If I don't get in, we're going to Disney.. PTR for 8/25/09! Now with Fact of the Day!

I am thinking I will take more than one too - heaven forbid you lose one, at least you won't have to try to buy another one at Disney!

Hey ZeroToHero!

We are going to be there almost the same days (i'll be less days than you due to my hubby work).

Nice PreTrip!

Thank you very much! You're staying at SSR, right?

Mini-update:

I bought a few more things, dug a few more things out of the attic, and cleaned my room! (The last is the most surprising.. :rotfl:)

Everything is now sitting on my bed, so I need to clean that off because I'm dead tired.

Lou also consented to me making a countdown for him. He said only for the last week, but that seems lame, I want to do the last two weeks (which starts TUESDAY!!!). I'm going to make little envelopes or something with the number on them, and then an interesting fact about a park or ride inside.

I also printed out all of our itineraries on colorful paper and laminated them... badly. I didn't know exactly how to work the laminator, but I think it's okay - you can still read them.

It still seems like a really long time away, even though I know it's not. I don't even know how long I've had the suitcase out in my room for.... a month, at least. I've also been stockpiling DVDs to watch on the TV in our room - and microwave popcorn. I loveee popcorn! :)

 16 days!!!!!!!!!!
I'm no closer than I was last week to being ready ! I had a little dip in the road but it's all coming back together now I think! I hope if I can get out today then I'll be good! I was soo sick yesterday all day from like 4:30am! It was horrible! So I'm hoping to get alot done tody that I had planned for yesterday! We'll see what happens! I have one of those disney corners in my room also! lol! It's piled pretty high! :thumbsup2

I hope you're feeling better today! Keep hydrated! (Even if it is with nasty orange Gatorade).

Thanks! I'm trying today I'm actually able to eat and drink and keep it down! I'm just really aching but I think thats from all the lovely things yesterday, I had going on. I went and got my hair done today I like to get it done before we leave but not right before because it doesn't always cooperate so that didn't take much effort on my part the hairdresser thought I was falling asleep on her! I almost did lol! I got high lights and a trim! I'm trying to let my hair grow again! I do this I drive myself crazy I get it cut short then I have it mid length then a lil longer then short it's never the same I can honestly say that! I purchased a few more pairs of shorts for DS JCPenny was having a sale and he is so skinny it's hard to get his size! So hopefully tommorrow I'll get some more done I have to take it slow so I don't over due it because like I said I'm still real achy! So have you gotten your things together or packed? I'm gonna try and start that tommorrow we'll see how that works for me!

Arg! I need to call in on Tuesday to schedule a hair appointment sometime in the next two weeks - I keep forgetting! I only have time to get it done after the 17th but before the 21st... the 22nd might work, but I don't want to put it off that long. :headache:

As for packing, yes, I did get some of that done! I packed up anything that might let Lou know that we're not staying in a studio (the laundry sheet, DVDs, CDs, etc.) in the checked bag, which I don't think he'll open, and even if he does, I wrapped them up in clothes and hid them. I have my bathing suit and coverup packed, as well as a lot of our shirts and my shorts. Almost all of our toiletries that we don't need until the trip are packed... mini shampoos, hand lotions, conditioners (all from past Disney trips - loveeee H20), bug spray, the 70 SPF sun lotion I bought, etc.

The ponchos are packed too - and light-up necklaces if we want to wear them. The water bottle Lou bought is packed.... a lot of things........

I'm sure I'm going to unpack and repack the day before we go, of course, but at least this way I know I have less to gather as it gets closer.

Man, it was hot and humid today.... yuck!

So I went to Lou's house, and gave him a packing list (which I kept adding to), a Mickey carry-on suitcase that he can borrow to pack his stuff in, and a chain full of fun facts to count down the next 15 days. Today's fact was:

15 days
Covering 47 square miles, Walt Disney World Resort is about the size of San Francisco or two Manhattan islands. Of the more than 30,000 acres, less than ¼ has been developed, with another quarter designated as a wilderness preserve.

He also sang "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" for me with the karaoke back-up off Comcast On-Demand, and I got goosebumps, he was so good. I don't usually get goosebumps when he sings, so I really think this is the right song, if he sings it how he did today.

Each day I'll post Lou's fact of the day, to keep the countdown going.

We're almost there! I only have six more days of work!!!!! :woohoo:

:cool1:

9 more work days for me- but I just got excellent news that we don't need to cram in all the stuff I thought we'd have to do. :)

BTW did you see that they extended the DHS hrs for some days the week we're there? Extra Fantasmics too! (although all the Entertainment mysteriously disappeared for 8/23 since I checked earlier today :confused3)

That's good! I just got the un-excellent news that I have to work 9-5 instead of 10-6 this Friday... meaning they're going to saddle me with all the opening work.... bleh.

