Dragging a grumpy DH back to the World ~ Single Digits!!

After spending several hours at work obsessing over park hours, trolling Tour Guide Mike, checking (and rechecking) Touring Plans I have FINALLY made our itinerary. Overall, I'm quite pleased. However, I'm concerned about doing CM on Thursday and then heading over to AK. I tried to see if I could change my ADR to Wednesday, but I can't. Boo!! Tell me what you guys think.

Sunday, August 23
Arrive MCO at 1:50pm
Check-in to VWL
Grab snack at Roaring Forks
Hit the pool
Head to DTD
Dinner at Carrabba's

Monday, August 24
AM -- MK
PM – DHS (evening EMH)

Tuesday, August 25
AM – AK
PM – DHS
ADRs – Boma (breakfast, 7:35am), Whispering Canyon Café (dinner, 9pm)

Wednesday, August 26
All day - MK

Thursday, August 27
AM – AK
PM – Epcot
ADRs – Chef Mickey’s (breakfast, 7:25am)

Friday, August 28
I think we might try to go to Universal this day. :woohoo:

If we don't do that, then we'd do this:
AM - DHS
PM - AK & MK

Saturday, August 29
We have to be at MCO by 8am. SAD!!!

Looks good....and exhausting! ;) Just how I like my WDW trips. :rotfl2:

Are you guys the type to utilize a mid-day break since you are going during such a hot time of year and the park hours are longer or do you go go go all day long?

For all the days you don't have any ADRs planned, what's the plan? Meals in your room since your staying at VWL or will you be eating at counter-service places? If it's the latter, got any faves? I'm looking for a few to add to the itineraries for our trips in October and December.

Ha, so true! You almost need a vacation after you get back from WDW.

We'll do breakfast in the room. DH LOVES cereal, and I'm planning on getting some fruit and Cliff Bars. We'll do counter service for lunch while at the parks. I really like CS restaurants for some reason. For dinner, we'll be eating at various restaurants in the area. You've inspired me to do a separate post about food options.

I didn't think there was anyone who didn't do a whole post about food :rotfl2: It's one of the most fun things to talk about and probably one of my most highly anticipated post to read in a PTR and TR. Last trip in 07, none of the food was planned---this trip with (hopefully) Deluxe Dining Plan, every bite will be planned down to the last Dole Whip ;) I have a DM that gets cranky when she's hungry, so consistently giving her something to eat will be a must. :goodvibes

HA! Food is definitely a driving force behind any trip we take. I'd love to do the DDP some time. I'd have to do it with someone who'd fully appreciate it. DH doesn't like Disney food ::GASP::. Yeah, he's weird like that.

Your DM sounds like me and my family. We have some serious blood sugar issues when we don't eat. We get grumpy FAST. So, I understand how important for everyone sanity getting fed is. :thumbsup2

I'm definitely one of those people who is ruled by their stomachs. I love food, especially at WDW! Anne inspired me to list out all the place we'll be eating to correspond w/ our itinerary. We'll also be stopping by Wal-Mart or Publix to pick up some snacks and breakfast items for the week.

Sunday

Breakfast/lunch -- We'll grab something at the airport, probably something boring from McDonald's or Chick-Fil-A. Hey, we're on vacation...gotta start eating bad immediately!

Lunch/Snack -- Roaring Forks. I'll probably get a salad and Aaron will get a pizza.

Dinner -- Carrabba's Italian Grill I know, they're a chain. But, it holds special meaning to DH. Aaron is addicted to this restaurant and this is where it all began. Plus, he's convinced it's far superior than the one we have in Indy. :rolleyes1

Monday

Breakfast -- Eat in room, Aaron will have cereal and I'll have some fruit & Cliff Bar.

Lunch -- Cosmic Ray's. It's a staple when you're at MK. I love all the different variety they offer. That said, I'll probably go all out and get a...cheeseburger. :rotfl: I love their fixings bar. Anyplace that has free cheese sauce gets an A+ from me!

I'll get Flame Tree BBQ...love the Pork sandwich.

Dinner -- Toy Story Pizza Planet. This is a MUST for us when we're at DHS. I love the pizza and salad combo!!

Tuesday

Breakfast -- Boma!!! I am really excited to try this place. The Jamba Juice sounds so good!!!!

