The Day the Mickey Died - In memoriam: Pal Mickey

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Yay! Another update!

Okay, why weren't the kids in on the action at the Backlot Tour? Did they not want to participate or did they just need two other people for the show?

My family got the dream fastpass deals at RnR one morning when we were there. I don't ride roller coasters so I was out of luck. It wasn't a busy day and worked out fine though.

Peter, you brighten our day! :thumbsup2

As do we. Actually we rotate NL Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, and Elf continuosly from around Black Friday through the first week of January.

Without question, A Christmas Story and Elf need to be in every family's holiday entertainment repertoire. However, I would also add Bill Murray's Scrooged to the list.

I certainly will, but it may have to be the Cliff's Notes version.

As far as I'm concerned, if cliffs notes were good enough to get me through college....they're good enough for a TR.

Aw, dude... you got SILVER trumpets!? We only got brass trumpets with our dream fastpasses. You ARE extra special!

Yay!

Go Pan-IC, Go-Pan-IC, Go Pan-IC!

And yes, your is the 1st TR where I have sent Mr. Spratt he llink - you are wonderfully funny!

Gotta love those Dream Fastpasses -- we got those at EPCOT on our last trip...I sure wish they were still doing "Year of a Million Dreams" (although it really did end up being a long year...).

LOVE your trip report!

Hey man, whatever gets food in my belly. It's not like we ate for free. We just...manipulated the system a little...in our favor.

If memory serves....it was mostly Dan's web of deception anyway so......

Speaking of food, I'm going to try the CHH tuna sandwich specifically because it sounded so good in your TR.....not to put any pressure on you or anything.....but it would kinda be your fault if I try it and don't like it.

Thanks, I'm not sure if they let kids participate in the show at Backlot Tour. It seems like it has always been adults whenever we've gone.

Yeah.....they don't like to roll out the silver trumpets very often....just for royalty....and us.

Yay!

Thank you.......now hopefully Mr. Spratt doesn't think my TR is rubbish...because that would put a damper on things.

Thank you....I'm going to miss the Year of a Million Dreams as well. I'm not getting the same vibe from this birthday celebration deal. Sorry you're a year older....here's a free admission.

Very funny update. I am with you on Ron not fitting the super hero mold. Do you have to think about these things you write or do they just come to you. Which ever you are very funny.

Ron is not supposed to fit the superhero mold. He wants to be a hero, but he is a geeky high school nerd who is clumsy and not too bright. That is what makes the show funny. My son used to watch that show all the time, hence my knowing... not that I DVR it and secrectly watch it all the time when my wife and kids go to sleep or anything like that. Yeah. And I definitely don't watch it while eating cookies and/or popcorn in my boxers on the 'eating on is forbidden' couch. Nope, I never do that.

And I quote Mr. Spratt: "Just read page 22 - he is Hilarious!"

So there.

Thanks. It mostly just comes to me....but I do draw from a bunch of useless information that's already clogging my brain.

See...I told you I had never heard of him before. With a name like Ron Stoppable...I just assumed he was supposed to be the stereo-typical super hero. Now that I've been set straight.....I wish I could take back some of the cruel verbal barbs that I peppered him with.

And I quote Mr. Spratt: "Just read page 22 - he is Hilarious!"

So there.

Thank goodness.....with all Spratt precincts reporting....we can now declare a winner.

Wow reading that whole thing just took all night. It was really worth it though. Your report is GREAT!!!!! Except the slight hints of Kate bashing :guilty: I think she is wonderful, but not as wonderful as this TR LOL! Can't wait for your next update

You definitely don't run into the name very often....except at your grade school apparently. It seems totally normal to me because I was around it my whole life.
I'm not in grade school :-)snooty:) but yes, besides my 12th grade class at school, I've never run into it.
And the fact that your family received fastpasses and the opportunity to be stars at the Backlot Tour seems pretty shady to me. You sure didn't slip the CM a twenty? Hmmm...
But as always, eagerly waiting for the next installment.

The CM in turn, would remove the appropriate tab....bow deeply from the waist....release a basket of snow-white doves....and then roll out a red carpet lined on both sides with minstrels playing long silver trumpets... which you would then walk upon as you were ushered down the fastpass lane (the carpet not the minstrels)...followed by young maidens tossing rose petals from a basket. I’m just kidding.....there were no maidens.