And yeah - I'll be using those extra hours on the 29th. I don't know if we'll go to the later Fantasmic - I don't think so. But I think we will go on rides after the first one, depending on the lines. Or at least take photos outside of the Tower of Terror.. :scared1:

As long as there is no Fantasmic on the 29th, I'll be good. I don't want to deal with the increased crowds that that will bring...

12 days for you!
14 for me!

I want to show Lou the Animal Kingdom Lodge on Friday the 28th - see if I can't change his mind about staying there for our next (hopefully there will be one after college) trip. You'll have to give a report on how it is!

I wish I had started packing. Everything is sort of everywhere around here! LOL!

I would like to announce that there are only 2 WEEKS LEFT FOR TO GO FOR US!

(And us includes Villainess and anyone else leaving on the 25th)

Fact of the day:

2 weeks!
Walt designed the Parks so that when you pass from land to land, it transforms as you walk. The music, scenery, buildings, even the pavement changes to match the new land.

In Fantasyland, the pavement changes a few times. One is near Ariel's Grotto. The pavement is cement mixed with seashells like you would find near an ocean town. Another is right in front of the carousel where Merlin the Magician picks a lucky lad to remove the Sword from the Stone. The pavement there is shaped like sword blades.

I figure most of us knew the first part, but did you know the second? I didn't until now!

Haha, did you at least have a good time while on vacation?

And it is moving! That's so exciting, she's slowly making her way across to the castle, just like you! :thumbsup2

And speaking of the fact of the day.. it's time for that!

13 days!!
In Spaceship Earth, there are two figures that used to be in the Hall of Presidents: the sleeping monk used to be Woodrow Wilson & the large bald slave in the Egyptian scene was William Taft.

When they were asked to join Epcot, the Moroccan king was so excited that they had been asked. He sent his own men over there to build it and paid for the construction. It did not cost Disney anything to build. When walking through Morocco, take a look at all of the mosaics on the walls. You will notice that each mosaic has at least one cracked/flawed tile in it. The Moroccan people believe that only Allah can create something that is "perfect," so every mosaic was purposely flawed!

I will definitely report back on AKL if/when we go visit. I would like to, because I thought it was so cool when we went to dinner there in 2007.

LOL - Yes it was fun....I guess... no Disney but then again can anything really measure up to that....I went to my family reunion in Jersey. My favorite part was being nominated to chair the next reunion in 2011 on board a cruise....guess which cruiseline that will be....DISNEY :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Interesting fact today....where did you find these, I really had no idea... next time I am in Moroco I will make it a point to go check this out....I want to start celebrating our up coming trip with weekend Disney themed activities and this would be great for the adults in my party....maybe after giving them all the facts we can play a game and see who can photograpgh the most "facts" on the trip......

LOL - not everyone was a thrilled as I am .....but we have lots of little kids in our family and the last thing I wanted was to be stuck on a standard cruise with bored little kids.....DCL really offers lots for every age group....this would be my first one. So I have lots of research to do......

Thanks for the link I will add it to my spreedsheet....

12 days!!!
The "beat-up" delivery vehicle that rests out front of Pizza Planet is, of course, made to look like the one in Toy Story that Woody and Buzz ride in, and if you look in the passenger window, you can find the buckled-in Buzz in the passenger seat. Also, if you look in the bed canopy, you can find Woody thrashed around with the toolbox in back.

Calling later today to order the cake for 1900 Park Fare. I'll update you guys on how it goes. :)

Alright, the cake was ordered this morning, right after I woke up! I had no trouble at all getting through, that went really fast. After I listened to the CM tell me about the 6 and 8 inch boring cakes, I told her I wanted the mini two-tiered cake, and she quickly was all business, asking me what flavor I wanted (chocolate), what I wanted written on the plate (Happy Anniversary), what day and time our reservation was for, etc.

I am certainly hoping for the best, because she seemed to know what she was doing, which was good. I don't think I'll call back and bother them to make sure that the cake is being delivered, now that it's no longer a surprise. I'll just ask at the podium. If they don't have it for some reason, there's always the dessert section of the buffet.

Today I bought a 48-pack of batteries (I don't know how many my camera will use) and Rolaids, which means that my shopping is done besides getting gum for take-off and landing, so our ears don't pop as much.

Yesterday we went out for dinner (because we just got a new fridge after ours broke the day before, and we weren't up for cooking, since we had no food), and while at the mall, I got some new sandals at Marshalls.

They're Born (which are apparently really nice?) and I love them, even though my room smells like leather now. :rotfl: It's the Palisade style, in a deep brown.

Looks kinda like this:

They replaced my Teva Mushes, which I got for 5$ one day when my other sandals broke (right outside of a shoe store, believe it or not).

So now I'm done shopping!!!!!!! Soooo happy. We're almost there!