Lunch -- Pizzafari for Aaron...he LOVES their breadsticks.

Dinner -- Whispering Canyon Cafe. I CANNOT wait to try the skillet. Mmmm! Sadly, DH is not going to eat at WCC. So, we'll probably get him Giordano's. He's in love with their stuffed pizza. Any place that serves about a pound of mozzarella in their pizza is a great place for DH (and to clog your ateries ). Here's a pic of their yummy pizza!

Wednesday

Breakfast -- In our room -- although, I might head down to Roaring Forks and get a yogurt parfait. Those things are AMAZING!!!

Lunch -- Peco Bill's. This is my other favorite counter service restaurant in all of WDW. I usually get the taco salad or the BBQ pork sandwich -- so good!!

Dinner -- Flipper's Pizzeria. Their Mediterranean chicken pizza is AMAZING! Seriously, so good. Here's a picture from October:

Thursday

Breakfast -- Chef Mickey's. I'm so excited to have breakfast w/ Mickey and Minnie! I'm even more excited to see how grumpy it makes Aaron. :lmao:

Lunch -- Pizzafari We'll go back and get some breadsticks. We'll probably be so stuffed from breakfast we won't want anything else.

Dinner -- Still undecided about this. Surprisingly, we're not huge Epcot fans. However, we'll definitely hit up the Boulangerie Patisserie

Friday

Breakfast -- In our room.

Lunch -- If we go to Universal, we'll eat at the Comic Strip Cafe. Universal is notorious for having crappy food. I thought about going out of the park and doing a restaurant at City Walk. Since we only have one day to do both parks, we probably won't do that, though.

Dinner -- Sweet Tomatoes. :lovestruc This is my one of my all-time favorites in Orlando. Why? Because I am obsessed with salad bars. Seriously. I think they are the best things in the entire world. Mmmm, so good! Plus, Sweet Tomatoes has some seriously good blueberry muffins.

Snacks
I can't forget to mention all the great snacks that we plan to gorge ourselves with.

Popcorn Bucket -- WDW popcorn is far superior to all other popcorn.
n6852884_47092986_4119.jpg

MK Bakery Cupcake -- DH loves these things!

Ice Cream Sandwich

Yogurt Parfait

Dole Whip -- I figured I'd give it another try. The first one I had wasn't that great.

Rice Krispy Treat

Peanut Butter Fudge

Mickey's Ice Cream Bar

I'm pretty sure I gained ten pounds just from typing this all out. I can't wait to get there and start eating!! :rotfl:

Mmmmmmm, sounds great! That Giordano's pizza looks pretty awesome if I do say so myself. I had considered that as a possible dinner option for us after returning from Cirque du Soleil. We can hang out in our room and eat deep dish pizza. ::licks lips::

One thing that I don't want you to hold me to, but I believe I read a post on the Restaurants Board that the MK Bakery no longer has cupcakes? I'm not positive, but someone said that their family tradition was to get MK cupcakes first thing in the morning for breakfast and last time they went the cupcakes had gone the way of the French Toast Loaf and were eliminated. :confused3 Here's hoping they are still there!! :thumbsup2

Kirsten!! That stuffed pizza!!!! OMG YUM!!! That looks sooo good!!!!!

Plans sound great!! I have never had popcorn from Disney lol!! I guess I should try it next time!

Mmm, Chik-Fil-A. Yummmmmm. I don't know why but we love that place so much. Maybe since there aren't any around here anymore!

That pizza does look really good!

Can you believe that tomorrow we can say we're going to WDW this month?!

I'm pretty sure I gained 10 pounds just READING it!

Have you ever had Giordano's before? It's AMAZING!! We got hooked during trips to Chicago and became incredibly excited to find out they had some down in Florida too. Mmmm...it is definitely worth it. I highly recommend it!

OH NO!!!!! Aaron is going to have an aneurysm when he finds that out. Now, I'm off to do some cupcake investigation. :goodvibes

That pizza is AWESOME! I'm still not sure if it's better than NY style, though. It's probably like 2000 calories per slice, but totally worth it!

WHAT?! That's just like me not having tomato soup. :rotfl: LYNN...you HAVE TO TRY THE POPCORN!! Ok, I'll calm down now. Seriously though, that popcorn is so good. I swear, they put something else in it. I could just eat Disney popcorn all day long.