Psh, no maidens? What kind of shenanigans is Disney trying to pull here? Does Disney not realize exactly WHO they just gave Dream Fastpasses to?? Seriously.

Is it just me or is Kim Possible a little too scantily clad to be in a Disney park? And Ron looks like he is about 10 years old. But it is pretty cool that you got to meet them!

Thanks. Tinkershell would totally agree with you on the Kate topic by the way...and she's the expert. Me? I just know enough to create mischief.

I have seen the error of my ways....but I didn't think you were in grade school now...just that grade school was where you ran into multiple "Randis".

As for the fastpasses and Backlot Tour....although we are certainly not above a little bribery if the situation calls for it....in this case it was legit.

That was the problem.....the CM was new and obviously hadn't been properly briefed on the Panic Attacks. Apparently Ron is supposed to look kind of dorky....which I think he pulled off nicely.

Love the Panic Family!!! Can't wait to read more

Thanks.....but will the feelings last when our secrets are revealed....that's the question.

You sound like my husband and his unhealthy obsession with Hannah Montana. I'll catch him watching it -- without our child.

With these magical Dream Fastpasses in your possession......you no longer had to battle the unwashed masses at the fastpass machines. Instead, you could proceed directly to the fastpass CM and present your Dream Fastpasses.
I should be treated like that.

Even after all of the excitement of the morning, we still wanted to go on the Great Movie Ride. After all....it used to be the crown jewel attraction of MGM.
I find this attraction lacking any creativity. It's like any person watching movies could have spliced this ride together.

Unfortunately, what Tinkershell’s map didn’t show was that there was a large padlocked wooden gate standing between the two of them. How large you ask? Do you remember the giant wooden gate that the island natives built in the movie King Kong? You do? Well...it was nothing like that. I mean, let’s get real here people......the MGM gate was for like... service vehicles or something......whereas the gate from King Kong was an attempt to keep a ginormous gorilla away from a scantily-clad Jessica Lange...or Fay Wray showing a little ankle if you pine for the more wholesome days of yore. My point is....surely you can see that these two gates were designed for vastly different purposes...and subsequently...the construction of a towering wall of giant timbers held together by jungle vines at the end of Hollywood Blvd would have been a incredible waste of resources. Anyway, long story short (hucifer: too late), we ended up having to retrace our steps back to TGMR...which incidently....was where this whole sorted short-cut debacle had started.
That's what I love about your drawn-out diatribe -- endless yet fascinating detail about nothingness. Only Peter Panic Attack and Seinfeld could pull this off so effortlessly and effectively.

While we were standing in line....Tinkershell and I must have been radiating a certain star-like quality...because a CM came up and asked us if we wanted to be in the show. “That would be awesome.....let me just get my agent on the line so we can iron out the details. First...I'd like a black S500 to pick me up at the entrance. I need the interior of the car to be 71 degrees exactly.” You know...standard stuff...nothing too fancy. I’m not asking for anything that....say... Tom Cruise wouldn’t get.
I wouldn't expect anything less for the Panic Attacks.

So I think you’ll all agree.....we rock.
I really think that goes without saying.

...and if I remember right....received a standing ovation at the end of the performance.
To be honest, everyone is standing throughout the entire show because there are no seats. I'm just sayin'.

Another brilliant chapter in your endless story. If I had a flower, I'd throw one at you.

Do you mean you should be treated like that all the time....or just at WDW?

I find this attraction lacking any creativity. It's like any person watching movies could have spliced this ride together.

Why must you rain on my parade? How about the part when Squid and Beans show up and get in the shoot-out with the rival gangsters across the street and we're all caught in the middle and fearing for our lives. Could any person watching movies have come up with that? I submit that they could not.

I'm not sure what you're getting at. Are you suggesting that other people might have just mentioned there was a gate?

To be honest, everyone is standing throughout the entire show because there are no seats. I'm just sayin'.

Again with the parade precipitation. If this continues, I'm going to have to break out my poncho....and since I'm currently indoors at a desk....that is not going to be a good look for me.

Another brilliant chapter in your endless story. If I had a flower, I'd throw one at you.

You are too kind.

However....with the hundreds of thousands of emoticons provided by the Disboards...are you suggesting that there isn't a single flower throwing smiley face...or banana for that matter. Frankly, I find that a little hard to believe.
