Subbing.. We are staying POR in March 2010, in the AB area.. My sis is getting married in WDW and she and her fiance will be staying at POR in the Mansion (at least that is what she requested), with king size bed.

Does anyone have pics of the Mansion king size bed rooms?? I am a lil' nervous -- as seeing the pics i have so far, the room decor is not my style, but being that we have 5 in our room - it is the only mod that sleeps 5. The Mansion rooms seem, outdated... kinda boring. Not what i really was expecting, and hoping my sis isn't disappointed..
When was the last time POR had a refurb?

Hoping this thread will get my excited and looking forward to it!! Keep the pics coming.. Those HDR pics are beautiful!!!

The Mansion Building room interiors are meant to reflect the antebellum South - what did you expect them to look like, a New York apartment? It's rather like saying that Main Street USA looks just like it hasn't been updated since the 1900s... ;)

Seriously though, the rooms are lovely and very comfortable for a moderate, very romantic for honeymooners and much along the lines of the rooms in French Quarter. The last major resort-wide refit was about five years ago, but minor work was done a year or two ago when the aircon units were replaced and changes made to the lighting and a few other things.

At first when I began my planning (for 2010 trip) I was unsure what resort I wanted my DBF and I to stay at. I was getting a little overwhelmed. But this thread as well as your web site, Andre, has convinced me that POR is it! I stayed here when it was Dixie Landings and I loved it! So I figure why try to change something if it's not broken.:) Of course, I'm still in my early stages of planning so I'm 95% sure that's it's POR but I'm still going to leave myself 5% wiggle room incase we win the lottery and then WL it is!:rotfl:

Keep the beautiful pics coming!

wow some great pics in here and they bring back some great memories. Port Orleans was the first resort I ever stayed at and I had an unbelievable time there

i understand what you are saying -- i just meant that they seem a little worn i guess.. like they could use a freshen up.. that's all. :) Again, i am in AB section, so i don't care.. and those rooms aren't my fav either -- but i do agree that the grounds of the resort are pretty.. and there is lots to offer there.. i just don't care for the room decor. I am more of a tropical vacation girl (see my siggy??) ;)

Anybody have pictures taken throughout the concessions at POR (I mean the lounges inside and the one on Ol' Man Island, and the general store... and of the food offerings in the all)?

Thanks!

Can anyone direct me to a picture of the trundle beds at POR? I'd like to see how tight the room gets with the trundle pulled out. Thanks!

There are pics of both the bars/etc and the trundle bed in the Gallery on my website.

I'm almost a year late with these pictures but here you go!! I couldn't figure out how to make the pictures bigger. I uploaded them to photobucket and then just copied and pasted the img code. Does anyone know how to do bigger pictures??

Just come across this thread as I'm trying to plan a trip to WDW in Nov 2010 and POR is on our shortlist but wondered if anyone could answer a couple of questions.

We're in the UK, when I go to the WDW site to get prices, our party is too large and the only room it can give us at a WDW resort is a suite at All Star Music, however when I look in the travel brochures and websites for companies like Virgin, they can accomodate us in a POR room with a trundle bed, can anyone confirm? I have seen people say they've had the trundle, perhaps they've stopped doing them?

If we can't be accomodated in POR then we will have to stay in the family suite but then we lose out on the free dining. Our party is 2 adults, 3 children aged 16, 15, 4 & the dining plan seems a good money saving

For some odd reason, many people from the UK have said the same thing about the trundle bed. :confused3

We are a family of 5, our kid's ages are almost the same as yours (16,15,6) and we stayed at POR this past Sept.and we will be staying there again for our Dec. trip. So yes there are still trundle beds. :thumbsup2

Yes, you can indeed be accommodated at POR with that party size, this is a known problem with the UK Disney booking office. They seem to operate more like a high-street travel agent rather than a UK arm of WDW, and as such can only book whatever packages and options they have on their system. And POR for 5 people is not something they have on their system. :(

The problem you are going to face is that if you book with Disney US, they will be able to book the five of you into POR with the Dining Plan, but probably with US 'Magic Your Way' ticket types rather than the more useful (and much cheaper!) 14-day or 21-day Ultimate tickets which are reserved for UK guests. Because the dining plan requires you to have some sort of ticket media included in the booking (even if only for one day each) Disney USA probably won't be able to remove them completely so you can just buy 14- or 21-day tickets back in the UK.

It might be an idea to talk with an independent travel consultant if you still want to book a seperate package, or find a UK travel agent that allows 5 per room at POR with 14-day tickets and the dining plan.

Thank you very much for all that information, I think I'll have a look around the UK travel companies when they produce their brochures, at the minute there's only really Virgin who are selling Winter 2010 packages after looking at your website and also this thread, I definately want to stay at the POR it looks really lovely