Yeah, don't you hate when you don't have restaurants close by that you love? Although, you're probably right...you probably like it more since it's not readily available. I love their waffle fries.

I KNOW!!!!!!!!!! I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!! I can't believe August starts tomorrow. This summer has FLOWN by. Not that I'm too sad...we're going to Disney World soon!!!!

HAHA everybody says that about the pop corn!!! We will have to get some next time. We are going to have a million snack credits. Can you use a snack credit for the pop corn?

I

I'm pretty sure I gained ten pounds just from typing this all out. I can't wait to get there and start eating!! :rotfl:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
i really want to eat at Boma's and Whispering Canyon. I  Giordono's and had them our last trip. It was great even as carry-out. The others sounds great as well. I am sure i gained 10 lbs too!

It's seriously the BEST popcorn. EVER! I think you can get a small box of popcorn for 1 credit. I always have to get a popcorn bucket. I usually will save the bucket, and use it to collect spare change. I have another one I use for whenever I make popcorn. It's like a little piece of WDW right at home. Haha.

I'll make sure to take some really great food porn at both places for you! I'm really excited about eating at both places. Mmmm. Giordano's is such a great pizza place. We discovered it during a trip to Chicago. DH fell in love. :rotfl:

I figure I can justify eating all that bad stuff since we'll be doing some major walking. Maybe I'll only gain five pounds instead of ten! :goodvibes

We go to WDW this month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it's August already. Where has the time went? Not that I'm complaining. We leave in 19 days!!

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Wowwww---19 days?! I can't believe it. You must be so pumped and ready to go already. So what's the plan for the next 19 days? Do you have clothes picked out, do you have pins organized and ready to pack?

I have been trying not to pay too much attention to my tickets because counting down day by day is a very slow process, but when I checked this morning and saw that our October WDW trip was only 74 days away, that was definitely exciting

Did you ever get a definite answer about the Main Street Bakery cupcakes?

Breakfast/lunch -- We'll grab something at the airport, probably something boring from McDonald's or Chick-Fil-A. Hey, we're on vacation...gotta start eating bad immediately!

I'll get Flame Tree BBQ...love the Pork sandwich.

Me too! :thumbsup2

Dinner -- Whispering Canyon Cafe. I CANNOT wait to try the skillet. Mmmm!

I can't wait either - don't tell Grumpy, but I'm going to ask him to ask the server for some straws and/or ketchup (and he knows NOTHING about the WCC antics) :lmao:

Sadly, DH is not going to eat at WCC. So, we'll probably get him Giordano's. He's in love with their stuffed pizza. Any place that serves about a pound of mozzarella in their pizza is a great place for DH (and to clog your ateries ). Here's a pic of their yummy pizza!

Wow, that looks delish!

Breakfast -- Chef Mickey's. I'm so excited to have breakfast w/ Mickey and Minnie! I'm even more excited to see how grumpy it makes Aaron. :lmao:

We enjoyed CM breakfast last time (it was our only ADR!), so I booked it for our last morning. The other day, Grumpy (who has seen the ADR list and the trip plan at least 10 times!) says "we're not going to that Mickey's place for breakfast again, are we?". When I stopped laughing, I told him that we were and he was going to like it :rotfl2:

Dinner -- Still undecided about this. Surprisingly, we're not huge Epcot fans. However, we'll definitely hit up the Boulangerie Patisserie

Ooooh, how about Chefs de France? We loved the Patisserie and will be visiting there (probably as many times as possible) on our two Epcot days :thumbsup2

Dole Whip -- I figured I'd give it another try. The first one I had wasn't that great.

Did you try the Dole Whip Float? Last time, I had a Dole Whip first - it was good, but it wasn't what I was expecting. Then, I figured out that what I actually wanted was the Dole Whip Float! So, I had that another day and it was wonderful :lovestruc

I'm pretty sure I gained ten pounds just from typing this all out. I can't wait to get there and start eating!! :rotfl:

I think I gained ten pounds just from reading all you typed out :rotfl:

MK Bakery Cupcake -- DH loves these things!

Just wanted to tell you about the cupcakes at Starring Rolls at DHS. They are to die for. I have been dreaming about them. I got the butterfinger one which wasn't very good cold but after letting it warm up it was the best thing ever. I wish I had taken a picture darn it.

Found a picture........They are huge in real life
