'm just about ready to head out of the office, got just a couple of things to do. Talk to everyone next week.

I'll check with Captain Henry or Captain John when I am on to see if the Wonder is scheduled for a dry dock in September 2010 at all, that may be one reason why there isn't any cruises scheduled then.

Okay! See everyone next week.

I have noticed alot of new members going on this cruise and alot of names from the past not listed.I can only tell the newbies that this will be a cruise you will never forget.Mark and mary made my family feel like old friends from the first time we meet at the beach Club solarium and it was a wonderful ice breaker so you don't feel uncomfortable not knowing anybody when you board.I still have my button from the Oct 07 dvc cruise and it's in view for me to see every day.

I wish all my DVC friends a wonderful trip and hope to see you next year!

Thanks for the kind words Billy. Wish you were sailing with us this time.

We're still on the fence about 2010. It is another 4 day or if we feel DVC really dropped the ball on this one we most likely won't be on it. We already have two big trips planned for next year one being a cruise with 2 stops at CC. We'll just have to wait and see. :)

My wife and I will be celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary and staying at BLT with a MK view on Thurs and Fri night. We went to the open mouse a couple weeks ago and were very impressed with the resort. We are looking forward to trying out the accomodations and watching the MK fireworks from the roof.

Annmarie, there is a Crocs store in the Orlando Airport in the Main Terminal. It is along the food court area. If you have time you could always stop in and see what they have available. I liked browsing in there because they had a number of styles I had never seen before. Most stores where I have shopped only carry a small selection of styles. I never realized there was such a variety.

Regards, Lisa

Great idea! Except DH is going to say . . ."I thought Magical Express is over there.:rotfl2:

For those of you shipping your FE gifts down, what address do you ship them to and when do you send them?

Thanks

Robbie

Annmarie, if you happen to be in Boston for some reason, there was a Croc store at Quincy Market when I was there last year.

I'll have to check it out. One of my office locations is in Quincy so I'll have to look. Actually, I think the Clog Shoppe moved from Hingham to Quincy.

Thanks!

If I remember correctly, Robbie (cause I asked the same question a while back) that info is on the first page of the thread.

Gee, Billy, I wish you were going on this cruise so we could meet. We're only about 45 minutes from Barnegat. DH's sister used to live there, but has now gone to NC. It's a nice area there.

Hopefully we'll get to meet next time. :)

Happy 5th Anniversary!!!!!!! I will be anxious to hear how you like BLT. We want to stay there someday and will be interested to hear your take on it. It would be so cool to watch the fireworks from the roof then just go back down to your room. No crowds, no busses. . .ah, the life! Enjoy! :thumbsup2

9/12 - 9/16/2010. The Wonder sails for 3 nights on 9/9 and then nothing until 9/16.

Hi Mike!

Thanks for the information.

I was on both the DCL site and the DIS site checking out dates and they both show a 9/12/10. I am not sure where you are seeing the missing 9/12 date.

Maybe the DCL site is not consistent in their information. I am in the cruises-destinations/bahamas/itineraries/4-night-bahamian-cruise. On that page I am looking at the Sail Dates tab.

But the 9/12 date would make sense as it corresponds to this years time frame.

Regards,
Lisa

Too funny! Your response should be....."If you want me to get to the Magical Express over there, then you better let me buy some Crocs over here!! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:
