Well, the only good thing about heading from the Myrtle Beach vacation in the morning is that it means that the October Disney trip is 1 day closer!

I am already planning for Dec 2010 (aclty. I started that one night at the fort back in oct 2008) my problem, I have the fever and am outside of the 500 day booking window. I have started working the spreadsheet and relized that I get TWO - 2 extra days since I have holiday for Xmas and New Years. What an unexpected bonus!!!!!!! Can I really squeeze three week??? Got to check the kids school sched.

Dreamy in the show me state,
SP

We are nearing the end of our vacation in Myrtle Beach this week, but my eyes and heart are already set for our Disney trip Oct 1-11. Anyone else going to be there during that time?

We are there from 10/3-10-8 staying at POP. Just a short trip this time!:lmao:

I was on vacation since Saturday... this thread was really moving. I had 5 pages to read up on!:goodvibes

Wow, It's been a busy summer... So far we have spent two separate weeks of vacation at Myrtle Beach. One week with my DW's family and one with mine. If we had known so many Dis Dad's were going to MB around the same time, maybe we could have had a meet up.

In addition to the vacations, add the normal travel for work. I finally slept in my own bed for two nights straight for the first time in three weeks!

Last week was especially hard on DW while I was gone. Swarms of bees in the yard, flooded ceiling tiles in the basement Tuesday morning, her mom was in a vehicle crash out of town Tuesday afternoon and will require knee surgery, her computer crashed, and on top of it all, her Birthday was on Wednesday while I was out of town. Sometimes, traveling just sucks.

So, I poured gasoline in the yellow jacket nest when I got home, bought her a new computer for her birthday, still investigating the flooding problem but after interrogating the kids, I think that I know what happened. (Also have damaged wood flooring above where the leaks are. GRRRR! :headache: ) Not much that I can do for her mom other than well wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery.

Just found out that my parents are planning another Disney cruise. This will be their third. They tried out a Carnival Cruise last year and said that it just wasn't the same as Disney. I must agree! :thumbsup2 :boat:

Glad to see that so many other dads have found their way to the new thread and that we are still growing. Welcome to all the new members! :welcome: Hope everyone is having a great summer!

Just found we have a new thread...this is great.Well we got back safe and sound from our first time ever "July 4th" vacation in Disney. We had a great time and after a few visits threw the years I was able to surprise my wife and kids (because of a cancellation) with being flag family for the day at the WL.I have to say if you have done it then you know but if you haven't its a must.My girls thought who their dad must be to pull something like this off, plus they couldn't believe the views from the rooftop. It was an honor to see my daughter help raise the american flag with ranger Don and say the pledge of allegiance(haven't done that in a long time) and all the while it really made me think about how blessed I was to have my wife and kids safe and enjoying themselves while the men and women in our armed forces are protecting us.I have to tell you guys it left a lump in my throat. This time around we just stayed poolside and on the last day ran threw 3 out of the 4 parks. Its was more of a relaxing vacation just taking our time and not really into doing that much. Now for a question.....am I just nuts,do I have to seek professional help or is it just normal for a "DisDad".I spent one night in March by myself(business)one night in April with wife(10yr anniversary)and 8 nights with the family July 4th and we still have our 9 night christmas stay still to do.I was just wondering and threw the idea by the wife to do a 7 night stay just before the kids go back to school at the end of August. Is this normal? It feels right and doesn't seem like I'm thinking wrong.Anyone have any insight about it?I mean we just got back and I want to go back again, like soon.Help I think.......

I did not know we were having a road trip. If so, I would have had wife drop me off at the I-95 interchange on the way home from Myrtle eysterday!:confused3

Any chance you could swing thorugh Illinois?

I wanna go now!!!! :rotfl2:

I guess we'll just have to wait until November.... only 112 days according to TGM. :thumbsup2

We have my friend and his wife visiting starting on Tuesday through Wednesday of the following week. It should be fun showing off Chicago for these out of towners.

Hope everyone has a great week!

First off I'm happy to hear that I'm not nuts and I'm acting just as normal as a DisDad should.Second,I wasn't planning to drive this time around due to getting a $25 voucher for airtran off the Disboards(would save me $200 off airfare for the family)but hey I can keep the family home, fill the tank in the car and head south on I-95 and pick everyone and anyone(DisDads only) thats willing to jump in while I slow down just enough for them to get in.I say Disney or Bust...Look for the red minivan at an exit near you......let me see if I have it right...
so far I'm picking up;

Settle down, boys. If we're going to do this, we're going to do this right. We buy an old school bus and paint up to look like one of Disney's Magical Express busses. Rip out the seats and bolt in some old couches, bunk beds, a kitchen table and a fridge. Duct tape a Webber grill off the back. Air horns off of a diesel locomotive.
We swing throughout the country picking up Dads, ending up at Fort Wilderness!

Party Bus! WHOOOOO!

HAHAHA! All my "cube-mates" are now giving me the "what's up with Don laughing his behind off in his cube again" look. This post got me bustin' up big time! Mostly because I think we are all nutz enough to do it! :rotfl:

Appreciate tracking down the new thread!

No problem, Bob! Glad you found us again and get caught up. How's John's family doing? Any word?

I know I'm probably missing a few new requests to join the club... I'll get to those in just a minute. I have to inform you guys of a conversation I had last night with DW. As most of you know, I'm working on DW to increase her interest in future DW trips. Well... I'm sitting on the couch last night snacking on some plain M&M's (my DD calls them Emma M's :)) and out of the blue DW says, "You're probably going to think I'm crazy... but I was just wondering why we haven't booked our trip to WDW for next year yet?" I about choked on a blue M&M when the words came out of her mouth! After regaining normal air flow again, I tried to be quick thinking and said "Well... I was thinking more like a mini-trip in the fall since they still have free dining...." (just testing the water here). And she's like "...well how much would that be?" :cool1: Oh yeah! We just might be taking a trip sooner than I thought was possible. She's starting to get it. :yay: I do believe we are going to have to do a DVC presentation next trip......
