Tuesday May 26th. Day 5, Part 1.
When I last left you, I had gone to bed with the plans of having a relaxing morning with perhaps some pool time and then heading to MK in the afternoon so I could catch Spectromagic again.
Of course you know that the plans changed.
I woke up around 8:30, feeling rested and good. I put on the weather channel which had become my morning habit. They were predicting rain & thunderstorms again....right around the time I was planning on heading to the Magic Kingdom.
I was not pleased. While I was thinking about what I was going to do, I flicked through the channels. I stopped on Step by Step on ABC Family and guess what episode it was? The episode in which they are at Disney World! I sat and watched, reliving my childhood.
I decided that I didn't want to be going out to the parks in the rain. It's one thing to get caught in the rain but it's hard to make myself go to the parks in the rain. I got ready, bandaged my feet and headed out to the bus stop. Which was one loooooong walk. I had been totally spoiled with Jen's car for the first 1/2 of my trip.
I didn't wait too long for a MK bus and was able to grab a seat. That was important with my feet. I sat down every chance that I got. I did feel a little bad because there was a mother who came on the bus, the rest of her party was split up all over the bus and she had her little girl with her. She was also carrying two cups of coffee. No way she could hold them and the handle. I told her that I would be more than happy to hold her coffee and that I would give her my seat but I had hurt my feet and didn't really want to stand up. She was so grateful that I offered to hold her coffee and she told me not to worry about the seat. We had a nice chat on our way to MK. I love Disney moments like that.
All week I had been trading texts with Cynthia - Addicted2theMouse, she was staying at All Star Music but our paths hadn't crossed yet. She was in MK today so I had texted and told her I was on my way. She ended up meeting me on Main Street. I didn't even think to get a picture! She was with two of her daughters and we decided to head over to Carousel of Progress...I don't think they had ever done it or if they had it had been a really long time. I enjoyed my ride around the CoP, I didn't even take my camera out. In fact...I only took 5 pictures on my solo day.
After our ride, Cynthia and her daughters went to find a Dole Whip and I went and had another Cream Cheese Pretzel.
I think this is my favorite snack at Disney World. So good! I sat in Tomorrowland, dodged the creepy birds and ate my pretzel. I knew I wanted to head to Fantasyland next. I really enjoyed walking slowly, taking in all the little details. It's so nice to be solo and not worry about anyone else having a good time or getting on the rides they want to ride.
Winnie the Pooh and Snow White had long wait times so I passed on those. I decided to see Mickey's Philharmagic. The line was outside but in no time at all I was inside and I could have sworn that I took pictures of the posters inside, in fact I know I did but they are not on my memory card. Weird. I was able to sit in quite near the front. I enjoyed the show so much, like always. This is my favorite 3D movie in Disney. I just love it, so magical and it has so many of the movies from my childhood so that makes it even better.
I have to say that the park was SO crowded this day. It was also really hot. I made my way to Liberty Square and decided that I should eat lunch before anything else. My cream cheese pretzel didn't quite fill me up. I headed to Columbia Harbour House.
The line wasn't too long. I was debating between the Fish & Chicken combo or the blt chicken salad. I decided to go with the Fish & Chicken combo and I have to say that I was disappointed. The fish was way overcooked and hard to eat. I barely ate any of it. The chicken was good, your basic chicken. I'd try Columbia Harbour House again but I wouldn't order the fish again.
I really did enjoy the atmosphere of Columbia Harbour House. It's very pretty and colonial. I just love it!
And that concludes my photos from this day....
After lunch I headed to Haunted Mansion. I will admit...I was a little creeped out riding this by myself.
But I survived and really enjoyed it. I debated going on a second time but decided to press on.
I made my way over to Frontierland and looked in a bunch of the little shops. I usually don't spend a lot of time in Frontierland since I usually skip Splash and BTMRR. After the shops I went to wait for the Country Bear Jamboree. I hadn't done this on my last few trips. I remember it being lame-o last time but maybe I am becoming more lame-o because I really liked it this time. I enjoyed the show and took NO pictures. I couldn't believe it myself but then again...I think I did take pictures. I wonder if pictures from this day are missing. Weird. I sat right in the front row and had a wonderful time.
I did some more wandering and made my way to The Tiki Room. I love those Tiki birds! Not so crazy about Iago's voice but The Tiki Room just reminds me of Walt so I really enjoy it.
I moseyed over to Pirates after my Tiki experience. It was hot and crowded at this point. I couldn't believe the people, I think it was because this is generally the time of day I'm back in my room napping and relaxing. Both lines were open at POTC and I went to the right.
I was just in front of these ladies, looked like Mom and Daughter. They were very much in the know, I figured they were probably DISers but I didn't say anything. Now...we had about a 15 minute wait or so, so not a horribly long wait or anything.
Now I was standing in line, I heard people asking if this is the Fastpass line...I chalked it up to people not knowing what they were talking about. About 5 minutes later, there was a new group behind the Mom & Daughter pair. Then I hear the daughter say, "Don't even try that Fastpass crap with us. You just cut all those poor people and you know very well that you don't have a Fastpass ticket."
Apparently these hooligans were cutting poor people in line who didn't know any better! What jerks. Stuff like this annoys the crap out of me, just wait your turn. The hooligans were probably in their late teens, they were not too happy about being thwarted. I was hoping that I wouldn't get stuck in the same boat as them.
As it turned out I sat on the same bench as the Mother & Daughter and the hooligans were left on the dock as we sailed away.
I had a nice cruise with Captain Jack, though it was really freaky going on that drop by myself.
When I got out of Pirates, the dark clouds were rolling in. I debated with myself. Stick out the rain? Stay for Spectro? Go back to the room and come back out? It was about 3:45ish at this point. I thought about going to tour some of the resorts around the MK area too. I just didn't know. My feet weren't hurting me horribly this day but I had taken it easy and slow, resting a lot in between things.
I decided that I'd head back to All Star Music and see what happened. I made it to the bus stop just as the rain started. Phew. I was still dry! The line was long and I didn't make it onto the first bus. At this point the rain was POURING. And it was windy.
Know where I am going with this?
I was soaked from head to toe. The rain was just whipping right through the bus stop. I was in the front of the line and I had my back to where the rain was coming through and my hair was plastered towards the front. I looked real pretty.
We waited FOREVER for a bus. It was at the point that everytime another bus pulled in and wasn't for ASMu, everyone in line GROANED. It was awful. Finally a bus came and finally we made it back to ASMu. At this point I was DONE. I got some food from the food court in to go containers and headed back to my room. I believe I got the chicken quesadilla, it was really yummy! No picture but I do have one coming up on another day. I needed to rest. I had thoughts of the rain stopping so I could go see Spectro but that never happened. The best I remember, it rained pretty much the whole night. I figured another night of rest would do my feet good.
I was just checking my Twitter updates from the trip and it does say that I took 25 pictures that day! I am missing about 20 of them! What the heck!? I only used one memory card...they must have eaten them. I don't remember deleting them.
I know that I read a bit that night, watched TV and talked to both Mom and Marc. It was pretty uneventful.
I was very much looking forward to Mom coming the next day. She was bringing blister supplies and more socks for me since I hadn't packed them for everyday of the trip. Her flight was getting in around 10:30 so I wasn't planning on heading anywhere in the morning...I'd just wait for her call when she was on the Magical Express.
